The Lions were Jaguars Zazu was a Toucan Pumba was a Peccary Timon was a Tayra The Wildebeest were domestic Cattle Rafiki was a Balk Uakari While watching though, I couldn't help but feel like the hyenas could've been Giant Otters. I still love the idea of them being bush dogs though. Also I know that otters are pretty sluggish on land, but they are pretty terrifying and the only predator that can mess with an entire pack is an adult Black Caiman.

Now I wonder what a US version would look like. Mountain Lions? A ground hog instead of a meerkat? There aren't any monkeys or apes native to North America, so what would Rafiki be? 🤔
Cougars or mountain lions would probably be the lions since they’re the only “big cat” in the US. Timon would probably be a prairie dog, the closest animal to a meerkat in the US I can think of, while Pumba would be a wild or feral hog. Rafiki would probably be a black bear since they can stand and walk on their hind legs and sort of hold onto things, at least with two paws that is. The hyenas would probably be wolves since they’re direct rivals with cougars like hyenas are to lions, and a pack of them can actually easily kill an adult cougar which would fit in with how Scar dies. Zazu would probably be a raven since they’re known to have symbiotic relationships with the predators of North America, and although it’s mostly with wolves they can also follow and assist cougars as well. And of course, the herd stampede would probably be that of bison or more preferably elk since they’re more likely to run and form a stampede in the presence of a threat than bison, who are more likely to form together and protect themselves against the threat. And since the hyenas caused the stampede in the original, and if the hyenas were wolves, bison or elk would fit in since wolves are some of their top predators.
I don't know if anyone know this 😮, but why does Muffasa or its jaguar version 🧐 , look like tezcatllipoca the trickster god from Aztec mythology 😳😳🤯🐆🇲🇽
