They don't know about nen, somehow, and I assume the fights they've previously seen where mostly confined to the arena, so it makes sense they wouldn't be too worried. Don't know how the matches between the nen users in the arena are taken as normal. (Such as when they didn't question the ghost hand user's ability, the one killua threatened)

Guess Chrollo was always 2 steps ahead of me lol Hisoka is my fav HxH character and I was pretty mad at how he got punked by a damn crowd instead of the 1 on 1 fight he had. But Chrollo went in there to win not to fight so can't be mad at him really in a fight to the death. You either play to win or you die.

People keep saying Hisoka’s revive is plot armor and all that, but like c’mon he used his bungee gum and took advantage of the fact of post-mortem nen,so he programmed the gum to save his heart and that shows us he is smart as we already know.
And Togashi set the stage for him to be revived, he already introduced after-death nen, and indicated that was hisoka a strategy so it seemed a lot less cheap

I like how before the fight really began, Chrollo basically spelled it out for Hisoka that he isn't going to win.
Togashi also said he made him say that on purpose because usually villains who say this proceed to lose their fight. What a genius that man is.

I'd pay a lot to watch this animated. While I liked the manga before this, I wasn't feeling it as much as where the anime left off until I got to this fight.
There's a lot of setup that had to happen for the new arcs. It's like the chimera ant arc. First half was slow and nothing too amazing, but after all the plot elements were set, it turned out to be one of the best arcs in the series.

Luis Perez A lot of people think that. My wife and I were talking about that the other day. I just hated the narrator over explaining things that I felt were pretty obvious, and it felt like the writing was just either subpar, or downright laughable at some points. It felt like a completely different show and not in a good way.
Also seemed strange that they just threw the chairman at mereum and then proceeded to introduce a bunch of really really strong hunters that were essentially no where to be found during the chimera ant arc.
To be frank, I would have been much more interested in a fight between adult Gon and mereum and the mere fact that we didn’t even get that but got a roflstomp on Pitou seemed silly.

One detail I really like but didn't pick up on at first is how Shalnark's death actually lines up with his fortune from the Yorknew arc:
* "You must not phone, because at the most important time, it won’t work" - Chrollo still had his nen ability
* "You wont be able to answer the phone, either" - Machi couldn't reach him because he was already dead
* "one time out of three, on the other end will be the god of death.” - This is the third time he's been shown using his phone since then (1. He used his ability vs. Pell, 2. He got a text from Feitan, and 3. The call from Chrollo)
Every Hunter video that you release always teaches me something I never clicked onto. That's why you're the best anime content creator especially when it comes to hunter. I didn't really consider why Hisoka now poses such a threat to Chrollo now that he doesn't have the vital abilities of the two Phantom Troupe members at his disposal... damn Hisoka is hype
i thought the reason hisoka was specifically going for those two was because chrollo still had their abilities "stolen", so they were easy prey for him.

I read the manga when it initially released so correct me if I’m wrong but I remember a panel where chrollo stated one of the powers he used was from a dead person, after explaining that he couldn’t use a dead person’s ability. - shortly after, you see a panel of what looks like hisoka is pissed.

nah this has nothing to do with our feelings, togashi just doesn’t wanna finish the series.. he said it in several interviews, he says the manga company was asking too much of him and he couldn’t handle the stress since he is already struggling with a chronic health condition. Therefore if we ever do get the rest of the series it won’t be for another at least 25 years and it is going to be written by his wife :’)

Excelsior yep but the Zoldyck did kill one of the phantom troupe in his presence as he didn’t know they were coming so we can tell that chrollo is a strategist who is a much stronger opponent when he goes over every single scenario. In a fight where he’s caught lacking I mean he could win ,but he’s more then less likely to lose against Silva or Xeno in a one on one , but take him knowing they will fight and going detail by detail he would win. His power is strong ,but he is at best when planning before he actually fights.

The juxtaposition of a complex, prepared character vs a straightforward, risky character.
Tactical with a artillery of nen abilities vs spontaneous with only one nen ability and one alone.
Contrasting between the two is just great and what the results do blows out everyone's expectation.
Chrollo won the battle, but not the war,
Hisoka lost but also gained more power from post mortem and killed of two of chrollo's people/abilities.
but whats even more wild is that bungee gum contains the properties of both rubber and gum.
Also his mind is upgraded, he doesn´t believe himself the best, so he has matured in a way, and he is not gonna be playing, he would set the conditions, no his enemies, he is more dangerous cause he isn´t arrogant like before, he has change his ways, i believe now he get´s pleasure just by killing, one of Hisoka´s weakness was his sexual obsession in fights, that make him lose control, if he has lost that he is more dangerous than ever

Wow, this is really cool :p it would be great if you did that for more super important parts in mangas, as it makes it easy to understand and appreciate.
This is a great fight. And will be awesome animated. While I am a Hisoka fan, Hisoka losing this fight is actually more believable. Hisoka's personality is driven largely by having fun in his battles and he essentially always takes risks and gets injured even when there is literally no need to be injured by far weaker opponents. I am sure he works on his battle skills (basically by engaging in battle all the time) but I don't think he tries to develop a specific fight strategy to utterly remove all means by which his opponent can retaliate. That would NOT BE FUN for him. So given his reasons to fight and his arrogance, if he battles someone who is truly very powerful, there is a high chance that he will lose. Chrollo is not fighting Hisoka for fun. In fact he has been avoiding that fight because he MIGHT lose and he has ongoing longstanding plans/goals in life and does not want those interrupted. When Hisoka finally could not be avoided anymore, he planned very very carefully how to remove all chances that Hisoka could win the fight. This just highlights what motivated each fighter in this battle. Unless Togashi had decided at this point that the Phantom Troupe no longer had any purpose in the manga, the outcome of this battle should have been obvious. Hisoka had to lose.
That said....
While there is no doubt Hisoka lost this fight... In the bigger "chess game".... Hisoka acquired some significant advantages. He forced Chrollo to finally accept a fight. To win, Chrollo basically had to "cut off" 2 of his own "legs" by stealing the nen powers of two important members of his troupe rendering them far less useful. He had to show a lot of his hand and abilities. Hisoka on the other hand arguably gained from this battle. He figured out how to use post mortem nen (and I don't buy that this was a plot device. If ONLY Hisoka used post mortem nen, then sure. But Chrollo ALSO used post mortem nen which delivered extensive damage (explosions) AND allowed him to CIRCUMVENT the restrictions of his original specialist power... honestly making the "stolen powers" motif a broken power... so there are complaints that can be lodged on both sides for this deus ex machina style power). Additionally, Hisoka now recognizes he has to be serious when fighting strong opponents (so Chrollo lost his biggest advantage.... Hisoka's arrogance and whimsy). And finally Hisoka killed the two spiders that granted Chrollo essential techniques to defeat him.
I can't wait to see a rematch (if that ever happens). I suspect it will be a darker, more bloody match. And the outcome may not be the same.... Can Chrollo find another strategy to beat Hisoka? or is the clock ticking now on his life?
Agreed fully. I think from a writing standpoint, Togashi didn't want to make one character more powerful than the other, so he had Chrollo stack the deck in his own favor for his win (his abilities now are absurdly broken), and will also have Hisoka do the same with his post-death nen so he'll defeat Chrollo. That way, both of them get a win, and it opens Hisoka up to face off against Gon in the future.
Except the manga will never get there. This fight came out of nowhere because Togashi knew he wasn't going to ever write his way there and wanted to get it over with, or perhaps he got bored of waiting.

I hope so too! The level of strategy and preparation chrollo used for this fight was insane. I mean if you’re hisoka in this situation how do you even go about battling someone with access to so many different abilities. Not only did he have like 7 different abilities he used them in a creative way
@@jeremyroberts8822 well hopefully hisoka learned his lesson by now, his big weakness was his over confidence which killua pointed out way back in chapter 61 where hisoka was fighting with gon in heavens arena, hisoka gives too much room for his opponents, and that led to him giving the necessary time for chrollo to gather and collect what he needs to assure his absolute victory nobody should give someone in chrollo caliber that much room..

Honestly I would die for this to be animated in an ova in the 2011 hxh style since the anime ended a while ago. I'd prefer things to be continued down the line when there's more manga to work off of, but failing that I'd love this to be an ova or something

Adrian21 If you think about it, it was almost as if hisoka got jumped just with stolen abilities as chrollo showed. If you were Hisoka you would cast honor to the side too. There’s a time and place for that pride, fighting for sport and honor type shit, Hisoka had a wake up call and realized not everyone fighter fair. It’s only right for Hisoka to pick the gang apart and go back to the head leader.
I still think Chrollo would’ve won , there is a reason he’s the leader of the troupe plus considering how well he did against the Zoldyks , my money would be on chrollo
That would be bad for Chrollo. Hisoka can adapt to almost anything and his one nen ability is one of the most versatile abilities in the series. It would be a ver yeven fight, but I think Hisoka would win. 100% chance of winning is the only acceptable one because if there is a chance Hisoka will take it and even with 100% he still was able to live. And Chrollo wouldn't have some of his better things like being able to use abilities without a book which he made specifically to to fight with Hisoka.
@@mikoto6719 Although Chrollo is the leader of the phantom troupe, Hisoka disposed of two of its members right after the fight with ease. I'd argue they're both pretty strong.
But yeah, I agree Chrollo seems to be pretty good at fighting one on one. It's either in his favor or they're tied. However I could see Hisoka use his bungee gum to mess with Chrollo's book if he got too close and win off of that

If you read the fight with determination, you will notice all those details. Dammit! Togashi is a genius

Where was the make him sweat part? Chrollo literally entered the fight telling Hisoka he will 100% win LOL. Even Hisoka's two hits on him were planned so that he can have an excuse to plant the bomb

Togashi is a genius. Putting all other anime fights to shame. Hes low key letting all the top animes like hero academia and demon slayer that their fights are not on his level lol.

One thing that I found really interesting about this fight is the fact that chrollo had to heavily rely on his nen abilities Instead of outright fighting hisoka hand to hand honestly just goes to show that yes chrollo is an awesome fighter but hisoka is pretty much on a whole other level when it comes to physical fighting and raw strength

Isn't this common sense? Supposing they are equally talented and trained, in a physical fight, Chrollo is less likely to win. Why? Chrollo is a specialist, and Hisoka is a transmuter. Transmuters are generally physically stronger than specialists, who has the least effeciency in mastering enhancement. I wonder why people complain that Hisoka lost because it was not hand-to-hand or literally 1 vs 1. I mean have you forgotten that you're watching HxH not DBZ? Nen battles are different.

The whole fight I was like hell yeah but at the same time I’m like wtf happen
Hisoka knew he head a disadvantage against Chrollo because of the location of their fight but he agreed anyway since he's been waiting for so long to fight Chrollo and can't control himself anymore, now that Hisoka is on the hunt for the Spiders he can attack them at anytime with his hatsu stronger I guess since nen gets stronger after death.

They should do a special event like a three-part series just to get this animated and put a really good budget into it
the fact that chrollo had to think that hard to figure out a way to kill hisoka and still technically fail just shows how strong hisoka is

It was a lob-sided win, I don't know where you're getting that Chrollo "technically failed" when he 100% killed the man and only through post-mortem nen did he even came back to life. Hisoka is resilient if anything, but that doesnt mean that Chrollo didn't win
He only wanted a 100 % win. He would’ve won regardless. Hisoka isn’t even top 10 strongest hxh characters.
