That's actually not the problem. A better Energy source is the problem. Even the movie Back to the Future came up with the "Flux Capacitor" to solve the issue If we had A more efficient energy source, like Tony Stark's Chest thingy, we would all be flying around in Iron man suits right now. A new Energy source is the current bottleneck for so many great ideas. Nuclear powered cars would be awesome, but too dangerous. Even this video as cool as it is that thing probably cannot stay airborne for very long. Batteries are heavy. Gasoline is also heavy. They are playing with very tight parameters with current energy technology. @@mrnorthz9373 I didn't know about that mosquito helicopter. At 32k it's really cheap for a helicopter! Still, flying the jetson wouldn't be harder than flying your average consumer drone, the multiple counter rotating rotors and the electronics make it more stable and easier to fly than a purely mechanical helicopter. Also we don't know the maintenance costs of each one.
@@JustRememberWhoYoureWorkingFor this was not my point. I didnt know that mosquito heli existed before your comment. Im trying to argue that the concept of helicopters are superior to this, and it took 10 seconds of googling to prove helicopters are better. Still, driving a car is easier than piloting a drone yet more than a million people die in car crashes. Letting the general public access flying machines with 4 sawblades on them might not be a good idea, while your point is great but i doubt youd spend 2 times the build cost for maintenance on a helicopter. The helicopter is cheap because its very tiny, any helicopter in the ultralight class would have similar price. Drones are better for small applications like below 60 kgs and helicopters are good for above that. The advantages of a drone against a helicopter is its much higher agility and manueverability, but helicopters are many times more efficient and powerful.
I grew up in the 50's-'60's and we all wanted the flying car. Now all these years later having seen so many bad drivers, do I really want to have to watch out above my head for the same idiots...and yes, this is still a cool thing..
Remember the first cars? Owned by millionaires who were like billionaires back in over 100+ yrs ago? They didn't have much tech of a car.. and no actual roads... It will pick up over time. By then we might not even have to worry about propellers any more. Kind of like star wars levitating vehicles... It all seems far fetch but before we know it we are there... Our next gen probably.. unless we get invaded by aliens 👾
I doubt anything like that will happen. Either this will be like ultralights in that they will be restricted in where they can and can not fly. Or you will still need to get a pilots license, and considering that this is a VTOL, you might even have to get a helicopter's license. Even then, this type of stuff will NEVER be cheap (other than used, which even then is still unknown how much the price will vary). So unless everyone has money, and I doubt that will be the case anytime soon because apparently saving is too hard, you won't have worry any more than you do now with aircraft already in the sky
@@Bruja_71 Well, the reason why propellers (and rotors) are used is because they're efficient, cheap(ish), and reliable. Kind of like wings, they are similar (because they're both aerofoils, of course they would), they are also more effective at what they do, it's why the aircraft they can carry the most use wings and not rotors. High bypass turbofans are pretty similar to propellers.

So as someone who use to work on C-130s I will say this. It looks cool, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable flying in that thing. On C-130s you have a red line that lines up with the propeller. That line is there because in the event that the engine blows up that red line indicates where the propeller blade is likely to go. Those back blades are exactly neck height. So if I were to get into something like this I would want those blade somewhere above me rather than next to me. And I feel that this is something you’re going to figure out if you ever collect crash data on this thing.
Its basically a helicopter. But as I have said, you and I will never be allowed to individually own and drive one of these. It will all be public transport, I would lay money on it. No way will any aviation authority will allow a regular person to get into a flying vehicle, lol, whatever made you think they would allow this?. God knows how many deaths that would cause. you cant even brake in the air! the reason why we didnt have flying cars isnt because of lacking technology. it is because they are stupid and useless. its not just me that thinks this way. there are countless people and videos claiming the same point. literally ask any civil engineer about this, and they will say the same thing.

When I was a kid, back in the '70s, I was told we'd have flying cars by the year 2000. There's a reason we didn't get them. It would be the biggest calamity in human history, since most people can barely pilot a terrestrial car.
Imagine A lightweight energy source that is 100 to A 1,000 times more efficient than gasoline and you would have A future that has everyone in flying cars. You would have Ironman suits as well. None that is practical at the moment. At best they are Niche products and will remain that way until some genius unlocks something better than Petro. I think the current longest flight time for the smallest drones is around 25 minutes.

Your comment immediately cooled my enthusiasm.

@@mrnorthz9373 please, it's not the same thing or has the same burden to fly one of those.
@@NorttVander "flying cars" usually end up being worse helicopters. I dont know why we need a singleseater quadcopter with lacking range and flighttime. Also putting regular commuters into the air is a very bad idea
@@mrnorthz9373 if you can't think that doesn't mean there's not a application for those vehicles. also if you're so certain of that being a "very bad ideia" you should make a campaign or something to oppose that ideia, that is, if you know what you're saying more than the engineers.
@@NorttVander any engineer or even any rational person can find many flaws within the concept of "flying cars" by thinking about it very shortly. i have thought of some specific applications when i saw this. dont go into assumptions immediately. the problem is its too specific and limited due to the horrendous flight time. weve had technology for "flying cars" since the 1940s. its not that hard to get a driving vehicle to fly. its just that the idea is stupid and there is no need to make them. why do you need the driving car part? you dont. thats why you always use helicopters or conventional planes.
now to the second part of my comment
converting everyday commuting to flying is a very, very bad idea. im pretty sure you know how loud roads are. now imagine giant angry blenders constantly whizzing around every time you go outside. a drone is loud enough, now imagine it being 50 times louder. and then take the number of cars on the road and multiply it with that.
then there is another huge issue, safety.
people cant even drive normal cars on two dimensions. now imagine adding 3 dimensions into that. you know how many deaths are caused by car crashes? millions. now make those cars exponentially more unstable and add 4 giant death blades onto them.
Jetson: Everyone is a pilot
Everyone: JANE! GET ME OFF THIS CRAZY THING!
