I was going to say that what the world really needs more of is your beautiful voice. I'm really happy that you are on it! Can't wait, and I have you on Spotify already!
I have watched tons of seasons of The Voice, American, Idol, and X Factor in the US, UK, and Australia and this is the BEST AUDITION IN ALL THE REALITY SHOWS HISTORY
She's had a rough time even after this show. Lots of emotional and mental problems but I think she's coming back around lately. One of the best soul singers out there! And I wish her the best
@johnarndt1501 you need to rephrase: lots of emotional issues and mental health problems...I have these issues also and i take great offense when people reduce us to having mental problems, please use the right language when it comes to mental health issues.
@Torenylfa I have depression and very crippling anxiety and my twin sister has ocd and multiple personality disorder. How am I supposed to phrase it? I just tell people the truth, what's wrong with the truth?
@@johnarndt1501 telling people she has mental problems isn't helpful nor is it the correct phrasing and you say its the truth and i say in my almost 28 years with mental health issues that there's a right way of telling the truth and the rght way and so all i am saying is that we already deal with the stigma associated with mental health/illness so let's not use terminology like mental problems because that doesn't help anyone.
When she came out and sang that night on the Voice I said to my wife I don't care who else they have to sing they might as well go home because there is the winner and I was right she did win the first Voice in Australia and I have 2 of her albums and they are awesome.
I've talked to Karise a few times and she's the kindest soul you'll ever meet. She was telling me about her last album but it wasn't being released in the UK at the time, so she sent it to me! I promised not to tell the whole story, though. Happy New Year! :D
The first instinct I had when I watched that night was that Seal instinctively identified with Karise - he recognised something he has in common with her and knew that he was the right judge for her. It’s one of the most palpable emotions I’ve ever seen on “The Voice”. He nurtured her all the way and took her to victory! This was a well deserved win and her recent RUclips performances show that she has evolved into a lovely young lady.
@@zaphod333I’m not a fan of Guy either although I think he’s finally finding himself and even his music is less full of show off runs now and more grounded.
I always came back to this this Karise audition few times a year. Always end watching here other presentations and always cry. She is insane and has a insane album produced :).
Karise Eden is like the love child of Ella Fitzgerald and Janis Joplin. Her voice is so extraordinary. Can listen to this all day. Great choice in picking her up to react to. She is so soulful.
She is even better live! Have seen her twice over the years when she has travelled to my town. Brilliant......a great singer. Thank you for doing this review.
I remember watching this on the telly when it first aired in 2012 or 2013. I got goosebumps when she sang! An amazing talent! I’ve recently seen posters for her performing around my town. I kept saying to my friends “I know that name but from where?” Now I know and I’m going to go watch her show. Karise Eden is an amazing talent and deserves all of the success!
I seen Karise at this years Echuca blues festival and she blew everyone away , she’s just so soulful . Going to see her again in December, great reaction , thank you
She won this season, even beating Dianna Rouvas, who is the one of the best singers I've heard. She eventually came back and won a few years ago. You should give her a listen too.
I watched this when it happened and I'm just as gob-smacked now as I was then. 20 years on and a roller-coaster for her, she's built a greater life for herself and now says she's doing one more round then calling it quits. I'm glad she's choosing for herself, and wish her all the best. We lose out, however, we can be grateful for all she has done. My fave video of her on YT (besides this audition) is "You Won't Let Me." Knock your socks off and have a listen. 🙃
So happy to find out you reacted to Karise Eden! I had suggested this some time ago. Karise Eden is the best female vocalist ever imo, she's a mixture of Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse, she's got so much soul and power but also such a clear voice as in "Stay with me, baby", I honestly can't think of a better singer.
I remember when I watched her when she first performed. I cried and I cried. Her voice is a powerhouse. She's got a number of songs out now, and her voice is smoother. I miss the gravel. I wish she would get scooped up and go even further because she deserves it!
Ive been listening to her for awhile karise is crazy good vocals. Love all her songs. Maybe you can love,my old friend is so good hopeless also fantastic
She went on to win the competition. Please also check Mo singing Paolo Nutini's Iron Sky on The Voice UK. Similar story growing up. Astounding performance.
Sometimes a person's tones strike straight into the soul. At me, she sang straight into the goal. Great singer, hope the music industry doesn't ruin it.
Beth, I’m sure you’d like to see and hear how Karise has blossomed and developed since this performance. There’s a more recent YT video of her and several other young Australian singers singing Adele’s song “Easy On Me”. She has gravitas and confidence and looks so beautiful. Karise also harmonises well here with Chris Sebastian, (Guy’s younger brother). You may not have heard of some of the others but they’re listed in the heading in the same order that they appear.

Thank you for reacting for this! It's so 💗warming, and even better that you took time to watch the whole sequense. The story is important too... 😍 And I'd also chosen Seal.... he's just a league of his own (well imo... 😉) I'd love for you to do a reaction to ANGELina Jordan's Live performance at age 12 on the same song. Thinks she's inspired by Karise ;) Also intereseting that Seals ex wife Heidi Klum gave ANGELina her golden buzzer on AGT Champions.

She's definitely one of the best singers to kind of "emerge" from the show, globally. I don't think she was really prepared for fame + all the things that come with it and she took some time to kind of step back (plus she had a kid, iirc). Glad she's still making music though because she deserves to be heard.
Her cover of Fleetwood Mac's Landslide is superb. She did a vocal recoding with Rod Stewart i think. She has stepped back from performing as she is now a mother
Heckuva rendition. The Godfather still owns it but she did it justice which is no easy feat. She also not may not be Janis but she reminded me of her, too. Once again, no easy feat.
I think this was the same year that Rachel Leahcar came third. Her first audition was fantastic too. As for the song, as much as James Brown was not a good man around women, I think it is a feminist song.
