1:40/lap at 10 laps used 59% of the battery… so it will barely make a full moto. So if you want to race it, you’re buying another battery to swap as you cannot charge it fast enough between motos. Going to get rid of bike engine sounds at the track in exchange for constant, endless generators running.
Don't need generators. The electrical demands of charging bikes aren't a big deal. A 220v Stark charger doesn't even draw 10 amps, so a standard 200A hookup for a house could charge 20 bikes simultaneously in under an hour.
Something I am coming to realize is that things are going to change dramatically once tracks start having a lot of these on site, and charging on site. I think you're going to see "supercross" spec bikes with smaller batteries, that make a ton of sense once tracks are 30% or more electric bikes on site. Adding to that, have 38k miles experience on EV moto street bikes, passive air cooling is cheap and makes sense for bicycle speeds, and more than that it's just a must to have some kind of liquid cooling. For some of the EV street riders this means grab a 40oz cup of ice from the convenience store while at a charging stop and chuck it on the motor controller / battery / charging heatsink 😆

For me to consider one it’d need a quick change battery and come with two packs for the same price.
Great video! Funny I just found 2 Millville Pro national programs , 1 1983, 1984 . And 1 1977 amateur regional program ! Cool stuff- anybody looking for these?
Great review. I know it's sponsored and everything but once I knew who kindly gave you the comparison GasGas and you started talking about the detail of the gas bike I just switched off. Keep up the good work though 👍
can not hear you after 3:45 for the rest of the video
this sounds a lot like two stroke vers four stroke .. Alex you still got it !
A bike SO good they wont give it to actual test riders
I mean, they have done that...
And then there is the stock issue, every single produced bike need to go out to their customers.
When you say the wheels made a big difference, what do you mean by that? What was better with them? Ability to feel the track, landing from jumps or ???
Stock wheels are soft/flexy compared to Factory Upgraded wheels. Pros notice the difference in feel. Us mere mortal do not!
Rad video! 🤘
two tghings to note, it was a hand read brake, which can take a bit of getting used to for feel, and the suspension wasn't dialed in to the rider's preferences.
love that tune at the end!!
Interesting Alex is so down on the OEM GG wheels. What do the aftermarket wheels do that is so great?
The Dubya wheel setup is more rigid, which for me helped with high speed stability and was less twitchy on rough sections.
Someone needs to tell Stark industries they can fix the jumping on throttle causing pitch back problem if they program digital gears by setting incremental rpm limits based on user input... Hell, make it push button shifting and break some more barriers for your happy customers!. Anyone know if someone is already doing that?
Awesome video and great overview and testing if the bike! Nice work gents!
Why bother doing that. Just be aware of it and adapt with less of a blip in the air . Remember he’s never ridden one and you wanna go design a gear system to fix a problem that Probbaly woulnt exist with a few more hours on the bike
@@Ozfreerider_adventures that is a great point, this is still new technology and even the pros haven't had a chance to learn what they do like and don't like on this bike, and how to best use what is already available.
But my desire for the functionality of a clutch by way of electronics only (not a mechanical wet clutch like on a 2 stroke, I'm more referring to adjustable traction control by way of a lever at your left hand). It would be a new product never developed before , at least never that I've heard of. This comes more from Enduro riding where clutch is critical part of balance, as well as power. The clutch is the scalpel where the throttle is a chain saw. I'm just hoping the technology can be suited to work with hard Enduro riders as well. Maybe stark isn't interested in making that happen. I'll be buying another 2 stroke they're great!! 😃
@@Jrod_FPV very good point about the clutch feel. I can't ride with a Rekluse. I have to have a stock clutch because I've ridden with one for 55 years. Old habits die hard
How long did you have to charge it for at the track? Looks like a standard 220v/240v RV plug @ maybe 30 amps?
It is currently 10 amp max, but that might change, I hope
As the power density of batteries improves (and it is).....the fastest vehicles will be electric.
I love the legacy of 2 stroke and 4 strokes with transmissions and clutches....but if the goal is to go fast....this is it. Great to see the next chapter.
while Alex was tlkn about what was on the bike and aparantly showing us but the camera man forgot to show us the view of the bike while amart was telling us all the stuff he'd put on it, I would of realy liked to see it dang it 😖😂 👍🏽
(My apologies...just now realized he wasnt riding the whole track).
WTH?! Maybe I missed it but not once did I see the Varg go up Mount Martin...I was looking for the juicy content. Not just the review. We want to see the uphill triple, up & down Mt Martin, back stretch of the track! Ik ik, I'm bitchin but make the cameraman work a little!
Was that the cooling fan that was so loud when he stopped?
It has a small radiator with a fan under the seat for water cooling the battery.
Overheating
@@TSM_BreaK Actaully no. The battery is air cooled. The water cooling is for engine and controller.
EV cars like a bit of overheating 🔥
Adding to that, have 38k miles experience on EV moto street bikes, passive air cooling is cheap and makes sense for bicycle speeds, and more than that it's just a must to have some kind of liquid cooling. For some of the EV street riders this means grab a 40oz cup of ice from the convenience store while at a charging stop and chuck it on the motor controller / battery / charging heatsink 😆
40 ebikes lined up at supercross would be horrible
It’s not. I’ve watched them plenty of times
I LOVE starks and e-bikes and yet still agree with this. Haha . I’ve got a streak coming soon and think they will be better than ice bikes but I still don’t wanna see a full grid of them because the sounds of a gate drop in any race is awsome
Can it stay competitive through a 30 min moto?
did i miss the stark lap time or 🤔
Yes, time flashed up on the screen after the hot laps..it was 1:40
Very impressive! 🤗
Why does everything have to be tied into our phone? I want to use my phone as little as possible.
With the stark its the logical thing to do.
As its the easiest and you can ride without it.
Set your 5 profiles, and then leave the phone with your tools.
It's all fun and games til you're sitting at camp charging while your friends go ride gas bikes 💩 this would never hang with the amount of riding we do
I skipped past the RC bike and listened to that 4 banger make some noise!
4 jokes sound like 4ucking trash trucks
Alex did a great job showing us some good insight with the bike. I wish he'd be a little more descriptive with what he thought about the suspension and chassis. I wonder if the left hand rear brake is an advantage or disadvantage? I'm sure its strange at first but that might be a big benefit going into right turns
Hand brake is always an advantage once you get used to it.
Hand brake is a game changer. You can always brake, and better. One-finger lockups with the brembo
Someone raced an Alta on amateur day before the national a couple years ago.
the hate for these bikes is wild, can’t wait to finance one and build my credit off it
so i drive 2 hours to the track, ride for 30 minutes run out of charge and then what?
Exactly-
And completely forget about going out with the boys and doing a 65 mile loop in the desert / mountains.
Most , like 75% of the guys never ride a track- they buy a bike to ride in the country-
Explore the trails-
Even beginnings are riding 25-30 miles in the morning, have lunch at the truck, and do another 25-30 miles.
Battery tech is improving give it 5 plus years
The world wants things easier, and don't want to work for it when riding .I rather work for riding skills..
😳😳😳
you had me at good morning🤣
Just need to do something about that sound and they’ll be golden.
Pretty sweet but ain’t no way that thing would make a whole race.
Fortunately they haven't stopped battery R&D
I guess its the future not to keen on the no noise but it will keep everyone happy ie neighbours looks fast though
He lying that not even close to national prep lol
Needs a recording with speaker of a pissed off Harley.
Cool idea. Seems a bit like a solution to a non-existent problem.
It's a tax cattle sham. Look up the big investor.
In a lot of places, noise is a very real problem.
@@KlintonSilvey No it really isn't. A few places where they shouldn't be close to houses might be. We have the technology to make 4-strokes quiet. Just an additional 5 pounds in mass would make a 450 as quiet as a goldwing. People don't want quiet. I use the noise from my bikes to announce my approach around blind corners, over steep hills or for fun, a well tuned 2t is music. Other bikes like a klx140 or te150i are very quiet and not offensive to the ear.
It’s consumer demand not a problem
@@Dat_Sun 😂😂😂😂🤦🏻♂🤦🏻♂
Pastrana said it is good and thats good enough for me :D
Hating on the Varg is like back when people said ur not as agile unless u wear booty shorts to play basketball 😂
Cheers for the lap time and how much more do you think can get with more time in it
And e bike on it still sounds sik haha
2 seconds per lap is a huge amount of time at the end of a race!
Thats not reality, this was not an honest review.
@@Dat_Sunwhat’s the time stamp for times
@@YourHomeBuilderLtd-xu6cp I don't understand, are you saying you believe he was being honest?
I believe him , I just wanted to cut to the chase so I didn’t have to watch the whole 25 minute video I think Alex is a G, he’s so cool he’s the only guy Friese wouldn’t take out
@@Dat_Sun What makes you think he wasn't? As someone with a performance model Tesla, electrics can be brutally quick. It's like being in the perfect part of the powerband at all times.
We'd actually like to see the bike in action.
What did Alex say? If he were to get one, it would be with or without the foot rear brake? I couldn't hear him.
I’m a C class rider and I really want to ride a Stark Varg. I’m all about change.
What's up Mother fuckers! Thanks for being a guy in your opening. Good review. I don't think I'm there yet for the electric ride. I still like hearing what is chasing me.
Doesnt matter how good it feels to ride if it sounds like when your granny vacuums under the couch
80hp software is heavier... :)
