People usually looks down on him and say he is overrated, and claims there are many drummers out there that plays more technical than he does. But to me his drum arrangement is so unique, he adds so many to Blink's songs and all of his creativity, passion and attention to his craft really brings a lot to the table.
As someone part of a bunch of different rock/metal communities... I don't think I have ever heard anyone who knows music look down on him. Lot of people say it's not for them, sure. But not looking down on him.
I’ve never had any trouble playing his stuff. But I have always thought it was amazing. It’s the perfect balance of simple, speed, and perfect technique. I will say though, I couldn’t sound like him if I tried.
I'm not a drummer but this was one of the first beats i learned. Feels so good to play. IDK if you'll see this but the beat by Travis in 155 by Plus44 is insane. I've never gotten it right.
Travis is the example of what an expert ADHD drummer can produce. He uses the whole kit in places most would drive straight ahead and does it so well that you couldnt imagine it being played any other way. Great unique parts with a very humble personality that I've never heard talk negative about anybody. Doesn't get caught up with internet or hollywood dramma.
The editing is getting really, really good in these videos, sir! I really enjoy the verse beat in Stay Together For The Kids. It's simple, but really groovy and it fits the feel of the song perfectly.
Your videos are so amazingly crafted! I have a lot of respect for the video quality, animations and the sheer amount of time it must take to plan/edit these videos! Keep up the great work!! ❤️
I've always appreciated Travis taking it to the limit live, but be SO SOLID and creative in the Studio. A true master! Great breakdown Gabe, thanks so much for this! Can't wait to check out more!
I wish barker got a little more recognition. I think he's one of the greats of our time, in my humble opinion. I'm not a drummer myself, but I absolutely love his groove in "when your heart stops beating" from their +44 side project.
Dude, congratulations. Your production value-cinematography is amazing. The best for drum videos. Thank you for putting the effort and extra time to deliver quality content.
You have the best drum channel. I’ve been playing almost 20yrs and you’ve made me want to be better and have made me better. Thanks man. Don’t forget God gave you this gift bro. No shame in using it for him.
this video has opened my eyes to these things that i never noticed before. i have no idea about drumming, i cant even read notes but for example the 7x10 sounds more tinny, sounds cheaper, which adds to the "just playing in your garage" sound, which makes it more punk, which makes it more authentic. incredible.
Thanks for this video! I’m taking notes and as Travis is one of my favorite drummers, it’s great to hear some insight and be able to take notes on how you debunk these methods that I generally wouldn’t think about on my own.
Dude, this is the best drum theory vid I’ve ever seen. Your cut-to scenes are perfectly placed where I wanted to hear the explanation on the kit. Doesn’t hurt that TB is in my top 3 drum influences but still, this was great! You rock socks bra 🤙🏼 keep it up!
That Black Wax snare is the exact one I'm looking at getting as an auxiliary. You pretty much solidified me getting this through your video lesson! Sounded awesome here.
Great video, Gabe! I love Travis too and this breakdown was very helpful. I would like to see more of your analyses! Editing and camera work is so good. I got a good chuckle out of the little hand!
You and the other I Prevail guys should reach out to Travis and see if he's willing to guest on an I Prevail track... he did like a hundred collabs last year alone.
i like the content of you're channel as well as the way you teach people bout drums, but what is really amazing here is the creativity of the edits and the practical effects... subscribed
Bro, I still to this day can not play “Time To Break Up” song all the way through, one of the grooviest Travis’s beat ever (for me), also his fills after 2nd minute and the one at 2:35ish, where he just runs fast single stroke chops around his snare, tom and hihat still to this day give me goosebumps lol
Dude I just learned the song and I was like "This is fun but easy" until the bridge... I really fucked up and had to slow down a lot and figured out how to play it. It took a little while but surely shut my mouth.
Loved this one. Never really thought about how he adds in his fills at different beats then the perceived normal, and it definitely adds a unique touch! Also the animations in this video were stellar : ) Although I'm a member on DBO academy, I often find myself scrolling through RUclips for drum videos and stumbling upon another wonderful DBO lesson which I haven't yet seen
I really like how far your videos have come with editing and the content 🤘🏻 always entertaining and much appreciated for keeping us involved with the videos! 👍🏼
For me, the genius in it is that Travis seems to be recreating something falling on the floor as all those kicks are the rebound and those last ghost notes and hihats are those last small rebounds near the floor. That's NEXT LEVEL! Complementing the lyrics and music and adding drums dimension into it
If u do make a series analyzing different iconic drummers u should see Paramore's Zac Farro! He has some insane and fantastic stuff in songs like "Careful", "Decode" and "Let the flames begin" Rly cool vid btw : D
Nice vid. Travis was what brought me into liking Alt Rock and drumming back in high school (97-2001). I liked his groves and how it fit the song. He's not the most complex drummer, but efficient and groovy - and yes, great fun fills. Went on from Travis to Buddy. Have you explored tools drummer? I think he's the most complex modern rock/metal drummer still alive today. Favorite Drummers are Dave Weckl, Buddy, Vinnie, and Tony Royster Jr.
Dude your videos are getting very entertaining with your editing, love it! I think the main thing that makes Travis such an impressive drummer are his Rudiment skills. He is a player that has a great foundation when it come to rudiments, and it comes through in his playing. Another drummer that can say the same thing is Luke Holland. Practice your Rudiments people!
The key is always playing for the track 1st, then truly locking with the bassists. There's a reason Steven Adler's work on Appetite truly helped to make it the #1 selling rock album of all time.
Great video man! I'm a guitar player and singer, but I love drums! Particulary as they relate to songwriting and how different rhythms effect the perception of a riff. You're definitely keying in on some great concepts in beat maturity, sound, and being tasty with fills and creativity. It's not about flexing your drum, or guitar chops every second of every song. More about serving the overall package, and finding cool ways to lift the whole picture. Great job again on your vid and drum playing!

Oh and let me know what drummers beat/fill I should break down next!
I like the one in the intro of No Future
Ghost on the dancefloor.
Hearts all gone and everytime i look for you
The bridge in Time to break up is insane. I’m talking about the half tempo groove with 3 out 4 ride sounds.
my favorite is the intro of violent which travis barker play in concert
People usually looks down on him and say he is overrated, and claims there are many drummers out there that plays more technical than he does. But to me his drum arrangement is so unique, he adds so many to Blink's songs and all of his creativity, passion and attention to his craft really brings a lot to the table.
Also his drumkit is very basic, kudos to Travis for making such rich and complex beats with the most basic kit out there.
As someone part of a bunch of different rock/metal communities... I don't think I have ever heard anyone who knows music look down on him. Lot of people say it's not for them, sure. But not looking down on him.
They are mostly lying or haven’t listened to enough of him to really know I’d wager
I’ve never had any trouble playing his stuff. But I have always thought it was amazing. It’s the perfect balance of simple, speed, and perfect technique. I will say though, I couldn’t sound like him if I tried.
Sound is everything, so you are having trouble. Play loud and consistent!
love to see old Travis beats still being covered today! great video
Barker reminds me of a crappy drummer, only worse.
@@machinebeard1639 shitty b8
3:13 that CBS performance at 113 bpm... Travis had a broken right foot, he’s hitting all the kicks and hats with his left
DUDE. The cowbell part on "Feeling This"?? it sounds SO simple but is so tough to actually apply lol
I'm not a drummer but this was one of the first beats i learned. Feels so good to play. IDK if you'll see this but the beat by Travis in 155 by Plus44 is insane. I've never gotten it right.
You will…
I feel like there is a secret editing battle between you and Brandon
And I love it
Haha if there is... he’s winning
Nah ...you both are man!
Where do they get the motivation to sit and edit videos like this 🙌🙌🙌🙌.
I mean these folks have real balls!
It’s a lot.

Damn, those editing skills are insane! It represents very well the way to visualize the notes. And of course the drumming and video, amazing.
The editing is getting really, really good in these videos, sir!
I really enjoy the verse beat in Stay Together For The Kids. It's simple, but really groovy and it fits the feel of the song perfectly.

I think this might be one of the best edited and presented drum lessons I've seen. Great job dude
I hope theres other youtuber doing like this, specially guitar lessons
Your videos are reaching other level production.
❤️❤️
Seriously
True
Down is definitely my one of the fav blink song

You went all out with SFX for this video, this is sick! Never seen anything like it in a music tutorial
Love the editing and graphics in this vid. Very entertaining, well thought-out and informative. Thanks!
Great video as always! And those edits keep getting better!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Man's got some dope editing skills
Thanks for this video! I’m taking notes and as Travis is one of my favorite drummers, it’s great to hear some insight and be able to take notes on how you debunk these methods that I generally wouldn’t think about on my own.
Love Travis' intro in Always! That rim part is amazing
Wow, amazing editing and content!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Subscribed!! 😀
I absolutely love how much effort you put into the animations in your videos!
Love this video and editing.
the editing is sooooooo good!!!!
My favorite is Always. The patterns in that song are so cool
Youre really good at video editing man.
Just finished playing aliens exist and needing some tips. This seems like a gift, thank you!

Excellent breakdown of the beat. Your intricate and meticulous analysis is appreciated. Also excellent production on your channel very clear and crisp

Great video! Love that smaller snares sound!
This is one of those songs that I absolutely love to drum along to, it's just so much fun

Holy editing magic! Amazing work!
Great video, loved the editing!
Travis Barker is the reason why i play drums
drummer inspiring me to not only get better at drumming BUT also video editing
Dude your editing is insane

The editting on this video is so awesome! Well done @DrumBeatsOnline !
First vid I’ve seen of yours. Haven’t played drums in 15 years but it’s still loved the content. Keep it up brother!!
My favorite drum performance of all time is Travis barker in Watch The World. So interesting and outside the box for 2002 pop punk
The drums on the bridge of «First Date» are absolutely ridiculous.
Dude I just learned the song and I was like "This is fun but easy" until the bridge... I really fucked up and had to slow down a lot and figured out how to play it. It took a little while but surely shut my mouth.
Great groove. Feels like the back beat is in the back seat while the kick is on the hood of the car like some Mad Max shit
Loved this one. Never really thought about how he adds in his fills at different beats then the perceived normal, and it definitely adds a unique touch! Legit brother I've been practicing this beat so much lately and this video is gonna help tremendously thanks for another great video
Lots of great stuff in this one....please do more of these breakdowns. Not that I can play them, but some day..... :D
You got it!
the editing of this video is on another level nice work
Those last ghost notes sound way better on the second snare. Crazy how much of a difference that makes.
I really like how far your videos have come with editing and the content 🤘🏻 always entertaining and much appreciated for keeping us involved with the videos! 👍🏼
The production and editing quality of this channel is amazing. Great artist as well.
Always a great informative video. Always helpful. Make sure you get on the DBO list. Gabe is an amazing teacher.

Great video. I have played before, but I don’t have drums. I’m getting into the kit again and I love seeing this stuff
I loved this beat as a kid
I'm always happy when >I see the collab with Brandon. You both are outstanding editors and simpatico guys........
I found my path through you Gabe ❤️🙏🏽
pleaseeeee keep making these videos, love them!
Quality of this content is off the charts.
that is some really great video editing. im not a drummer. but this stuff really helps me program drum loops for my recordings! subbed
Amazing video quality. Well done
If u do make a series analyzing different iconic drummers u should see Paramore's Zac Farro! He has some insane and fantastic stuff in songs like "Careful", "Decode" and "Let the flames begin"
Rly cool vid btw : D
Great suggestion! I love Zac Farro!
@@DrumBeatsOnline I’d like to see Dom Howard of Muse :)

The editing is crazy, great video
Barker is a beast! I shudder to think of what Blink would have been without him.....
Bro not sure if its you or if you hire someone to dot his, but the editing of your videos is getting really top notch. Good job.
Loved this video man. New subscriber here. Also, I’ve been a drummer for over 20 years, and Travis Barker still blows my mind. The guy isn’t human.
The production on this is fireeeeeee. Great stuff man !
Love this video production
Really cool video editing! Nice touches but nothing that overshadows the drumming content.
Glad you liked it!
Love Travis. Nice lesson, man. Production is on point. Your lighting is siiiick.
Bro his groove in the First Date breakdown is insane. It's like he sprouted another pair of arms
Absolutely more of this.It was great :D
So glad you liked it!
Great edit dude.
Great presentation, good job.
This is the most incredible drum RUclips channel to ever exist.
