Theoretically it is a mid size car, but im talking relative - as in generally as a car. Generally as a car it is big! And it is heavy weighing almost 1.7 tons! May not sound like too much or seem to big as cars constantly are getting bigger - but the Giulia (to me) is a big and heavy car!
Great video. One of the best and most interesting car impression videos that I have seen lately. The reason the Giulia QV sounds so unique is because it is actually two 3-cylinder motors joined at the crank to create the V6. 3-cylinder motors have a unique (and angry!) sound and that really works in the Giulia QV's favor I think.

Chris Harris: "Is it (Alfa Romeo Giulia) as good as an M3, objectively, No I don't think it is". (Chris Harris Drives Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio). Enough said...
I'm pretty sure Harris drove in an pre/very early production model. Considering that this is the first foray back into super saloon territory for Alfa in 20 years, I'd give them a little leeway in getting bedded in. The progress in the first year or so since first releasing the Giulia for those first reviews is about 7 seconds quicker at the Nurburgring (fastest 4 door saloon in the world) and a quantum leap in reliability/satisfaction measures after ironing out initial bugs (now above BMW and Mercedes by metrics). Almost all testers after Harris have went for the Giulia.. Probably no coincidence.. The Giulia you will buy right now, today, is almost certainly better than an M3... Not sure the brand new 3 series platform is going to change that fact.. We shall see!
Not sure what you're basing your guess that Chris drove a preproduction model that was somehow not up to snuff? To that point, I don't think he was even comparing it with the BMW CP. From some of the videos I've seen, people who have had a chance to review it like it, but often do point out glitches in just the one day of driving. Consumer Reports rated Alfa #4 of the 10 worst car brands (MAR. '18) BMW's not on that list. I'm not hating on Giulia, I actually like much about them. Speaking for myself, I was in position back in May and considered C63S, Giulia & M3 CP. All the cars at this level are amazing, and I could go back & forth over performance, styling, reputation and reviews. For my money I went with BMW CP.
He drove a car with the transmission and Q4/Q2 setup not finalised for market (as you can see on the video) Essentially all early videos on the Giulia mentioned the transmission setup still being in limbo at that time. As mentioned, final ZF 8 speed rear wheel drive setups you will buy today almost universally have come out beating C63s and M3s in reviews and on track. Consumer Reports? US organisation? That wouldn't surprise me, as Alfa seem to be parachuting thier assault on the US market from a standing start by initially utilising the existing woeful Chrysler/Fiat dealerships. Again, as previously mentioned, apples to apples (European networks) the Giulia is now coming out ahead of the M3s, C63s in satisfaction/reliability metrics. As well as having them beat in almost every review and, of course, on the track.

@@carpediem5952 Verbatim quote from fastestlaps.com BMW M3 vs Alfa QV (the place you quoted to look): "Summary Verdict: Giulia QV is fastest by a small margin". Whoops! What is being missed in all of this is that Alfa has parachuted back into the Super Saloon segment from a standing start and is competing (usually winning) by most metrics against M division and AMG with their undoubted advantage of decades of incremental experience. One, that is astonishing. Two, it points to the inevitably that the Giulia is only going to improve on an already winning formula with the benefit of similar incremental tweaking. Case in point: the brake by wire system that you (somewhat exaggeratingly) pointed out felt less than perfect on earlier reviewers. Software updateable! Been done! I don't need to "be your guest" regarding trying/buying the Giulia. I'm over a year into ownership. Not one single foible on two cars (one non QV). Perhaps you may have seen another comment I made on this video regarding my mates (newer!) M4? Been back to BMW THREE times already, including water ingress causing terminal corrosion and loss of all electrical systems. There is a man who spent more money on his M4, yet now freely admits he prefers the Giulia when driving it! That's not one of the many RUclips/motoring press reviewers that chose the Giulia, that's someone choosing it over his own, recently purchased car! So I know a thing or two about envious and regretful BMW drivers, as there is a running joke going on daily between us in that regard! All mostly moot anyway, as all new cars have warranties, incase anyone had forgotten! (Who are these people that are buying new M3s, C63s and Quadrifoglio's that are then keeping them past their warranty expiration?) I quite often hear the lazy, unsubstantiated "Alfa reliability" meme brought up as if it were a) still true and, b) even relevant in this regard. Part of the magic of the Giulia, is that it is also supremely comfortable when required. Almost unbelievably so. I'm talking on a par with something like a Citroën C6, which I have previously owned. Ferraris "Bumpy Road Mode" technology brought to bear. It's quite unbelievable to the point where it becomes a virtue on a par with the insane engine and incredible steering. That very fact makes a mockery of Competition Packs, Jaguar Project 8s, etc, etc.. Desperately hacking out the parts of what makes a Super Saloon what it is: a proper, fast, useable saloon car, not a fast Flintstones car. Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face springs to mind. More money for less car. No thanks. I'll hire an Ariel Atom or Caterham for the once every month or so I would want that particular experience. I'm looking forward to seeing what BMW does with their upcoming new generation M3. This segment is certainly more exciting than it has been for a while, that's for sure.
@@edwardabrahams2353 Nobody will regret ,we just see different quallities in these cars. I like alfa gulia too, but respect M3 more. You're the opposite. Some other will buy C63 or Lexus , or GtR. I said I personally prefer M3 competition pack because I find it faster on track , more beautiful, more roomier and better build inside. Engine is a masterpiece too, with a little touches it becomes a real beast over 700 hp with stock internals and returns decent fuel economy.

Bloody hell thats some negativity. So i was wrong with the terminology of one thing? So - mistakes happen. Me saying all weather could also have been more of a description what the mode is for (which is correct), than using the absolute correct terminology. Hey Steve, I hope you're okay buddy, you seem very frustrated! Robert is one of the most skllillful and talented drivers on the planet, like myself he choses to make car videos in his spare time, our main reason for doing this is to share our experiences with others who a) enjoy it and/or b) aren't fortunate enough to get their hands on such nice cars. We do occasionally get some facts and statistics wrong, this is because you're not watching a paid advertising campaign by Alfa. I suggest in the future you tune into another channel (just like you would on a tv) and watch content that does make you happy! Although reading your comment back again, it does seem you have other more pressing issues only a specialist doctor could help with. Either way good luck finding happiness. Kind Regards, Joe x

M3 any day, keep the Gulia for yourself
with pleasure my friend, we'll meet on the road and then see who's regretting ;)
@@pachokardana6192 Deutsche Qualitat, oh ja!

Not impressed! The car, YES! You, NOT so much! Before you review a car, you should know more about it rather than guessing or just making things up as you go. The "A" of the DNA/Race does NOT mean All Weather! Suggestions: Learn how to drive before you hurt yourself or others. DON'T buy an Alfa. You seem to be more of a German car Fanboy.
Bloody hell thats some negativity. So i was wrong with the terminology of one thing? So - mistakes happen. Me saying all weather could also have been more of a description what the mode is for (which is correct), than using the absolute correct terminology. Why do I need to learn how to drive/what gives you the impression I cant drive? Why NOT buy an Alfa? What's wrong with being a fan of german cars? Bring your bloody hatred somewhere else on the internet.
Kind Regards, Joe x
close factory. ugly alfa. used boxter better
@Hale Ryan no I want not that pussy car. no thanks. u many many buy. I like used audi a8 v12 6.0 or porsche than that tomato car

@@sultanoftippoo3857no... but tomato sauce in you r head
ugly asia car never not buy Sorry, you’ll need to construct a sentence that we can understand. Not many people speak fluent moron like you
Check out Car and Driver's long term review. These don't even come close to BMWs reliability.
Jeez. You're not biased much. BMW owner. I have one. It's been perfect. This was the FIRST model in 20 years to compete in the sport sedan segment, and it's better than the competition. Wait until they improve it.
@@danadm I had written something else, but have since deleted it. Realized it sounded combative. Just gets frustrating when overall in Europe they have a higher reliability rating than BMW, but everyone keeps perpetuating how much they break down. They're as good or better numbers- wise than competing brands. Check it out.
A BMW owner talking about reliability? Lol ok
My E39 is still running great at 260k miles, and my E46 at 275k miles. There's a reason why they call these engines bullet proof. I think you're mistaking maintenance cost with reliability.
Then you'd also understand why Alfa has a bad name, people mistake maintenance with reliability ;)
Excellent review
