One of the announced villains is the High Evolutionary. He's famous for taking animals and "evoloving" them up to humanoids. At one point in the comics, he even made a second earth, populated all with humanoid animals, but built like Earth, so maybe they're using some version of that story in the movie. It would explain some of Rocket's backstory and make an interesting antagonist. Same way that Warlock may be an antagonist that turns things around. Definitely fun for them to add on after the heat of last week's Holiday Special!
Emotions were still running high and they devastated me with this.
Counter-Earth, I've forgotten about Counter-Earth. I didn't make the connections since I've never read any stories with Counter-Earth, but only heard about in Marvel Universe handbooks or quick recaps.
@@GameMasterToolbox The otter that Rocket hugged is Lylla, his on again off again girlfriend. She was similarly evolved like Rocket, and had adventures with him. It's definitely High Evolutionary and Counter Earth.

@@alphanerd7221 Yeah. What you said. Seriously, before the movie GOTG, the Guardians had a tiny audience. I had been collecting and reading comics since the mid 80s. I knew Groot, Rocket, and Starlord.
I knew Groot as a bad guy, Rocket as a little thieving asshole, and Starlord as an idiot that liked 80s music.
That is how tiny they were, even to a fan of comics.
So my memory gets some of the details wrong. I remember the otter GF, vaguely her name, and vaguely her name, but not the planet name.
A lot of the conversation right now is around Rocket and Gamora, which I totally get. I am sure the Lylla stuff is gonna gut me. But I just want to take an aside and note that there's a short clip in here of Nebula legitimately smiling and cheering, and I gotta say I really hope she gets a happy ending. Would be nice to see somebody that lived a life of abuse and violence not have to sacrifice themselves and get to be a full person again. Crossing my fingers for that.

With the knowledge that this is going to be the most serious Guardians film, with the added knowledge of previous members riding out into the sunset, I'm simultaneously building anticipation and prepping for devastation.
I love the sadder more evolved Peter that's been in Thor 4 and the Christmas special and I'm really looking forward to what they are doing with him in this movie.
He's not actually a raccoon. The High Evolutionary made him into what he is, as I'm sure they're gonna dive deep into.

He's a modified raccoon.
The High Evolutionary modified him along with several others in his genetic experimentations - and it's probably alluded to that the result of those experiments is the town that they first land in at the beginning of the trailer with those creatures with animal faces/heads but humanoid bodies.
In the comics it wasn't the high Evolutionary and he is a Raccoon.

One of my favorite scenes in Endgame was still Rocket and Nebula holding hands briefly when she came back with Tony Stark. Of all the things one wouldn't've expected during Iron Man 1 was a scene where a talking racoon and a blue cyborg could create an emotional impact.
This trailer made me so emotional, and given James Gunn’s ability to break the viewer’s hearts in his films and tv shows, I imagine that I’m gonna be even more emotional when I see this movie.
I can definitely tell that this will be emotional like Endgame (as we may lose someone in the middle act and then the final act)!
Much as I hate to see characters leave, meaningful departures are better than dragging out their usefulness. *Side note* - vocal audio and environmental acoustics sound really good! Were there some recent upgrades to your equipment?

This movie is definitely going to be another super, cool, awesome banger from James Gunn because the GOTG Holiday Special was so amazing and he is with DC going to make that company even better than it was before by making and teasing us with way new upcoming DC projects, Fantastic reaction to this teaser Angela.

Finally. All these people calling it Counter Earth like The Incredible Hulk #271 doesn't' exist. Also, Counter Earth is too stupid for the MCU. The Guardians would have seen it every time they flew to Earth. We would be able to detect it through calculus.
A big indicator of each Guardians movie is the color of the font. Guardians 1: goldfish brown = Groot Guardians 2: Blue = Yondu Guardians 3: Black and brown = Rocket. Plus check out the movie poster and how everyone is positioned

Contracts are up. This is, quote: "The last Guardians movie with THIS team." That means no one is safe. Some may stick around. Some may ride off into the sunset. Some may die. THIS is the true suspense in franchise movies.
Rocket and Groot are safe. You never kill of a character that isn't attached to an actor. That's IP 101. Also, Groot is immortal.
@@alphanerd7221 A reasonable assumption, seeing as they're also the most popular I'd wager. But, who knows--Gunn might surprise us. I'd be more interested to see which of the live actors decided to extend. We already know Drax is 100% gone.

2022 has been all about making otherwise inconsequential nostalgic pop music feel cinematic and epic.
Mantis is Pete's HALF-sister.
We learned this in Guardians 2 when she revealed that Ego was her father as well (through a similar process as how he had impregnated Peter's mother).
Peter has probably hundreds if not thousands of half-siblings all over the Galaxy (if not more), thanks to what Ego did, or was trying to do.
They had that creepy sort of diorama-esque montage to illustrate it.
The Christmas special wasn't the first time we were learning this.
That's called counter Earth. It was created by the same mad scientist who made Rocket. The High Evolutionary. This looks really good.

In the comics, the otter is Lila who is his girlfriend. James Gunn has said this is the end of this version of the Guardians so think we can expect there will be some very sad endings for at least one character.

This is gonna be good. I wonder who was stabbed and killed. Rocket probably, because Drax wants to kill somebody, Mantis is crying, Groot is a tree, Gamora and Groot already died before, I don’t think they would kill her again. It’s got to be Rocket, poor guy.

It's 2014 Gamora who had came forward into the future with 2014 Thanos during the events towards the end of "Avengers: Endgame"

This is James Gunn’s final marvel movie and the end of his guardians trilogy, characters were probably crying because I’m sure one of the dies, maybe even more. I think this will be a great movie but also probably the most emotional movie in the MCU, Gunn really knows how to hit you in the feels. The villain the high evolutionary is the person who created rocket so since it’s delving into rockets backstory and since he has a shorter lifespan than people I think he’ll probably be the one to die, or maybe drax or both. 100% confident at least 1 guardian will end up dying, I think the movie will probably end with the remaining members forming a new guardians lineup or just a new team in general. Gunn has talked about this movie being emotional and the end of this guardians team so I’m fully expecting this to be super hard hitting, I mean even in gotg2 yondu’s death hit really hard and he wasn’t even one of the primary guardians, if he can make a yondu death hit that hard I can’t imagine how hard hitting it’ll be when a primary guardian dies. Lastly I think by the end warlock probably won’t be an antagonist anymore and will possibly join whatever new team the remaining members form. I’m so excited for this movie but at the same time dreading it knowing it’s the last Gunn and guardians movie with this lineup because i know it’s gonna be emotional as fuck. Anyway I’m rambling but great reaction as always

I know you like James gun a ton and you said you really liked Kevin Bacon in the holiday special you should check out one of James Gunns movies called Super!!! Its about a guy (Rainn Wilson who plays Dwight in the office) becoming a vigilante. Its dark and violent but has heart and humor as well. It was my first introduction to James Gunn about 10yrs ago and Ive enjoyed the ride since!!!! Highly recommend!!!

The way the trailer is edited it can lead us to believe that there will be lots of deaths due to the characters crying, seeing Drax being carried with a chest wound or many of them may end up having a happy ending riding off into the sunset. We won't know till next summer, but we do know it's going to be an emotional roller coaster!
At least 1 guardian is gonna die maybe even too, like rocket and drax. Gunn has said this movie will be super emotional and knowing it’s the end of Gunn in the MCU and this guardians lineup I’m certain it’s gonna hit incredibly hard. I’m predicting this to be the most emotional movie in the MCU so far. I’m so hyped for it but also dreading it because I know it’s the last we will ever get of some of these characters we love.

Guardians membership changes a lot over the years in the comics. Will be interesting if they do any of that.
Also Mantis has a role in a very specific story line with the "Swordsman" in the comics that has huge consequences. Interesting because the Swordsman appears in Hawkeye.
I keep hoping that they'll do Silver Surfer film or series.
Rockets backstory is pretty dark and they already alluded to what he went through in the first movie, the drunk gambling scene where they argue on Knowhere he screams at quill about being torn apart and rebuilt over and over again

i feel like the cartoon The Guardian of the Galaxy Origins has somewhat has a connection to this up coming movie
I'm afraid that the signs from this trailer that Rocket will die in the movie because we are getting to know his origin which will help to give more weight to his death. I didn't see Rocket getting off the spaceship with the others when they greet the animal people. Groot is displaying shooting a gun in the style of Rocket which could be him giving tribute to his old friend Rocket.
It seems like they will be delving into Rockets origins this time around... I think that planet of anthropomorphic animals might be where Rocket was experimented on.
Seems like the soundtrack may be heading a little 90's since I'm pretty sure that was "In The Meantime" by Spacehog (1996) playing there (or perhaps a cover, it sounded different).
In any case, I have little doubt that this movie will be hilarious, heart-breaking, action-packed, and have an absolutely brilliant soundtrack.
Just an opinion based on pretty much everything James Gunn has done for the last several years. 👍🤘❤

Hi Angela!🙂I don't know, the music and the scenes seem very sorrowful. If this is the last Guardians film anything can happen. I did here Dave Batista wasn't going to appear shirtless anymore. He said he was beginning to get too old to be bare chested. I noticed in the holiday special he did have a shirt on.

Kane the Conquer is going to be a way bigger probably than Thanos ever was! His presence and power was displayed in Loki, also, he has a unchallenged kingdom in the Quantum Realm, and a consults of Kane's! "They say", at Marvel's studio, we might/are going to loose one of the Guardians in the third instalment. 🧐🤫🤬(Mantis or Rocket)🤔🤫🥱🤬🥱!
Chris Pratt has said that he wants to stay as long as Marvel will still let him make movies. Let's see if he's a man of his word. After that, I'm not sure. I'd really love Pom to stay. Her 'feisty' Mantis is adorable.
This will be the best one yet. But I think that gives us a great chance for a new lineup of Guardians. And that's gonna suck to see so many characters die (I can't imagine only one or two of them dying) 😭

I feel confident that Rocket dies in this last film. First, James Gunn LOVES to kill characters and make us sad. Second, the rumor of a crew death has been around a while and no one involved in production has tried to shoot it down or even address it. Third, I watched an interview with Gunn on "Entertainment Tonight"'s channel when he mentioned both that Rocket was an integral part of the last film and that people were going to be heartbroken (he said those things a few minutes apart in the interview). Fourth, Rocket himself even said he didn't have "all that long a lifespan." I think it's going down. Sadly.
You never kill off a cute character that you don't need an actor for.

I think Peter, gamora, and mantis are safe but rocket has said at least once that he doesn't have that long of a life span and given that we're getting a lot of his back story in this one and the dialog we've heard I think we're going to lose rocket and Dave said he isn't coming back as drax so I think we're losing him too which is sad but beautiful as he's going back to his family. I think Peter's crying is over rockets body and mantis's is over draxs. James said this will be the saddest mcu film so far, I'm really nervous and I'm bringing boxes on boxes of tissues with me

I liked the teaser trailer. I didn't love it but I liked it. I'm going to watch the film regardless but the trailer didn't "wow" me. Hopefully the official trailer will reveal more information that will intrigue me to a greater degree.
I know there will be some deaths in this film but given Marvel/Disney's history of subverting expectations (Tony Stark dying when most expected Steve Roger's demise in Endgame), I will say that the only sure thing I know is that the Guardians of the Galaxy roster will be different at the end of the film.
I'm calling it now: this is going to be a figurative bloodbath. Rocket, Drax, Nebula & Mantis ALL die. We're going to be left with just Peter, Gamora, Groot, Cosmo & Kraglin.

Spoilers back in endgame the Gomorrah from 2014 traveled with Thanos and nebula from 2014 to try and destroy the avengers to try and stop them from snapping and then Gamora became like an antihero. I guess she went against her thanos and left to someplace at the end of endgame

I feel like if Gunn tugged on my heart strings with the Christmas Special, he's gonna straight up destroy me opening night with this one.
That’s 100% gonna happen, we are definitely gonna lose at minimum 1 of the guardians, knowing this is the last Gunn movie and the end of this guardians lineup their is no doubt in my mind that this will be insanely emotional. I’m predicting it’ll be the most emotional movie in the MCU

I have to confess, the Guardians are my least favorite MCU franchise. I’ve never cared for Peter Quill at all.
But Rocket … now poor little Rocket was my emotional doorway into the Guardians. There was so much pain implied in his backstory, and as an animal lover, it broke my heart imagining the horrible things that must have been done to him to make him what he is.
And now, it looks like his backstory will be a focus of Volume 3. If any Guardians movie makes me cry, it might be this one.
Keep your hands off that adorable, defenseless little baby raccoon, you monsters!
