I was going to use the word insane as well. The tempo is so up, I love this. However, playing at this tempo means being super on it... and they are.
First time I have heard this version. Instant fan. This is awesome. Big fan of blue grass and Bruce Hornsby.
Without a doubt one of the best bluegrass collaborations ever.....every song on this CD is an absolute winner !...Just the idea that Bruce could take this very somber song about civil rights and make it into a bluegrass tune is simply stunning...the communication between the musicians on this CD is utterly astounding.....
I love the joy in the players. It multiplies talent, and there was plenty to multiply.
At one time a live video version of this was on here but they took it down. It was great watching the chemistry as well as LISTENING to it. Wish we could have it back.

Vince James the counterpoint between Ricky and the bass makes up the rhythm section. no drummer needed. love the conversation between piano and mandolin.

An old rocker can love Bluegrass.
This incredible song was in many a victim of the kind of production that was super-popular in 1986. But the best songs don't have a "decade." They're timeless, and removing them from the context of their dated production is a great weight of showing just how good the "bones" of the song are. It's great to hear it in an all acoustic context as a reminder of that.

Absolutely love it. But one question. Is this slightly sped up? I listened to some other versions of them singing it live and it sounds a bit lower and slower. Either way. Really, really good.
Donny Rausch It's up pretty close to a whole tone..(almost in A) when it's really in G.....This is the original live track off the CD but sped up.

No, it's actually sped up, compared to the album it's taken from (Cluck Ol' Hen). Skaggs doesn't usually sound like Minnie Mouse.
