Yeah, that is a bootleg. What you're describing as pixelated is not that, it's just poor DPI from the printer the bootleggers used. Furthermore, the case is not the one used for this release, the spindle holding the disc is different from the ones Sony used at the time. They used a spindle with more of a flat surface. Lastly, there's no security tag glued inside of the case. If this was a sealed copy there would've been one in there. Hope you got a refund.

I have a bootleg copy of Clerks 2. The immediate sign that it was a bootleg was the artwork on the back of the case was fine, however the print description for the movie was for Basic Instinct 2. Dead.giveaway! Lol

I purchased The Three Stooges Collection, Andy Griffith Complete Series, The Wonder years on eBay. They looked real. But I checked them out with a DVD checker and found they had no encryption on them. That's not always a red flag however but also, the originals shows my neighbor had are on dvd-9 dual layer dvds. The ones I got on eBay were single-layer dvds. The video was also compressed and didn't look as good as the originals. One seller sent my item but eBay shut them down so I didn't pay for them. Another seller still sells them. If you see a stock photo and not the actual item that should be a red flag. I find the best place to buy them now is on places like amazon.

A lot of these OOP blu rays are being bootlegged by people. Dead Alive ins another one that is heavily bootlegged. To the regular person, it doesn't look different but like you, i'm a movie collector and can spot these.

I have two copies of the movie "200 Motels" by Frank Zappa. My first copy that I purchased, I purchased it years ago. The second copy that I purchased, I thought I was purchasing a copy on Blu-ray, but when I received it through the mail it was not a Blu-ray copy. It was a DVD copy in a Blu-ray case, even though it was sealed. After doing some research online I discovered that "200 Motels" has never been released on Blu-ray. The only Frank Zappa movie that has ever been released on Blu-ray is the recently released Frank Zappa documentary.

I didn’t even realize this was a thing. I’m a huge collector myself and never even realized people do this. I don’t think I would noticed until that disc gave it away. I’m usually inspecting for damage though.

It seems like every distributors out their are always trying to figure out ways to make money selling products that are cheaply made or are copies from the real things. Example, toys are made cheaply, most of plastic and rubber, most are not even solid plastic but hallowed out to use less plastic and materials, guns now a days are made of plastic, polymer=is just a fancy plastic. I bought my nephew a transformer toy from Wal-Mart, it cost me $50 just for painted fancy plastic! I also bought vapes from Ebay, SMOK products that were cloned and fakes, eBay caught on to those and finally got rid of them but imagine how many they sold before that.

Yikes, I could easily be tricked. I couldn't tell the difference in the pixelated portion of this video. I buy my favorite movies (DVDs), at the thrift store ($2.99 ea) and on eBay (approx $6 bucks each including shipping). So far all play well and look new. Nope I don't want Blue Ray, looks no better than DVDs that I buy to me. *What I'm waiting decades for is 3D movies without having to wear 3D glasses; should've happened way back in the 89s-90s. Its like waiting for UFO/UAP disclosure or something.*

So mad...I just got a blu ray copy of Mother's Day (the 70's horror one)...costed me around $35ish bucks...came with a crappy print out for the cover, no bar code on the back...I'll never order from sketchy websites again

I ordered a DVD off eBay once a long time ago that didn't even have the right movie on it. The disc and case art were right but they wrote the wrong dang movie on the DVD-R. I'm pretty sure I've haven't bought another movie off eBay since.

lol didn't even use the better quality metal-based inorganic BD-R for the bootleg, but the cheap organic BD-R😂
Because the metal-based BD-Rs look more like pressed Blu-rays at first glance

Hello, do the letters "TM" always have to be displayed above the word "Disc" when it shows the words "Blu-ray Disc" in the front of the case? Have you seen Blu-ray Disc Movies without the "TM" in the front of the case? Thanks

Ebay is notorious for bootleg DVD sellers. Main thing to watch for is if you're shopping for a complete tv series and find one listed at a very low price. If you're okay with buying bootleg copies that is fine, I won't argue that some are actually good quality. Turns out my Sony DVD player won't read them properly. You can tell fairly easily on inspection if you look at the underside of the disc and see any color except silver. I bought a box set DVD series recently and each season was recorded on a purple disc which is a dead giveaway that it was done by someone operating out of their basement.

@@horrorchannelakagoosebumps2442 funny thing is that was one I bought. Though it was very well done. The box sleeve was quite presentable and each DVD had a nice sticker overlay, no complaints about it, and the menus featured a preview of each chapter with various scenes showing. I have no regrets about buying that one, however I did purchase another show on box set and it was so horrendously bad that it would constantly freeze and skip parts altogether, rendering it unwatchable. And the discs were purple on the underside, I suppose that is something to watch out for. But not always will you receive a crap copy. Some are actually quite well done. I guess it comes down to how much effort was taken and the quality of the software used.
