My I-Pot sat prominently on my kitchen island unused until I found you ladies in RUclips land. YAY Thanks! Granny Gear
Kristen, I had to share my thoughts with you on this very easy lasagna recipe! The size in the spring form pan was perfect for a family of 4, even 5 if there are young kids. I used your recipe to springboard mine. The timings were perfect. I was raised by my Italian father who LOVED to cook so red sauces are very easy for me. To make it a bit interesting, I made this wickedly good by turning it into a meat sauce (I was not raised to do meat sauces, sorry dad!) and adding to it my Italian red wine sauteed mushrooms! I took my time, made my mushrooms first and made them just as we were going eat those as an appetizer with crusty garlic toast. In the mean time, I cooked my hamburger meat, adding the usual spices as if I were making grandma's meatballs. I drained, then combined the ground beef with my mushrooms. I then added diced tomatoes to the mix. I let it simmer until nicely thick and a rich red in color.
My ricotta mixture always has an egg or two (my kids and father would cringe at cottage cheese, lol), depending on the amount. Most people love to add parsley for color. I find that I prefer to use oregano. I also add garlic, salt, pepper and grated Asiago. I go by smell. After I mix it, if I can smell the garlic and oregano along with some Asiago, then I know it's perfect.
I did use your oven ready noodles, however I am OCD about piling bits of noodles to fully cover, so I take the oven ready and I soak them in hot water, just enough to make them pliable. They cut beautifully and it really cuts down on the amount of noodles you need. Each layer only took two noodles using my method. So this took a total of 6 noodles with scraps left over. I used the 7 inch spring-form pan that was included in the Instant Pot Baking Accessory Kit from Sam's Club. I wish there were a way to submit pictures!
It was important to me that you know how much I appreciate you as you have given me the ability to cook like I was taught to but within the time constraints of being a single mom with an autistic child. We think YOU ROCK!
CSB - Thanks for sharing! I love your suggestions!
ABSOLUTE gamechanger for time-starved cooks, busy moms and weekly meal prep!
Wow, thank you!
Your videos have made me OBSESSED with using my instant pot, where I was so scared to use it before I found your channel! ❤
Oh girls you have no idea how much I love my Instant Pot and now that I have found you all!!!! I loved how it turned out!!! Made it tonight and everyone loved it!!!
I LOVE the Six sisters! All of their recipes are easy and simple! I love that they use great value food from Walmart too. It’s easily accessible and affordable for me.
I made this tonight and it was FABULOUS. I added two cloves of crushed garlic into the sauce. I also used a 6-cheese Italian blend cheese as I didn’t have plain mozzarella. Turned out SO good!
Just got my own place with my own little family I was always scared to cook my husband bought me an instant pot, it was the best thing thats ever happen to me ! Its such a life/game changer 🙌🏻 love watching your videos I feel excited to cook thanks for all the great recipes!
I loved Six Siters! I have an Instant Pot but I don't know what to do! I'm learning! Thanks for the video!
Ok, so Camille must be a Car Girl! I hear that term “FULL SEND” a lot in the car world and just made me laugh when she said it! Just bought our First Instant Pot and can’t wait to try the recipe. Thanks!
Hi Girls, So many different recipes for lasagna but you know what, this one is going in my file for my Instant Pot and will be the only one I make from now on, since it is just hubby and me, plus us ole timers don't eat so much. Ha ha, who am I kidding. We will demolish it!!! Fantastic girls. Who would have ever thought the Instant Pot for lasagna. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Take care and many hugs. Thanks for this recipe video. Claudia
Great ideas! I liked hearing the questions and answers during the prep. As always I follow your recipe and then twist it with what I already do. (You can also use zucchini instead of noodles to go low carb. I slice them, pre cook a bit and then use paper towels to reduce the water in the zucchini. )I use ricotta cheese without the cottage cheese which is traditional. I love that you ladies make it easy to use my IP. Lasagna usually takes so long to bake. So much easier and faster in the IP. Thank you so much for your inspiration! Love your channel and have turned family and friends on to you as well.
I too have used lengthwise cut zucchini to make a vegetable lasagna. BUT...NEVER COTTAGE CHEESE!
Love the leopard print on you 🐱 oh yes and GREAT recipe 😂
Love my chop stir utensil! I discovered it was great for a quick chop on nuts. Love your Vlog!
Oh lasagna lasagna, love it as much as Garfield does! 😻😼😹❤️
We had this tonight for dinner. Are used what I had left in my mozzarella shredded bag and I found a circle of mozzarella but I was going to use for something else. Oh Yum. That cheese was awesome and I could taste all of the herbs that you suggested. Oh wow. I could just about get up now and go down and sneak some more!!!!
Happy election day!🇺🇸
I loved how it turned out 💗💗
Anyway, I love your videos. And I have learned so much about my IP from all of you. Excellent videos.
Wow, I can’t wait to try this out!! I’ve never used the uncooked pasta before and didn’t know how but I will try this and if I fail, well I’ll just try again. Thanks so much for sharing this video with us.
Carrie
So happy I found your channel! Love your recipes! Yum!
I am new to your channel, and spent all weekend printing off recipes from your website. I made my first Instant Pot meal with your Creamy Shells and Beef. It was so delish! Thank you for the recipes, videos, and how-to's. It has made my foray into Instant Pot cooking so much easier and far less intimidating. You gals are awesome!!
I'm so glad! Welcome Welcome! Happy that I could help! Hugs!
Do you have a link for this recipe? 😊
@@carriebateman4465 If you go to sixsistersstuff.com the recipe finder pops up. Click "main dish", then "beef" and it pops up about 3 rows down "Instant Pot Creamy Shells with Beef". It was a winner I will be making again! I actually just made their Instant pot stuffed bell peppers, which were also so good. Making Honey garlic chicken next!
Love this recipe!
Do you have other instant pot appliances? I just recently got the instant pot air fryer and I'm getting the instant pot blender. Would love recipes on those if you had them as well.
Great video! Thank you! Where can I get the pot you placed everything in?
Thank you ladies for the recipe you always make delicious meals that so easy 😋🍛❤
First of all, I HAVE to try this recipe. However, I would use the trivate to place the lasagne pot onto (easier to remove) or use some kind of sling, again for easier removal. I "may" change my mind, after doing the recipe. Gives some great jumping off points, regardless. Keep up the great work!
Y'all Be Safe!
Great tip! Thank you! You too!
It would be super helpful to know how you got such a nice looking slice out of the deep pot. Mine is deeper than the one used in this video and I'm not sure how I'm going to serve it. LOL I can't wait to taste it! I used oven ready gluten free noodles.
Great teamwork! Equally charming and fun to watch and listen to. I would have liked to see how you cut the lasagna and got it out of the pot it cooked in. I'm sure it would have been messy, but hey, as you say, lasagna isn't meant to be a work of culinary art. Also, can you do a deconstructed lasagna with no pot-in-pot? That would make it even easier. Brendan, in snowy Toronto, Canada. Love your channel!!!
Okay what KIND of other pot can you use in the instant pot?
I am going to try this recipe this week
Thank you for making this video, could you put a link to the pan that you used
Where did u get the pot you are using for the lasagna I like that pot I want one please tell me where
I would like to know as well... I cannot find it on Amazon.
Italian heritage over here and I LOVE cottage cheese in my lasagna. Unless you can find an extremely fresh ricotta cheese in your area (made same day), or make ricotta yourself, you wind up with a grainy lasagna. All the ricotta cheese brands you can find in supermarkets are garbage. Cottage cheese is always creamy. Don't dis it until you try it!
If you don't like aged ricotta, how can you even consider using cottage cheese? "Cottage cheese is always creamy." WHAT?
Could you please put the name of the pot you used? Not the instant pot but the other one w the handle.. And a link of were I can get one?? Also will this pot fit a 6 qt instant pot? Thank you and God Bless You
I would like to know that answer as well. I would like to get a pot with a handle or a like to the one you used or could you share how you made it?
She's using a 6qt lux model
I'd love to know where they got that pan they made the lasagna in, with the handle
@@brianmolinari9665 they are available on Amazon. I think they are called steamer insert pans. You can also look up accessories for instant pot and it should come up. Some people also call it pot in pot.
@@debracarns2305 did you ever find out where to get the pan? If so, where did you get it?
Wow - this was interesting! No bechamel sauce! Neither a sauce with the meat and the tomato sauce. I always do my own tomato sauce in my blender with tomatoes, fresh basil, oregano, onion and garlic, salt and pepper. Let it simmer while I prepare other things for dinner. I add my minced meat that I’ve precooked.
Plus I always make a bechamel sauce.
Have to try your version which looks awesome! Thanks for the inspiration!
Much better pacing on this one. 👍
Love the process, but as an Italian no cottage cheese in lasagna. But I do appreciate all the videos
Ha Ha Ha!!!! You are not the first Italian to tell me that! (cottage cheese just happens to be my most favorite food!) ha ha.
Six Sisters' Stuff haha I’m
A Jewish Italian and I use ricotta in my kugel too, no cottage cheese :) I’m
Glad you took the comment with a grain of salt. I love your videos. I have a good page on Facebook and I hate nasty comments. It wasn’t meant in that vain.
Yuck on the cottage cheese
I've used cottage cheese and cant tell the difference
Every Italian Nonna cringed and hit the “stop” button when you added the cottage cheese.
I just purchased the new Instant Pot Crisp, that comes with an extra lid that let's you broil, air fry and bake. I imagine I could just leave the lasagna in the pot, uncover it and broil the top, couldn't I? There are other brand pots and lids that already do this, but I'm just getting started with it, haven't found many recipes using it.
I was expecting a different type of pot but didn't leave disappointed
Ha Ha Ha!
was wondering what kind of pan with the handle you used in this video for the lasagna?
I can not find a pot that fits inside my instant pot pot to do this pip method.
Hatrigo had a fantastic pot available on Amazon. It's a nice deep pot that fits nicely in the 6qt.
So much easier if you put a silicone trivet in first im pretty sure you have one this is delishbut i didnt use cottage cheese thx for all your recipes
Oh my dern!!! Yummmmmm🎄🎄🎄
Just received my instant pot in the mail😍 I was curious if you could use the ekovana stackable pans to make lasagna ? Thank you!
What was the pan you used for the lasagna? What was the size? Thanks.
Yes , the pot you created! I want one!!
One more thing I have a lot of Turkey left over..can you guys do some freezer meals..were would I find a cookbook? Thank you again and God Bless all of you
What is the make and model of the secondary pot with the wire handle you use to make the lasagna?
I love ur instant pot recipes!!! Thank u! One question, can I use a spring release pan? Will it come out the same?
Trisa Smith yep it’s actual what they recommend in description of video :)
Carolyn Owen thx, I was watching it in mute cause my son was sleeping, my bad 😆
Yes Yes! I would let it cool for a big if you decided to release the spring release pan though!
if you take a long piece of foil and fold it into a strip, it will make it easier to lift the pan into and out of the IP by slipping it under the pan.
Thank you for your reply.
Still a great video. I have to try this out.
Looks good. I can tell you are sisters, you look just alike!!
So trying this for the first time tonight for my second meal ever in the instant pot! I used the springform pan, and once I was done layering, red sauce was seeping out a little from the bottom. Is that normal, or did I do something wrong? Fingers crossed it still turns out okay lol 🤞🏻
Please tell! How did it turn out?
T L besides red sauce seeping out the bottom of the pan, it actually turned out good! The lasagna recipe itself was delish. Considering it was my first time making lasagna, let alone using the instant pot, I might have done something wrong to have had the red sauce seep out. But overall it turned out great!
Thank you. Found it!
Where did you find the inner pot? I can't seem to find one that is tall enough with a handle to make the lasagna..My InstaPot is 6QT
I used a 7 inch Pyrex bowl but you can get a 7 inch pot in pot on Amazon
You gotta be kidding me with this.
does it have to be "oven ready" or can you boil regular noodles and use those
I have a question, can you show how you'd prepare frozen meals such as Trader Joes frozen meals. Thank you
Where did you get the pot you put the lasagna in?
Do you Sisters have a recipe for Spanicopita?
Hello S.S.S. My favorite I.P. Channel..Why not an opinion, review on the new DOU EVO PLUS Instant Pot? Subbed, and always a thumbs up!
Love these new videos and I bet you love not using the IP on the floor :) Look forward to Mondays for new IP recipes and I make sure to Copy Me That to save them for later.
I love lasagna
How do you do it in the 8 q duo crisp and air fryer? can you use any metal smaller bowl?
Is there a link to the pot you created? Thank you
Do u have to do pot in pot?
Yay...lasagna!
What is the size of the pot you used for the lasagna? All the ones I find are little
I’m just not understanding what the advantage is here or using the Instantpot. Seems like it would be easier to do the entire dish in the oven. (?)
I don’t either, in this case. You don’t save that much time - pressurizing time + venting time + browning time - might as well do it in the oven from the get go.
Less mess in the kitchen, less pans and washing, less time to cook really. I hate using my oven . My whole upstairs heats up. Don't have to check it. I make soups and meat dishes that you put over rice in my instapot the most. Also I can set this up for my husband. Put it in the fridge and when he gets home he just has to put it in the pot to cook. No thinking for him involved. He gets home at 4:30pm. I get home way later. It goes to warm setting so he doesn't even have to take it out.
@@melissabridge5687 good points
Cooler than baker. We use it to cut the heat and keep our home cooler.
This works for us truck drivers and if you don't have a over in your RV
I’m still waiting for them to sell the Instant Pot in Australia, they said around mid to end of December, seriously can’t wait.
oOo. Just thought you might think about the 8 qt. I.P. even if you have a small family. I wish I had. There are only two of us, but I would rather make a big pot and freeze some. It would save energy and I would have meals ready in the freezer. Even if I wanted to cook less, I could in the larger pot. Can't make more in the 6 qt. Also they have fill line you can't go over. I filled my 6 qt. to the fill line with water and then measured it and it was only 4+1/2 qts. that you can actually cook in it. I love it but wish I had bought the larger one.
Loretta Overholt thanks for the great advice.👍🏽
Can I ask a question? Can you use a plastic liner like for the crockpot in the instant pot?
Samantha Hill Burhop I’d also like to know :)
I bet before the instant pop they were masters at the microwave!
I love watching your videos but can you do recipes that do not use an instant pot for people that do not have one? Thanks!
How did you get the lasagna out of the small pot? It seems as though cutting it while still in the pot would be next to Impossible.. Thanks so much
@@Lucy92037 You wouldn't use a container like that. They recommended a spring-form pan that breaks apart making serving easy. See below the video ("Show more") for her link to one.
I am new to their channel but I've seen a few videos where they dont use the instant pot
Can you use the silicone lids that come with like the molds in the pot or just the foil?? TIA- Lisa
Yes.
Is there a way of getting the calories for these recipes please 😊😊😊😊
What type of pan are you using? I just bought a fat diddio for cheesecakes but don't want to use for lasagna
Fat Daddio will work great. Try using a silicone stretch lid to cover it. I love those lids.
How do you know how much time to set every recipe?
No salt, pepper, garlic, oregano. I appreciate your videos but the lack of seasoning is inexcusable.
Add your own I do this is just the basic recipe you can even add sausage 😉
@@58sewgood I got you👍, but don't you imagine how a dish is going to taste when you watch someone make it? It kind of disappointing to watch a dish being made, that you know tastes bland. Just an observation I had in the moment.
Fyi, if you add 1/4 cup of cream to your ricotta cheese mixture it will not get grainy after cooked. It will stay creamy and smooth and tasty.
I cant get oven ready lasagna at store - they're only selling regular lasagna Is there an simple fix for this? More water, more time? something ...
I saw a video where a man soaked regular lasagna noodles in hot water for 10 mins and he said his lasagna turned out perfect. I have not tried it. Let me know how it turns out if you do try.
Is there a way to print the recipes
Where do you get the recipes?
I wish you would have showed us how you cut it!
I cut mine like a pie. It was perfect.
Could you use a silicone lid instead of foil?
Great recipe. It would be good if you encouraged your watchers to use a protective covering on their hand, when
manually releasing pressure. Otherwise, they could end up with a very bad burn, from the steam. And, FYI, the vocal-fry in your voices is quite noticeable.
How did you make that pot?
I liked the recipe idea so much, that I let the two commercials play ... hope that gave you at least a nickel in 'income' :)
Well, I guess it happens to all at one time or another. I made this lasagna a24 minutes then when I picked up the spring form pan and was taking it to the broiler then my hands slipped. I hand fallen yesterday at knee gave out and there it went all over upside down on the kitchen floor.
Yes we had a neighbor over. All I could do was apologize.
My next lasagna will be in a 9x13.
So did everyone else’s noodles come out only half cooked??
My noodles were still hard after it cooked. What did I do wrong? I used oven ready noodles. Hopefully cooking it again will help... maybe for like 10 mins. I'm so frustrated.
Most cooking gimmicks don't work. Take the time to cook quality pasta and most importantly...DON'T USE COTTAGE CHEESE!
Maybe try soaking the noodles so they are wet when they go in? And use cottage cheese if you want!
Love your channel. However in this case what is the point of browning the meat and cooking onions in the pot? Would be easier in just a normal pan. You obviously have to wash the pot prior to lasagna going in. I love my instant pot but also love using the right tool for the job.
That's what I did when I made lasagna in my instant pot
What did I do wrong? tried this- even with oven ready noodles- took longer... maybe too many layers? I read somewhere to soak the noodles for 5 min. Ever tried it? I really wanted to do this again...
Most cooking gimmicks don't work. Take the time to cook quality pasta and most importantly...DON'T USE COTTAGE CHEESE!
Wish I would of known I needed all these extra accessories when I bought my instant pot. I want lasagna and it takes too long. I dont have an extra pot.
Are you able to sell your pot you created?
That's actually what we were trying to do - but with all the new Tarriffs - it was going to be really expensive! So we are looking for other options right now!
You could turn the saute off while assembling...
Why didn't u fry meat separately, ? I get it , but u r not selling a cooker
They don't say how many it serves. I usually make a big lasagne, this looks too small, maybe for only 2 people??
I have a pot that's slightly deeper and made this. It's a tall lasagne rather than flat. It will definitely serve more than two people.
You lost me at cottage cheese. No Italian in my family ever used cottage cheese.
same the italian in me can't use cottage cheese
Just leave it out.
Ah, fuggedabouditt! Be flexible then, no need to rip her recipe.
Ok, let’s not get our nipples twisted here. I just commented on something that is not traditionally used in lasagna. Now, I am very complimentary to the Six Sisters. As a matter of fact they are informative, and helped me a lot in using my IP. But if you’re going to add something that isn’t a part of a tradition, I’m going to comment on it. That’s all. These lovely ladies are very capable, and mature enough to know there was no malice in my comment. Isn’t this what RUclips is for? Anyway, MAGA. Trump 2020.
I find these comments about cottage cheese interesting. I think we Americans have added our spin to many ethnic dishes we have come to love. I have only made lasagna once, about 50 years ago. The recipe in the cookbook included cottage cheese. I thought it sounded odd, but turned out very good. After a lifetime of working the afternoon/night shift I'm now retired, and can start cooking again. I'll give this a try.
Can you skip the Ricotta and Cottage Cheese?
SuperCandyjunkie yes I do all he time
@@leelongeway7117 Same. Recipe I use I got while living in Europe. White sauce is a rue with Parmesan.
There’s no mushrooms in lasagna
I did exactly what you said , and noodles didn't cook
Oven ready lasagna?
I really like watching your videos but have a hard time seeing all those ingredients being wasted. Do you save that meat when your rinsed out the instapot? Did those extra mushrooms ever make it in the pot?! 🙈😂
