Creating a Nano Planted Betta Tank for my Office! (low tech aquascape)

- today, I'm creating a nano planted betta tank for my office!! this is basically my first-ever attempt at a low tech aquascape...and as a desktop aquarium, nonetheless. I started by getting this Top Fin 5 gallon rimless fish tank from Facebook marketplace, then took a trip to the local fish store for supplies, and made sure I was able to get permission from my boss xD Hope you enjoy the ride!!

Hey turtle girl! I have a 2 year old musk turtle and I was wondering if he is considered an adult yet? I want to make sure his tank has enough water and he’s eating the right food.

I made my medium size acquarium for ny 2 indian roofed turtle. It's quiet convienient for them, they play and swim around.

Looks beautiful! What filter are you using? I don’t see it in the tank or hanging.
The filter is built into tank i think, it’s in the back
correct! the filter is built into the tank...you can kind of see the intake slots in the lower left when I add the substrate, and then a pump creates the flow and it is output by the little spigot near the top.
This is such a great idea! Can you let me know how to add the plants hanging out of the top?

So pretty! I wish we had that kind of store where I live. We have 1 that's like a go to freshwater but its crazy over priced because again it's to only one. Quick question how we're you able to remove the bio from the spider wood my last tank kept developing bio and it just took over the tank I didn't know what to do.
It kind of just slowly disappeared on mine. Now it has turned into algae but thats a different problem lol
@The Turtle Girl oh okay good to know and for the most part the bio isn't harmful it just LOOKS nasty lol which is my problem. now algae, that definitely is another problem. Have you tried adding floating plants that create shading and help reduced the lightening and possibly adding more submerged plants that'll help bring oxygen to the tank. I know these methods help with algae control.

I love the tank and fish. I've had lots of betta fish that only lasts few days. I love axolotls and turtles and I'm hoping to get one soon. since you have had axolotls and turtles for a while which one is easier to take care of
I mean, the care of either are relatively different. Turtles require basking areas, but axolotls are more sensitive...so I'm not really sure if one is easier than the other haha!

Quick fish chat for anyone who wants a little advice/story
So i have had mainly zebra danios in my tanks and they have done good and bad, i first bought 5, 2 went missing so i bought like 5 more, but fish kept going missing (im guessing my turtle got them but i found 0 bodies or debris, like here one day gone the next) but this showed me survival of the fittest, now i have 3, 3 from the very first batch (I believe) every other fish died except these, so for zebras i think its really down to the individual fish, because some survived a long time and some died in weeks.

Unrelated I have a question about my turtle and its hard to get any definite answers, is there any way we could talk so i can show pics of him? Hes taking ages to shed (its been many months) he had a lighting issue and i got hims some better lamps like 5 months ago but no change.

I like play sand, pool filter sand, and black diamond blasting sand from tractor supply. These are all pretty budget friendly. You can also always get a regular aquarium sand from the pet/fish store
What's the brand of the tank?
You should add some celestial pearl danios in there or pygmy corydoras
oooh cpds would be really cool! I'd want to do corys, but not sure if I can do a big enough school without overstocking?

Guys i need help, i cant get my turtle to eat in a separate container (as most turtle keepers do), he just won’t eat. He will look at the food and then get right back to trying to escape, he won’t eat in there at all. I had a large container and got an even bigger one and that didn’t work. He used to eat in the container as a hatchling but won’t now. He will only eat in the tank which dirties it up very badly And is messing up my live plants. It just makes such a mess. And even in the tank he is barely interested in the food,Im scared, should i take him to the vet? What do i do?
In my turtle tank i used this plastic like egg crate looking thing thats for lights in a drop ceiling then ziptied all my decorations to it so archie cant redecorate without my permission anymore loo

Your aquarium is so beautiful but those decorations are very sharp and can rip or snag your bettas tail it is very risky and bettas can be sensetive fish. But your fish is so beautiful I love her😊
