I think people get much too uptight about her EU Army. When she was the German Minister of Defence, half of their aircraft were out of operation, all of their U-boots were unseaworthy, German troops were being sent on NATO training armed (Heaven help them!) with broom handles. Meanwhile she was busy trying to organize their Army so soldiers wouldn’t have to fight during school half-term breaks! This is not a serious person. She couldn‘t even organize a straightforward vaccination roll-out for Europe - much less plan a war!

Well, the EU proved Nigel right by not helping Ukraine with tanks and Soilders. If countries with the most wealth were going to be more generous the EU would not have fallen flat. But countries have to believe fighting wars can have positive outcomes for every country to get out quickly and not deploy for to long. Of course taking turns in sending troops instead of everyone going in at once have created long wars with high body counts to match. Of course if countries were feeling wealthier prospective about spending on a military budget changes. Of course your military budget being spent on a country not a traditional ally can be a strain in financially hard times. But that strain has not been taken away from the EU working together. I wish France would lead more and send Ukraine 🇺🇦 tanks. It takes the pressure off of Scholz if Scholz is not the first person who sends them. If Macron said it was his idea as leader of the EU other countries should follow. You can't be a leader and please everyone.
