- It's been a struggle seeing people catching big bull reds around me using live bait and cut bait while I could not land a jetty redfish on my lures. Tried out some NLBN 5" paddle tails and the bite turned on for me. Overall I'm liking the baits, it's a fun change from using mostly spoons for reds and it can give them a different look.

I met the owners of NLBN out at Seba and they gave me a few lures. They are great guys and really down to earth. It was crazy bad conditions and the lures did not let down. I'm hooked on them! Great vid keep them coming!

I agree with both you guys there is a popular lure maker (R) that calls those surface lures Shallow water lures and I do replace the hooks as mentioned
Just picked up some of the smaller NLBN paddle tails for flats in the yak... 1st time got 2 trout and 2 reds slot, had a few rats and dinks also 🤙

Whats good Coop keep up the good work. Questions how do you know when the water clarity is good we were just down there this past weekend from Austin. On the North jetty water was just to murky. Seemed like no bites
Extended periods of light winds can mean nicer waters but is not always true. Check out surf webcams to get a good idea.

Hey bro you think a 4000 size spinning reel with a 7ft heavy rod handle them reds?
It's possible if you have 20-30lb braid but the issue is you are making long casts and letting it sink down dozens more feet so you may not have enough line and if you're using that lighter braid it will cut at the sight of a rock.
@@ThresherFishing appreciate it I’m probably gonna try it I got 30lb line and I’m gonna run a mono leader but if all else fails I’m use my 6000 it’s jus a lil on the heavy side

What rod set up do you usually use for jetty fishing/pier/surf fishing?
I was using a 10' penn carnage II with a penn slammer III 5500. Not the best setup for everyone because the rod is a bit heavy but I really like it because it can cast heavy lures very far.

Coop,if you ever fish the Dams in Alabama( Afew of them, I fished Lay Dam a lot)..use those white grubby lures, with a 1 to 2ounce white colored jig head in the fast water..
In the spring...big stripers and hybrids...lots of them.
