    ► European Parliament, Strasbourg - 24 November 2010
    ► Speaker: Nigel Farage MEP, UKIP, Co-President of the EFD group;
    ..................................
► Debate: European Council and Commission statements - Conclusions of the European Council meeting on economic governance (28-29 October)
    Transcript:
    Good morning, Mr van Rompuy,
You've been in office for one year and in that time the whole edifice is beginning to crumble, there's chaos, the money's running out - I should thank you; you should perhaps be the pin-up boy of the Eurosceptic movement.
But just look around this chamber, this morning. Just look at these faces. Look at the fear. Look at the anger. Poor old Barroso here looks like he's seen a ghost.
They're begining to understand that the game is up and yet in their desperation to preserve their dream, they want to remove any remaining traces of democracy from the system. And it's pretty clear that none of you have learnt anything.
When you yourself, Mr van Rompuy, say that the euro has brought us stability. I suppose I could applaud you for having a sense of humour, but isn't this, really, just the bunker mentality?
Your fanaticism is out in the open. You talked about the fact that it was a lie to believe that the nation state could exist in the 21st Century globalised world. Well, that may be true in the case of Belgium, who haven't had a government for six months, but for the rest of us, right across every member state in this Union - and perhaps this is why we see the fear in the faces - increasingly people are saying, 'We don't want that flag. We don't want the anthem. We don't want this political class. We want the whole thing consigned to the dustbin of history.'
And we had the Greek tragedy earlier on this year, and now we have this situation in Ireland. Now I know that the stupidity and greed of Irish politicians has a lot to do with this. They should never ever have joined the euro. They suffered with low interest rates, a false boom and a massive bust.
But look at your response to them. What they're being told, as their government is collapsing, is that it would be inappropriate for them to have a general election. In fact Commissioner Rehn here said they had to agree their budget first before they'd be allowed to have a general election.
Just who the hell do you think you people are?
You are very very dangerous people, indeed. Your obsession with creating this Euro state means that you're happy to destroy democracy. You appear to be happy for millions and millions of people to be unemployed and to be poor. Untold millions must suffer so that your Euro dream can continue.
Well it won't work. Because it's Portugal next, with their debt levels of 325% of GDP, they're the next ones on the list, and after that I suspect it will be Spain. And the bailout for Spain would be seven times the size of Ireland's and at that moment all of the bailout money has gone - there won't be anymore.
But it is even more serious than economics. Because if you rob people of their identity. If you rob them of their emocracy, then all they are left with is nationalism and violence. I can only hope and pray that the Euro project is destroyed by the markets before that really happens.

It's no coincidence that the richest countries in Europe are Norway and Switzerland, the two countries to continually reject EU membership in favour of simple trade agreements. It's also no coincidence that the countries who's economies underwent the most catastrophic collapses were all Southern European Eurozone countries. Spain, Greece and Portugal are now probably facing decades of economic devastation thanks to Euro project.
And then you have Germany, one of the few countries in favour of ever closer union, and the country who calls all the shots. I wonder if that might have something to do with them having the strongest manufacturing sector, which draws all the talent from across the whole of Europe, decimating manufacturing everywhere else! The entire Euro project is centred around the Germans' ability to make and sell as many luxury cars as they possibly can, and it's killing the rest of us!

Nationalism (from the word:nation=people of certain national=ethnic descent) is a kind of politics that entails giving the management of a nation's affairs to people who have the deepest national consciousness, strongest feelings of national duties and responsibility for their nation and finally the broadest understanding of their nation's standing and tasks. That is National Politics. This is what the Polish NATIONAL MOVEMENT's founder Roman Dmowski wrote in his book 'Przewrót/Upheaval'.

    Белая армия,чёрный барон
    Снова готовят нам царский трон,
Но от тайги до британских морей
    Красная Армия всех сильней.
    Wight Army, Black Baron
A thron for the King start to prepair,
But still from Cybiria to British seas,
Red Soviet Army is truly the mitiest.
Close translation tried to make it sound good...well i tried 8P.

Worst part is Anglo Irish Bank who caused all this shit in Ireland (where I am from) were a PRIVATE company. They begged our government to save them, putting billions on the tax payer, our spineless incompetent government went to Europe and asked "what do we do?" & Europe said, well you better back them because we have invested money in that bank, and so the Irish people have to pay billions to save a PRIVATE company because Europe will loose its gambling dept if they fall.

There is an excellent video documentary entitled "1932-speak not of parties but of universal principles" it's 90 mins long, and I found it on Lyndon LaRouche site, and is also on youtube. @meerkw No the EU is not a dictatorship. It has a democratic parliament, which all Europeans can vote for. Indeed it is this very parliament that gives Farage his platform to speak. It was to prevent the kind of dictatorships that destroyed lives of millions in the early part of the 20th century that the ECSC was formed.

@slinfold1 Norway essentially lives on its huge natural resources. The UK hasn't got these resources. And Switzerland is forced to make many concessions to the EU, for example on north / south transit routes, and that now EU citizens can work there without special visa requirements. Both Norway and Switzerland are signed upto Schengen. And I think quite a few Brits living in other EU countries might not appreciate work permits being introduced.

Who would contend that in my lifetime as population has grown from under 2B to just short of 7Billion currency has become more valuable when only 8-10% of money is in the form of printed or minted money whilst the balance is fraudulent debasement.

@Redhotts THIRTY Years!? It all started with Lyndon Johnson's "Guns & Butter" of Vietnam and "The Great Society."
Remember, it was in 1965 that the US started to remove real silver coins from circulation; one dollar's worth (face value) of silver coinage, pre-1965, is now worth TWENTY-TWO dollars!!!!
How the American people have stood for this steady erosion of the dollar (and this is ignoring how the dollar shrunk 2.5 times in the ten years after WWII) is quite beyond me.

What's happening in Europe with the bailouts of member states, is going to be happening soon in the US with the bailouts of states. In about 6 months, the Stimulus funds will run out, and many states won't be able to meet their bond payments. So, it's either default, or get bailed out by the Federal government.
