I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I have watched "A Little Chaos" so many times (I would guess 50 times) and still have the desire to keep on watching it. Love it!
Me too, so don't be embarrassed!!! It is just such a romantic and amazing movie! I love those types of movies, where the characters are getting into a romantic liaison without knowing or wanting.

Actually plenty of women worked in that era. There were lots of chamber maids, house maids, ladies maids, milk maids, farm maids, seemstresses, laundresses, coocks, etc. and believe me, they got their hands dirty and rough by working those proffesions. But her character was a woman in man´s area of career and that was unusual.

This is such a Traditional, narrow, prescription, of manhood. I Adore Matthias, but for the complexity of who he is, not for backward simplistic reasons. And male attractiveness is not one Basic thing.

I must say I am disappointed in Ms. Winslet. “A real man”? As opposed to what? To play such progressive roles, and yet have such traditional ideas about the male body. Matthias Schoenaerts is an utterly striking human being. Inside and out. I am as undone. But there are, of course, multiple ways for a man’s physique to be delicious. Besides the cliché of being taller and brawnier than an average woman, and therefore latently dominant. How does this still have to be explained in these times, and in these circles? I find the comment harmful across gender, especially from someone representing a liberated ideal, at least on camera. (One additionally has to wonder if it is a slight to the most iconic acting partners in her trajectory, which would be undeserved.) Ms. Winslet is a legend, a beautiful and brilliant actress. The public can use more nuance in future though.
