So very true. I also grew up on a farm and ranch, observed all, and was a helper….as I grew up I became the doer. Now in my late 60’s I want to teach these skills,…..many are interested in conversation, but not moving in the direction of action. I believe many will as you said, “crash and burn” and the sorrow for us and them is that, that, does not need to happen. I guess “la la land” is their choice. Keep praying! I am.

My husband lost his job in January and I was SO glad I didn’t have to worry at all about food! He got work quickly, but with a pay cut. But again, I HAD FOOD. Now he’s back up to previous salary levels so time to replenish the pantry!

My entire upbringing, we had a two year supply of food storage. Daddy grew a large garden for our family of nine, and we weeded, harvested and canned all summer long. My hubby was raised the same way, and we taught our children, by example, and everyone helped. Now we're teaching the grandkids. This isn't going to end on my watch.

Mine see no reason to prep; no reason to learn something new - they can do anything in their , and their other electrical appliances. And they watch the alphabet news and are told daily that all is well - except for tr**p.

At 60 I am the one who tends the farm, cooks, cleans, while I work a full time job in the heat of S. Texas. I am ok as I am tough as nails but I worry for them because I am the one that fixes, mows, pays, taxis,... so who knows how and is willing to do it if I am gone? I can teach all day but it is pointless if no one is caring enough to learn. They think they are entitled it seems to me. They will figure it out or starve.

I started watching your channel a few years ago after my neck fusion surgery/recovery. A year and a half later, which was 7 months ago I had to have my entire back fused. It's been hard and alot of pain. But your videos encouraged me to stock up my pantry learn to, make bread, can, vacuum seal food, dehydrate food, ferment food, learn from and encourage my husband to grow a vegetables and fruit. I researched and grow herbs now also. I've learned more about flowers and making "potions" and tinctures and have them on the shelves in their little amber colored bottles. I have filled up all the space I have in our small house. My family and some friends have thought I was over reacting and maybe a little crazy. Feels like hoarding sometimes. Lol ! My husband would get upset with me sometimes because of all the things I was buying and mostly because the house is full. But now, they are seeing it. Not exactly where my head is at but mostly. I've been able to help my kids and their children already when they both lost their jobs. So if you ever feel no one is listening or learning from you, just know that you have helped me and I'm sure a lot more people than you will ever know! I thank you for this! God Bless you! I've felt crap will hit the fan it was just a matter of time since 2020. I have faith that it will work out, but also know we are called to prepare. So when I hear that voice telling me when I pray for guidance, knowledge, wisdom and strength for the world and for our faith based leaders, I know the good and the righteous will come. Thank you Petera 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Patara thank you for sharing and inspiring us. At 75+ my prepping is very different. As a young bride canning and gardening came easy. Not anymore. If we do our best each day we will be better off than yesterday. Got some more can goods today. Bought some seeds too. As for what I’m seeing? Gas was $3.89.9/gal today. People in this community are filling the shopping and dining parking lots both day and night. Everyone seems to be going on vacations or buying fancy phones and new cars. It feels like riding on the Titanic. Scary

Something that I've noticed is that I can know something and agree but I get overwhelmed with what I have to do to take care of myself and my family. I know that that is absolutely a lame excuse, but, even as a prepper I am sometimes lulled into false sense of security. I have people tell me I can't just live always thinking about the worst case scenarios. I am doing what I can do so that I can be prepared for what is going to happen, but, sometimes I do have to stand back and take a bit of a break so I don't go crazy.

My father taught me one single thing that has served me well, "Nobody owes you anything." That includes a job, a roof over your head, food on your table, a safe comfortable place to lie your head while you sleep, unemployment, a social security check, medical treatment (even if you have insurance), policing service if you get robbed or attacked, an education, etc. In other words, you MUST be self-sufficient and assume there's no calvary coming to save the day. Ever. I have lived my life by this basic principle from a very young age (under 10) and it has served me well. I also don't get too upset or depressed (ever) if things don't go my way. I never blame any other person or situation when shit happens and it does to everyone from time to time. We call that life. I just assess things, fix the problem to the best of my ability, and figure out what "I" need to do to not encounter the same problem again. No use crying or getting depressed over spilled milk. Just fix it and move on. If you take personal responsibility for your own needs, life goes a whole lot smoother and is a lot happier. 🙂 And I would definitely be that 1 out of 10 watching the practical how-to video. You can NEVER have too many skills or learn too much knowledge, especially regarding skills useful in everyday life. But I have alwayw liked learning practical stuff, and creating stuff, and building things, and trouble-shooting stuff. I'm an executive living in Asia, but those Texas ranch roots never die.

I used to watch a ton of videos and all of it gets wasted if I can’t actually DO something with the information. I value everything you teach. I especially appreciate your cooking videos on how to stretch left overs and make it into something new (ie: magic soup) and your gardening content since I don’t have my own garden yet but I want to learn as much as I can now. Since time is so precious these days, I only consume educational content on what I am currently implementing or am researching so that I can implement it next.

Great video! I prepare the best that I can. I stink at gardening, something always goes wrong and no crop to harvest. This spring I invested in outdoor cameras and someone came into my fenced in yard and poured something all over everything. My flowers, vegetables had this sticky stuff all over them and my rocks. Bugs and fleas swarmed in. I was stunned at the video and this has happened the last three years. I'm heartbroken. My neighbors who haven't experienced what I have, we have formed a pact with each other to barter our things between each other. They help me with trading canned goods that they have done from their gardens, for jars of buttons, clothespins, first aid items, or a case of water or puppy sitting for a couple of hours for them. I don't know and haven't figured out the person coming onto or into my yard, but I'm thankful for my neighbors. I truly love them like family, God bless them ❤😊

People make fun of my gathering, shall we say. But..when they need..they don't hesitate to see if I have!! I grew up in the military, and during the Civil Defense Era, as it was ,, we always had to maintain a stockpile of emergency supplies. Maybe that was so deep-rooted in me that I've always stayed prepared. Maybe I've overprepared. When I find sales on things I always use, I set in a supply of what I use. Just want you to know, you and some other Podcaster and homesteaders woke me up. I'm still stuck in a city but I'm in idaho and the large backyard I have is now home to chickens and a huge backyard garden! I got the tools and the books to prepare and I'm constantly learning new skills! Because of you! Take heart and let's continue to pray, pray, pray!!!

Have faith in your works. Even if only 20% of the people are doing something, you made a difference. I work in a middle school and have to take the wins when I can. PS, I agree with you, get them out of public school. Put me out of a job PLEASE
