If a man sees himself as stoic, mysterious, strong, smart, dangerous or successful..he will often "act" to keep the appearance up. Thing is, he might actually be any of those qualities, but can suffer from self-doubt and often be challenged by another or seek to let them know. That then, is a form of narcissism. A challenged ego. Sigmas aren't all Batman or Mr.Spock.

Your exactly on point. Its a placement of where one is at in their journey in life. Being self aware of your environment includes yourself. Knowing where your at in life Rank wise is a way to see where you need improvement. Not a trophy to hold over someone saying im better than you. I object to using the label "darker traits" for self confidence, and being unaffected by peer pressure! Narcissists use a projection of being superior to make others feel inferior deliberately, that is what makes them dark. A Sigma has no desire to make others feel inferior which is the primary reason they choose to be quite most of the time. If a Sigma believes strongly that someone is spreading falsehoods they deliberately will speak to that person in private first to not publicly embarrass them. A Narcissist gets great pleasure from causing public embarrassment to others while at the same time making themselves look superior.
