THANK YOU!!!!! I go through purges of ads in my email all the time, and this year I quit social media and instead pay for RUclips premium, just as you suggested. I didn't even realize what the lack of ads was doing for me but now that you mention it...I'm much happier and also have bought way fewer things that I typically would have by this time of year. Holy crap I love your content. Thanks, Kara.
I prefer shopping in person, especially 2nd hand! Don’t have to worry about paying for shipping, and I know it fits before I purchase. I’m way more tempted to find/get random stuff online (probably bc of all the ad tracking 😩)
Thank you for making such thoughtful content, as always! One thing your video has made me consider, is leading ads down a rabbit hole so they don't target me with things that speak to me, but instead make suggestions of things I'd never be into [like F1 racing]. 😉 also, it would create friction in my browsing and maybe help curb a bit of the media addiction. Thanks again for your content!
I hate ads for the fact alone that they´re made to actively waste my life time while also trying to manipulate the primitive parts of my brain I can´t even control. Let alone for all the negative environmental and psychological effects on society. Since I´m living on the countryside, I usually order my stuff directly at the local farmers and bring it home from the weekly market. For everything none food related there´s the internet. Sadly it can´t be avoided entirely, especially now that half of the local economy just died during the pandemic. BTW, can we please talk about how utter disrespectful it is to *deliberately* annoy someone and then make them pay to stop? It´s like legal mental blackmailing.
Is everybody that psychologically weak that they can't simply ignore an ad? Any ad? That's scary. I've never been swayed by an ad. If I want something I know how to look for it. If I can't afford it I'm not going to get it. But ads? I've never been influenced by any ad nor have to have a certain item because I saw an ad. Maybe I'm just stubborn. No wonder my mom always called me hard headed 🤭 I can't be controlled or influenced via ads 🤭 Thank you mom! Thank you for pointing out in hard headed. I always felt like you were giving me a compliment 😁🥰
Doesn’t it feel kind of terrible that we literally have to pay media channels to avoid ads, or the media channels will let their advertisers grab our money instead of them? 💀 Shit is dark!
No, I actually don't think it's a black and white issue like that. Media can't exist for free- writers and reporters and video makers deserve to be paid for their work. So honestly, I'm ok with a level of advertising, and I definitely believe in paying people for work I consume regularly!
@@bravelygo Totally a good point. I think I’m just sick of alllll the weight loss + “have a baby now!!!!” ads I get across every single social media platform, when those things aren’t pertinent to me.
There's a solution. Ignore them. Yes it's as easy as that. Just don't pay attention to them. It doesn't take practice, it doesn't take skill, it doesn't take a strong mind or willpower. Why is it bothersome? Just ignore them.
It's ironic that you use a platform that uses ads to make it free for viewers to watch your content. Everyone has free will. I don't think ads are ruining our lives.

Good for you on quitting social media!! It's such a major difference in lifestyle and spending when you step away from being online constantly
RUclips premium was the best decision. Made up the deficit by cancelling my Amazon Prime. Taking a social media break indefinitely.

A fellow in person shopper! We DO exist! hahaha

Then you're foolish.
