everyone complaining about the bad performance from matt and mark...this is a SOUNDCHECK not a performance. No one goes 100% at soundcheck. They're just getting the levels and monitors mixed. They give zero shits about being in key and don't want to blow out their voices before the actual show. Real musicians know what it's like.

I'm amazed they carried on without tom. I understand bands change members all the time bit to replace the main songwriter and someone with such a distinct vocal style is crazy
@@humanexe5451 well it’s debatable. It was mostly Marks vision at the time to keep Blink in the earlier 2000’s era of sound. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing if they themselves hadn’t aged any. But as you’ll see with nearly all musicians, styles change and things have to progress (hence why Tom had other projects in the works, as did Mark). In the end though, Mark wanted Blink to try and recreate that early magic like enema. Tom was bored and wanted something more experimental based with more synth, thus angels and airwaves was born (I’m not a huge fan though funnily enough). Tom also started majorly getting involved with UFO related stuff as well, so it was just a gradual pull away that was going to happen either way. Since of course, Mark didn’t feel the need to switch it up very much (which is very evident now from songs that have similar lyrical content and chord progressions). I believe Neighbourhoods was a solid representation of where Blink could of kept heading deeper into.. as I say though, it wasn’t meant to be. Now with Matt, it’s like they’re chasing after what they used to sound like.. but then not totally getting there (the early 2000’s have been and gone, plus they aren’t getting any younger and Marks struggling even more so to stay in key). My total opinion here: The glory days were evidentially with Tom, since both him and Mark founded the band. Right now Marks the weaker link, and unfortunately didn’t want to take more risks to move forward. Despite hiring Matt.. which was obviously a decision made by Travis too. Matt works as a stand in musician, but his sound is the most ideal for alkaline trio. I don’t think a good move is chasing that magic dust that made blink.. blink! What I mean by that is.. if I was to put it simply.. they have to move on from lyrics that talk about school and teen angst. Although it’s much more than that, there’s a quick example just to sum it up. I understand keeping the appeal for younger audiences, but it’s just a bit awkward since they’re pushing 50 years old (Marks 49). Fair enough if it’s older songs, but I’m speaking about the newer tracks from the past 5 or so years. Tom wanted to move on from this, but in the end that didn’t happen. So, that’s why there’s still comments speaking about him 👍
travis may not have those gospel chops or super complex polyrithmic.. but you know its travis once one hear it on a record ... also when you see travis play drums, makes you wanna go practice ...
I don't hear it. Would you mind listing some songs where Dave plays similar? I know Dave loves his triplets but I've never really heard him play hertas.
People are hating on this performance but you’ve gotta remember, blink was never good live. Never. They never had good vocals or at least not from Tom or Matt. Travis is always awesome though!
You're out of you're fucking mind lol.... musically speaking Tom *sucks* at guitar and is _aways_ out of key. Skiba doesn't project near as much as he should and is honestly flat a lot but Tom is fucking disaster.
Tom is more iconic but musically he is not better than Skiba however, the guy can write good songs and nice licks too. So, maybe Blink 182 could be : Mark Hoppus -> bass/singer Tom Delonge -> lead guitar/singer Matt Skiba -> rhythm guitar/vocal harmonies Travis Barker -> drums
Blink's guitar and lyrics always sucked, just they sold an image and their songs were catchy. The only musical talent in the band was travis. After Tom left, I am surprised he did not join another band. I think part of it is the money. You realize you just play the same shit you have been for years, and bank endless amounts of money. Travis is prob the best drummer I ever heard.

Those splits tho! His hand/foot splits are my favorite.
Poor Travis has to deal with two musicians who are past their prime.
