- This is the Hyundai i20. It’s a sensible, spacious alternative to cars like the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta. But in a class full of stylish, fun-to-drive superminis, what does the i20 offer that’s unique among its rivals? I try to find out in my full, in-depth review.

*lol!🤣*
Hahaha
Rubbish Joke
I live in Brazil. We don't have i20 here. I have no money to buy a car but for some reason I still watch your videos! Great car channel!
I am a fan of your reviews and you are getting better every time... I also can see a good flow in the new vedios this year which is great... So continue the good work 👍 ☺
0:58 - I would agree with you on the entry level car not having air con. I mean, who really wants to buy a car in 2018 that doesn’t have air conditioning?!
Josh Bacon specially if you live in a tropical country like me.
People in Scandinavia wouldn't. Believe me :-)
Scandinavia. And any other country without global warming.
Arnis Tarassu everywhere has global warming. thats why its called global. but some places experience much less than others
Josh Bacon me
I own an i20 in India since 2016 and it’s mid option and it has center arm rest with storage, rear AC vents
I wish there was an i20N so I could talk about buying it and never actully do it.
I'm up for that, but only if Hyundai makes it look like the WRC version.
pSyk in South Africa we do have it
I have one, pretty cool car, looks like a racer but power is a bit lacking
@Mental Divergence there is one, wa launched in South Africa 2017
It's not a a proper N though basically just a chip and a sports exhaust.
Very good design. A straightforward practical car, without all the pretentious crap that other manufacturers try to foist on you.
I tought you had a OnePlus 5... so why when talking about the speaker's you're showing us an HTC? Is it because the OnePlus (which is also what I have) only has ONE speaker? =))
I've heard Mat talk about car wow so many times that I've forgotten it's an ad 🤞🤣
Whoops... Matt forgot about the glove box again 😂
The manual fits, so it can't be all bad. :)
Chup Ghode
Realy like are u that critical 🤔😂
OMG finally someone with an Oneplus 5/5t in Europe.
I own both OnePlus 5t and elite i20 top spec and both of them are doing pretty good job. I am sure one wouldn't regret owning them.
Biceps game is getting stronger
💪🏼🙄🙄🙄🙄😏😏😏
Just hired one of these, nice car, no gimmicks it was fairly basic with aircon. Decent ride and seems well built. 1 year old with 4 years warranty remaining for £8k makes it a good buy !
This particular vehicle was first registered on the 1st of September 2016, sixteen months ago.
2018 model ?
My 2012 i20 came loaded with auto lights and viper, 4 disc brakes with abs and ebd, tilt and telescopic steering, front and rear fog lamps, auto dimming RVM, Electric and heated ORVM, reverse camera with sensors, stereo with 6 speakers, dual airbags apart from the usuals like air con and powered all round windows etc. Also, its 1.4 lt 90 hp diesel with enough punch although I have tuned it for 120 hp with simple mods. Its makes an excellent car for intercity travel and is comfortable.
I saw a 71 plate Corsa which looked good but has drum breaks at the back. I was really surprised because I thought they were a thing of the past.
I am very impressed by the i20. I would not buy it as of now but if I was getting a car of that size today, yea maybe I would get it. Never thought I would say that I could possibly get a Hyundai a couple of years ago.
Here in India we got a major facelift of this car this year(2018)
Why are most people in the comments hating this car? It is hell lot of a car for the price. We have one as a city car in the family (alongside A6 allroad) and it is a super value for the money. We paid like 11.500 eur for the medium trim with alloy wheels and 1.4 (4cyl) petrol engine (which is btw 100 bhp, which is pretty good for a 1.200kg car). Reliability and usability is pretty good too (no problems in 2 years whatsoever). Yes it does not have the infotainment etc (in most European markets it is only in the highest trim), but what you want for the price. One thing though I do not agree with the review: it is really noisy at highway speeds. It is just a car for the city (not mentioning the gearbox with super short gears - and that is the 6spd one). But as a value car for the city it excels imo.
yeah it's not 1200 kg. More like 1050
Hrvoje J. The one with 1.4 petrol engine is 1200 kg. The technical documentation says so.
Juraj Barbuš Well that just can't be true haha check again. The diesel version is the heaviest and it doesnt even weigh that much.
they are hating because they are snobs toward anything not german probably
Who needs city car you lazy bastard..go by feet
For bigger people is actually better that central armrest isn't there because it would be in the way when shifting manual.
I brought a new one just before christmas love it i got the premium se with the armrest and no sat nav but can easily attach your phone to the dashboard as long as you don't have an LG like i do . All in all very happy
What about the wind/tire noise compared to WV Polo? The noise (or the lack of it) is one of the most important aspects of a car for me.
are the 1.0 turbo engines reliable, any issues? sounds noisy and viby , is that normal for 3cyl turbos?
Awesome review man!!!!
Are there any cars that Matt said you should go ahead and buy it
Mostly I have seen him shortlist them
Mat, did u switch back to htc? those front firing speakers..!
I know this don't have a EPB (Electric Parking Brake) but do all manufactures who put them in have a auto release when you attempt to drive away?
Is the clutch better than on the previous model?
Why didn’t you pick the model with the projector headlamps? It looks so amazing
Hey Matt, when are you going to review the new Duster?
Good unbiased review giving credit when credit is due nice car and great value for money.
I cracked up when you put the box "out of its misery".
will you do Hyundai i20 Active 2018 1.0 TGDI 100KS 5MT ISG Premium Plus review any time soon?
and what are your thought's about it?
And will you do t-roc review T-Roc TSI Design 110 kW (150 KS) / Benzin / Man. mj. 6 st. pr. / ?
How does it compare to an aventador sv?
i´v owned a 2018 pre-facelift 1.2L i20 since early 2019 and after 5 years of owner ship and 3 trips across Europe it is still going strong and it has been absolutely faultless, the only thing i have had to change (apart from regular yearly maintenance) were the rear brake pads. Try that with a 6 year old VW or Ford....
Hello, when is the dacia duster 2018 review scheduled for?
Hey - there's a new i20 out now - any chance of a review please?
Nice review, nice little car. First thing I'd do is change every bulb I could to LED. And wow, I just can't wrap my head around the tiny engine trend, turbo or not.
Will you be reviewing the new Seat Arona?
Mat can you please make a review of the new 2017 facelifted Alfa Romeo guilietta which has improved so much than the old one that you have reviewed for carbuyer.. I’m in the market to buy myself(26 years old) a car and I can’t decide which is better opel astra or Alfa giulietta.. my mind says astra but my heart goes with the beautiful giulietta(exterior and interior).. you ve made a review for astra, but I would like to see a “in-depth review” for giulietta from you and I think that no one reviewed the new one so this would help many who are after alfa as an alternative..
How comes he didn't mention the ride quality. Does it have a firm or soft ride?
are you going to review the hyundai accent 2018?
are you going to do the i20 coupe to?
Mat where is the 12v socket? :O
This video wouldn’t help me decide which car to buy in B segment, it wasn’t compared to its competition but “it’s okay for a car in this price range” 🤗 didn’t help Mat, thanks for the video
had one (2017) for 10 month, absolutely love it ! a bit tiny though, i'm 1.92m and nobody can sit behind me, but totally worth the money
Yep. I own one its called Elite i20 Magna here in India. Costs around 8000 Pounds. Has Aircon but no touchscreen. It also is a bit slower (85 bhp)
I envy you people in the UK because your middle variants get such a lot of features.
does it come with canine leather upholstery
Can do a video on the new i20 2020
this is 2018 version? what are we driving in India then that looks exactly the same, from last 3 years?
I drive it now for almost a year and i am extremly happy with it. It drives great and for the price, you get a very nice and good looking car. Go for the 1.0 l Turbo tough
Hi. How fuel efficient would you say the car is?
@@esihlephindilehlongwane6728 i'd say it's ok, not the best in class but still pretty good.
Can you please do a review on subaru impreza hatch?
so u have right hand drive in UK??
Does it have rear charger socket
I'm definitely buying this car.
Fun to watch!

Wasn't your OP5 white and gold?
where can i get this front grill???????
Best car ever bought. Drive it for 2 years and love it.
Are there any problems with it so far?
I love one plus! Especially the 5T
I20 is a great car. My dad has a third one going. 1st was 1.4, 2nd this featured model and now hi has a MY19 version. The newest has an MPG of 55 and very sufficient power for every day use. Only thing I would get as an extra is the vision package, as we live here in the dark, Finland. The stock H4 is rubbish, yesterday fitted a couple of auxiliary high beams on dad's car. The difference is like night and day! The 2nd car had better light output with projector headlamps (which are extra in the new one). Also fitted HB3 HID xenon kit in those. Visibility was awsome, and beam pattern was very sharp.
How well did the 1.4 perform
review i30 fastback?
Pls make video of 2020 i20
The 6th annoying point is that pimple stuck to the back for the reversing camera, could they not have integrated that somewhere?
I'm confused. I own an i20 and am 6 foot, and when I push the driver seat all the way back to my driving position there is NO way adult can sit behind me. Rear seat legroom is good for a toddler at best with tall adults in the front. It is supremely comfortable to drive though (for this segment) :)
Could u do a video about the best affordable cars for beginners?
India's most loved hatchback 😍
ruclips.net/video/dmmAJMZ2CIU/видео.html
Meanwhile, in India....
@@fazilahamed1240 bro they call it a premium car💀
@@jaafarzaidi3390 no we don't 😵💫 it is among the most selling hatchbacks in India. How can it be premium and best selling at the same time 😮
Why is this video uploaded in January, when it clearly was reviewed at summer time?
Has this something to do with some special release date - embargo?
As much as I'm concerned this car isn't exactly new, isn't it?
Tea Kay Some say Mat does all the reviews in the summer because he hibernates in the forest during winter
Tea Kay There is a lot of editing involved in these videos. And if your filming a few cars a week, there would soon be a backlog of editing needing done.
hi. pls review chevrolet spark 1.4L 2018. thank you.
Love your review
you should have got the top end varient of this car. It comes loaded. My fav bit is its electro chromatic auto dimming Rear View Mirror. oh also the Rain Sensing Wipers. (which they didnt put on this gen Model. I have older i20)
When are you testing the kia stinger
How come I think Mat never changed the water in the bottle for years?
Guys can you do the review of the new suzuki swift?. Thanks.
Sir could you do review on Hyundai grand i10 nios.
Wow! The car looks amazing!
This car does not provide in Singapore.
1:24 I never understand why the driver's side doesn't have the grab handle at the top in quite a number of cars. Can someone please tell me why?
DBoy 37 because the driver is supposed to keep both hands at the steering wheel ?
Matt have hitting gym more often than hitting those cars for reviews i guess.
Hi Mat.. please review 2017/18 Subaru Impreza. Thanks
Could you please make your next video on i10 grand nios (India).
They still make cars without air conditioning?
I drive it for about a year now, and that's a very good car, better than a Renault Clio for sure
What will be the price for this car now?
I have this car and have had nice time since 2014 ....
I've just collected my new (used i20) and I'm really impressed so far, it's got lots of equipment and good safety features. It drives well but the engine does lack a bit of punch so I need to be sure when I move off at a roundabout so that I won't get caught out when another car comes. It's okay when it's up to speed on the motorway and can keep pace with traffic. All in all a great value car with lots of equipment and space. A real bang for your buck. PS 45mpg combined seems pretty good for a 1.2 petrol.
There's a new 1.0 turbo witch is way faster than the old 1.2 petrol and 1.4 diesel
im going to chiptune my i20 later his year to get around or just above 100hp, hope this will solve the lack of a some punch (it's got 84hp stock)
Can I ask if you can still sync your mobile for contacts ect?.
Yes you can
So are you going to make a review of a mazda?
I like the design of the i20 but wish it came with a bigger engine
Yes it would be amazing if it had a Honda Vtec engine 👍
Would you do a review of the Tata Nexon
Matt audio was a bit up and down in this video. Please get your editing team to have a look and may be not repeat that next time. Thanks :)

Compare honda fit/jazz vs Hyundai i20 vs Suzuki Baleno booster jet/1.2
There's Oneplus 5T now! Why did you get an Oneplus 5 as your new phone?
Also I totally agree with you on the turbo engine. I tried the cheaper 1.25 engine at the dealer and I found it slow. The 1.0 turbo engine is good
Is this the pre facelift version. I just bought a new i20 in Denmark and it does have Apple Carplay and Android Auto. I was able to hook up my phone.
This would have been yes. the 2019 facelift model you've just bought should also have auto-emergency breaking. Making it a 5 Star Euro N-Cap rated car (Although not officially).
@@saracen2633 Actually mine does not but it is available in DK. It is part of an optional package.
@@saracen2633 And by the way. I can see the differences in the design. F. Ex my license plate is in the rear door and not the bumper.
Oh the Indian version gets a lot more goodies but looses something too... V get automatic Projector headlights, auto climate control(on higher spec variants),rear AC vents, centre arm rest.
But v only have a 1.2l petrol and a 1.4 turbo diesel... Sadly no turbo petrol and no false floor on boot...
Am a proud owner of this car...
Is it.. bigger on the inside?
Please review the BMW X3M40i! Thx!
