English is Matthias’ third language ( Flemish and French being his first two). It is amazing that he can express his thoughts so well with such wonderful vocabulary.
I love how Salma talks about business and economics (which is supposed to be a masculine topic), and how Matthias talks about emotions (which is supposed to be a feminine topic). Away with the stereotypes! We´re all people!

Matthias speaks heartfelt about the woman's role on earth...she has purpose which needs to be respected...he's very conscious and challenged the fact that ''all of a sudden" some men forget that were born of a woman and they start loosing their respect for the beauty and intelligence of women...

THIS WAS EXCELLENT. She is such a force. I want to see her in more things. Always. She so brilliantly cuts to the heart of a very complex matter and dissects it beautifully. To his credit, Matthias kept his mouth shut and listened as wisdom came pouring forth from the mighty Salma. I've seen so many interviews where the man feels like he has to actively contribute or interject constantly and it was so nice to just hear her uninterrupted.

The only thing I see is your cynicism. This a 46 year old Mexican actress making movies all over the world. Even producing them herself. What's wrong with taking your clothes off? Her body her decision.

A behaviour like that is called hypocrisy, dumbass. But I assume your brain cells can't work that out, because the majority of your blood is in your penis hm? smh of the blindness and dumbness of some people on this planet.
Look at the bigger picture though. There's no problem with a woman being a sexual object just like there's no problem with a man being that.
The problem arise when that's the predominant image and roles regarding women. Salma has taken her clothes off,true but most of that was done when she was young and not as cultivated as she is now. And that's not what she's tried to make her entire career about either so I don't think calling her a hypocrite holds weight. All she did was tell the truth.

Great interview! I think Matthias Schoenaerts was a little stressed about talking on this sensitive issue and he didn't talk much but even him being there is enough! And he's not alone! Not all men turn their backs to this issue, there are a LOT of men who support equality of women and men in entertainment!
I would be stressed out too, now a days sometimes it's even worst have to talk about this issue in front of the world, cause every word you say can be misunderstanded if you don't really pay attenction on it. And this issue is even a lot complicated to speak about, it takes so much time, so many things to say, and before say something you have to think about what you want to say under any possible perspective and make sure it will not be misunderstanded, cause if not you will be eat alive. Matthias, by the way, sais everything should be said "stop talking about gender, go over it, see throught it, and watch the human soul behind it".
I think it's fair when it comes to gender discrimination Frida gets the most time to talk about her exerience in the business. If he would take up more time, it would not feel right & I think he knows that. Salma has encountered much in her carreer, only fair she gets the most time...

if you still have to say the word feminist or feminism, it means that we're not there yet, we never have to say the word masculinist or masculism right? the idea is not to be a feminist but to be humanist, when people hear the word feminist people immediately think about women who hates men, but we don't hate men, we love them, we don't see them as sex objects, we see them a person & we try to understand them because they're human, the same as we are.

I absolutely love seeing strong, female characters and leads in film. But I think she’s wrong if she thinks women don’t like rom-coms. The movie doesn’t necessarily have to be comedic, but many women love romantic movies. You can still have an amazing story line, with a strong female character, that also is very romantic. Far From The Madding Crowd, which Matthias is in, has a rich story at its center, with a strong, smart, forward thinking lead female, that is also very romantic and has a beautiful love story. Please make more films like that!

My guess would be Daniel Espinosa for the film 'Life' that came out in 2017. It has two female scientists in space but neither of them are of hispanic descent.
In the East, there were independent women even 500 years ago. Srilanka had the first female head in the world, for eg. The West was very much male dominated till 70s.

Listening to this four years along. "As soon as they see money, it would be instantaneously different." It's slow, but there is movement. The increase of number of women directors and women led films in the past four years has been hard fought for! But women-led movies are making money and money talks...
