    Karise won the voice Australia. During the season, she openly shared how she had been in foster care and used to cut herself. After she won, there were scads of people coming up to her to share their stories of cutting. And being really young at the time, she found it very overwhelming and dropped out of the music scene for awhile.

      @@chriscarroll3470 She wanted no part of the filth of the industry especially in the States. She is hypocrisy intolerant & hates the pomp of it all. She just wants to write, sing & play music, NOT games but the industry is all games. She still has a thriving career here in Australia & we love her dearly. The media tried to chew her up & when she would not play they tried to spit her out. She is very Janis Joplinesk in style & attitude. Luckily she is NOT on drugs so we'll be hearing from her for a long time hopefully.

    It has always baffled me why the US has always cut Australian singers off at the knees and refused to give them the time of day yet as you have been showing on your channel Australia has some of the best in the world, to me it is a shame that the majority of the American public does not get to hear these super-talented performers

    • @westnblu
      @westnblu 2 года назад +16

      Ironically its changing now . With the advent of social media and the internet Americans are only now appreciating many of the artists from down under including those from decades ago. Of course u had INXS and ACDC who were big on the international scene but there were so many more who deserved the limelight too.

      This has changed in recent decades everything is more open and accessible and u have independent artists who can make it without the need for record labels. Im thinking of Goyte from the top of my head somebody i used to know. He released it independently and it was a huge success internationally.

    OK!!!! 19yrs old, and a survivor. if I remember correctly Karise had never had a singing lesson (why would you), had a very troubled and difficult child-hood, and so lived homeless for a while as a young teenager, and then taken in and fostered by a couple known to her family, who gave her a loving and stable home and are in the extended audition video. You can hear all that pain, anguish and emotional resonance in this performance. Can you imagine how the entire country reacted, not just the judges, to the very 1st singer on the 1st Episode of the 1st season of The Voice Australia! The show was much hyped before hand, so there was a huge audience that night. The Baby Boomers, me included, all reacted "OMG. Janis Joplin!". We never thought there'd be another. I strongly recommend you watch Karise's full audition from her intro to the final comment. The judges were Keith Urban (Australian, married to international screen star Nicole Kidman, and international country legend), one of the Madden twins, Seal, and Delta in her 1st experience as a judge on a talent show. Keith's and Seal's faces and reactions are a show all on their own. I bet the entire country would pick Karise's audition as the one they'll never forget. Karise chose Seal as her coach, well chosen, and all her performances on the show are memorable. Seal told her "Your voice is a beast", and coached her well. Karise had only done pub gigs, small gigs, accompanying herself on guitar. Still dealing with the toll her childhood had taken on her, Karise's professional journey has been a bit stop-start, but the whole country understood that this was the nurturing of this phenomenal young woman and her phenomenal talent. Susan Boyle's journey after Britain's Got Talent comes to mind as another much loved singer heals some of the past and develops as a talent in the public eye. Not an easy thing to do. I would drive across the country to see Karise perform! I don't know what Karise has been doing during the pandemic, but I hope to see her perform after the world has stopped heaving. So good to see you've finally discovered Karise Eden. PS: You may not know who Susan Boyle is - a middle-aged singer on Britain's Got Talent years ago who became a phenomenon. Another fascinating audition to watch! My other audition I'd put in the same category as Karise's is Jordan Smith on The Voice America. There's not the pain of the past, not the instant 4 chair turn-around, but the birth of a "What?" and a phenomenon. Jordan's "Somebody to Love" in the final was arguably one of the best performances ever on a TV talent show.

    She auditioned with such raw talent that gave you goosebumps, and then Seal coached her and told her to tame it back. And for so many weeks she was just singing restrained, and then she came out and performed “Hallelujah” and let loose and she melted every hair on your body.

    Karise blew everyone away with this performance and every performance she did on the show that follows. She won, of course. She couldn’t help but win with a voice like that. She took some time out after winning as she had a kid (and I’m pretty sure got married). But she is still singing and making music though she’s not huge yet. She was 19 at this audition and blew everyone away. You should definitely check out some more of her stuff. Her covers of ‘Back To Black’, ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Stay with me baby’ are phenomenal. Brother... this is why you're channel is absolutely the best reaction channel on RUclips and they ain't nothing to debate or disagree about anything ! It's your sub country handing the best vocalist ever . Man Im so glad you're channel was the very first time I ever seen or heard about reaction channels and when I watched a few of your Reactions I suddenly started to realize that I really wasn't as crazy as I thought I was and my family and friends finally found out that what I was trying to explain to them about people singing..... that's what I called it instead of vocalist ,,,they finally started watching them with me and at home to . And I promise you man that this is every word the truth.. I have learned more from your channel than I had my whole life and Nick...I'm 56 years old and I get so tore up soon as I grab my phone and look at your notifications . And at one time I had a very very serious problem with...I'll just say antianxiety drugs . They were a miracle for me until I started abusing them and Bro I thought I'd been to Hell and back but I just started looking around when I decided to get my head out of my Ass and I was buying them off the streets and you'll probably question this part if you ever do run upon this comment but I was taking 20/30 a day and almost every day . But I woke up one night inside of a ER and all my family there standing around my bed and they were happy that I had come out of the coma and that's what it was but it was from to much Benzos and my nephew was the one that found me and he lived with me ever since he was about 13 years old . He was already smoking weed and I bought it for him every chance I got . Long story short.... They hit me with Narcan twice and I didn't respond and they told my family that they would try one more time and if I didn't that time they were nothing else they could do .But first and foremost I totally agree with anyone taking meds as long as they are taking it right. And I kinda understand your situation Mr.TSR and the way you talk about your anxiety and certain things can send mine to Mars and I wish I could have taken care of myself better and especially better for my nephew...He had went down to where his Mother lived and spent a few nights with her and his baby brother and he got up one morning with no warning or talk and walked in the living room and sat down in a recliner and stuck a pistol to his head and committed suicide and it destroyed my life ..... what little bit I had left and that was in 2012 . Brother I'll tell you something and I believe in giving credit where credit is due and first I Thank God for every second and minute of my life and the whole other part goes to my Nephew Larry Nathaniel Burkhart . Again I give God the credit first and then I give You my friend credit and beyond credit because you have no idea how much you have helped me through . And I mean they were times that if I hadn't just went to check my notifications on your channel I would have probably been to a Physc Hospital and left there . Sorry for the history lesson about my life but I needed to tell you that so you can understand just how much you have helped me through .

Pink, for example, recognised she had an affinity with Australians and Australia very quickly, and we recognised it in her, has been dubbed an unofficial honorary Australian. I hope one day you get to visit us here in one of the world's best kept secrets (along with another - New Zealand). I suspect you would "get" Australia. Chris Stapelton Live- Its A Man's World- is one of the best I've heard, but she's amazing too.

    She was mentored by Seal in Australia and has released a few albums. I've seen her live once, she opened for Keith Urban's show in Charlotte in 2016 and had the crowd in stunned silence singing Janis Joplin cover songs. She was better than all the other performers, period!

    Best cover ever of this song. She should be an international star IMO. I'd like to hear hear her sing I feel like a Natural Woman
    Keith Urban was blown away but she chose Seal as her coach.
    She has chosen to be a mum.

      My all time favourite performance on The Voice. I so wished she would have chosen Keith as her coach. I think he would have been a better match for her. Such a kind man with an incredible musical knowledge. I just saw an ad on TV that she’s touring and performing songs from The Big Chill

    Glad I found this to remind me of this incredible performance ... makes me want to find out what's been happening with Karise and check out more music. This rendition really goes down deep into the soul of the song for me the way no-one else has.
