👋🏻 hi , age really doesn’t matter you’re never too young or too old to start ! And being a guitar player all starts right there with that single thought and passion to do it … You Can Do It ! and definitely should start playing guitar , it’s really fun ! I’ve been playing for over 35 years ! ( I started at 14 yrs old with a Harmony brand Stratocaster copy that I still own and play the odd time even to this day 🙂 and I’m 51 now !) It’s always been one of if not the single greatest thing I’ve ever done for myself. Just playing guitar can be like meditation and such a great hobby and stress reliever, it has always given me something good in my life to look forward to. It’s gotten me through so many bad times I have lost count ! Playing guitar is truly a great hobby and it doesn’t cost anything or very much beyond $10 -$15 for new strings , after you have got ahold of some good starter gear. Just start out with a decent pawn shop guitar. A Fender Squire Stratocaster or a Washburn Lyon Stratocaster copy is a great 1st guitar gear usually about $100-150 in a pawnshop ( good quality and comfortable as well as good sound) , then get a small Marshall , Laney or Peavy amp and a Boss or MXR distortion pedal and a digital delay , a few patch cords as well as a cheap tuner ( lots of various metal songs you probably already like are in E flat tuning . Took me a while to figure that out and it happened one day by accident when I was tuning and went a bit too low from standard E. !😄). This is a good set up to start out with. Probably cost about $300 or so all together. Just to start out you need to see if you actually like playing first as having a ton of expensive guitar gear will not make you play any better! It might be a bit frustrating at first but it will become easier, more fun and interesting as you go. ( the best part is at any time or level of playing you reach, you can make it as easy or difficult as you like 👍🏻) Just start with simple songs that you like yourself and want to sound like style wise and keep practicing little parts of songs etc and link them into longer sections. Practice as much as you can. In time it will get easier and you will sound better. After a year or so if you do really love playing guitar ( and I think you will) then you can upgrade to a better guitar and you will appreciate it a lot more ! I own 10 electric guitars ( a few fairly expensive ones and a few total pawn shop beaters as they are fun also if built well. I also own 2 acoustics ( a Baby Taylor 3/4 size , a BC Rich black cutaway ) and a Dean Metal Man electric bass just for fun . My favourite electric guitar that I own is an Ibanez electric SZ-720FM with a flame maple top and black/ grey sunburst finish , I was lucky enough to have Joe Satriani autograph it ! 🙂 that guitar sounds amazing and plays like a dream ! An Ibanez RG electric with a bridge humbucker pickup ( or something similar) is a fantastic very well made shredder style guitar to get after you have played for a while and know it’s worth spending the money to invest into your hobby. Hope you do start playing and really love it ! All the best! Happy shredding 🤘🏻🎸😄 and remember don’t be discouraged at first ! It takes years of practice to get good at it no matter what style you want to play. Even more for the amps… So once I’m older I’m gonna see if I can pay that much money for one so I can start playing. It’s always been a dream of mine to play electric guitar!!! I’ve been playing acoustic for about 7 years
Hey man I know some guitars a lot of money like fenders are upward of thousands of dollars, but my friends started playing electric with a Squier hss strat pack, it’s about 300 bucks with the amp included
