Busted my back in 2000 and went through all of this.
It's a surreal experience, especially that moment after you realise the feeling is gone.
So rad to hear from someone that can relate.
Thanks Dak and Our BMX crew.

Dak. Your take on being hurt and spending time with your daughter and also the reinforcement of your relationship with your wife and sponsors and friends is spot on. It shows you who’s down and how down they are when everything is sideways and you got to do something arguably more important than riding. Glad to see things are going so well. God bless brother.

I have such a weak stomach that just the talking about his injury took me 4 or 5 different attempts to get through. Keep getting light headed. I have been through some tuff slams but seeing someone else go through it messes me. Glad he is on the mend. Also happy the audio issue was fixed before I had an excuse to change the video. You’re getting better at spotting the issues. Well done

I had the surgery and came out not having mobility in my left leg and min function in my right leg. Your injury almost had me in tears. I'm glad you came away with a really bad injury with everything you have. its amazing. just wanted to share my story. its not as horrible as yours.

I hit play on this because it was a Dak Roche story. Didnt realise it was you guys sitting down with Dak and had a big moment of excitement. This stuff is very much stuff we need from the athletes.
Edit after getting halfway. I had a severe back injury last year, the loss of feeling is the scary part, its not numb its nonexistent like Dak described. I also had sensation confusion during healing, fingers running along my thigh was not felt there but in a mirrored sense on the calf. MRIs with back injuries are horrible, i have methods to disassociate as a mental health management tool, and that didnt even help. Partners are god sends, my partner went into mission impossible mode and was managing myself, her grandmother with dementia and work.
