I'm 29, and only got to start learning bass last year. A good friend found out I'd been wanting to learn since I was little, but could never afford a bass... so he bought me a bass, and a little practice amp.

Aron Hodek is a amazing young bassist I wish him the best I hope he truly makes out hes gotta continue to get better and stand out some how though when he's an adult there loads of bassist that can do what he does as a adult in order to stand out as a adult hes gonna have to evolve and find ways to stand out he wont have youth on his side in his 20's and 30's to stand out from the crowd

The only reason to use a pick when playing the bass is to get more attack in your sound, which can be used to cut through a mix of instruments in a band situation. Guitar players that learn the bass should really take the time to learn to play without a pick. Though the strings are tuned to the same notes, they're in different octaves and played quite differently.

Pick has it’s uses... if you want to get very aggressive on the strings (like “Immigrant Song” from Zep, you can do the Andy from Reverb “fake pick” but your right index finger will look like it was mauled by a bear at the end) (and I’m using not so heavy gauge flats).
