Look I bought d4, they got my money, but I bought at release, then hated it. There wasn’t another option. Now I’ve got 400 hours in poe2 and I’m still fully engaged. Donated as much money to GGG as I spent on d4, then bought stash tabs. Diablo is in trouble now that this game exists and boy do I hope poe2 hits switch 2, then it’s gonna be game over for diablo
Yea these thumbnails, start to look like a AI generated slop. People really need to start to be creative again. You know in a "content CREATION" business. I like LD, but he is starting to fall into the category of refurbished content
@@FabzP96 pretty sure it's "his" series...... its his forum to share thoughts on each game that shows how our video game industry has fallen from grace except for these few notable mentions.
@@EyesFireable I don't see the AI in the thumbnails. And I enjoyed this video, seems good researched and written. But I can see when people get into content creation, the algorithm requires you to create consistently and that is nonsense.
Well it will continue until shareholders find out that entertainment need to be quality, over quantity, for the public to want to spend money on it. And so force the games studios they have shares in, to actually create games that people want to play, instead of making games, they can make money on.
I just started playing PoE2 and yesterday I made the first microtransaction purchase of my life. Not because I needed fancy stash tabs but because I wanted to support a company that I believe is doing all the things we could ever hope that a studio would do.
@@ZeroPhilosopher bet what? Not everyone has terrible impulse control. You do know alot of players never spend money on micro transactions. Just look at the stats on spending it aint hard bro
Every microtransaction I've made has been in a game that I feel respects my time, and puts effort into making the game great instead of trying to make it miserable unless you pay. Extortion breeds resentment. I'm not wasting my life playing a game whose devs don't care about their players or game, I don't care what monetization it uses.
Yea support devs that dont even uphold their own tos. They encourage account sharing and dont have the balls to even ban elon and his stupid boosted account
A great video as usual :) What most inpressed me over the years about GGG is a story i once read about a recovering gambling addict wanting to play PoE but seeing it had lootboxes and not wanting to be tempted by them he mailed GGG asking if they could help him somehow, they contacted him the next day saying they locked the Store for him so that he could not get tempted and could just enjoy the game. Stories like this is why i love and support them, they deserve it 100%.
I saw an article circling around where an analyst predicted video games could go up to $100 soon...then I looked around at Warframe, PoE2, BG3, Marvel Rivals etc and thought, "Nah, I'm good." Wasn't going to pay $70 for slop, and you're insane if you think I'll pay $100...or even $50 when it goes on sale, and you try to tell me, "It's a great deal!!"
Agreed, and what these companies are forgetting is that this isn't 2002. We don't have disposable income like we used to have. If i'm going to pay 60$ on a "luxury item" it has to be beyond worth the price tag. And with the current state of AAA gaming it's often times not worth the money. I spent 70$ And pre-ordered BL3. The game was super buggy, and had a 20gig "patch" a week after release. I am beyond done w/ these companies doing what imo amounts to a scam. If i pay for a product, it better be 100% ready. Most companies are going this route, push a half-released game. Get all the money then pay their staff to finish said product. Then they wonder why people would rather sink countless hours in to random steam games that cost 3-5$.
If the games at least were good.. as good as they were in XBox-360 era + the modern technology and budgets. Made by passionate enthusiasts and industry veterans. Then I would consider the high price. To buy a good game once in 2 months. Modern AAAs are so bland, I wouldn't even play them for free.
I can't stop playing PoE2. I thought I would put 50-60 hours in and then take a break. Here I am 300 hours in and I just started another character. I haven't had this much fun with a game in a long time. I suck at the trading side of the game, but am trying to get better at understanding it.
I'm the opposite. I got about 30 hours deep and then stopped. The game up until about act 2 cruel is superb - beyond that point, it basically becomes Vampire Survivors where you spam 1 or 2 attack skills, and bosses are little more than "one-shot it before it one-shots you". I honestly kinda feel like I got finessed by the previews.
Same here. Every time I get an upgrade I want to put another 50 hours in. I just bought a 18 divine bow and it makes me want to grind even harder since I can annihilate breaches now way better.
@@qu1253while I absolutely agree with what you said, 30 hours to finish act 2 cruel (or maybe even the campaign) on your first playthrough ? you've clearly rushed through the maps and prolly didn't even read/listened to the lore/story. ngl you kinda robbed yourself there, sharing the same opinion as you regarding gameplay when getting closer to endgame i still feel like what I played was absolutely worth 30 bucks, with 3 new acts and associated lore/story to come + the replayability due to all the builds/classes/ascendancies.
Fantastic video @legendarydrops ! Just so you know there was a soldom talked about 4th founder who was crucial to the creation of GGG and PoE : Brain Weissman. He met Chris and the guys via MTG forums and had already become a successsful 'professional' MTG player. He ended up funding the first years of GGG as a studio and allowed them to hire their first developers and come up with the type of game they wanted to make. Weissman apparently also contributed to the ideas around the story, setting and placement but there is little / no information about this online beyond anecdotal evidence. Eitherway he is a regularly forgotten piece of the puzzle of how GGG came to be in supporting the vision and financially supporting this ragtag group working in Chris' garage to make the game we all love today. Thought I'd comment and make sure this is known as its an important part of the history we shouldn't forget
I was part of the closed and open beta for the first PoE. Like many, I was disappointed with Diablo 3 and its auction house shenanigans so when I got a code I jumped on the chance. Never would I have imagined at the time that it would grow to overshadow Diablo. Such success just shows a herculean level of dedication by Grinding Gears and gross incompetence on the part of Activisioon/Blizzard.
For me it was the atmosphere and forced online for d3. I didn't have internet at the time, so I didn't get to have the rose glasses towards it others did. When I saw things of d3 later, it didn't look like Diablo to me. So PoE felt more in line with what I wanted
@@TheChaosOneX Always online was one thing that really annoyed me with PoE at the time since my internet was crappy DSL. That said, dealing with lag monsters on a free to play game is infinitely more forgivable than on a full price AAA release.
Personally, I don't think PoE2 is that good. The random generated maps are boring and all the same, plot is nonexistent, no difficulty adjustment means that the game gets way too easy if you have any experience at reading numbers and making a build (you don't even need to buy items from other players, it is easy enough anyway). The honor system in ascension trial is horrendous, certain stats like armor are mathematically proven useless and so on. Yet it is good on few fronts like the build variety, so it succeeds massively because the AAA competition might as well not exist.
PoE surpassed diablo because it IS diablo. It’s what diablo 3 and 4 SHOULD have become. Instead blizzard keeps doing the thing it shouldn’t do, and inject world of warcraft into everything.
Western corporatism has gotten out of hand. Gaming corps dont make games for players but for stockholders. They make games to extract money not to make a great product.
Lol I hope you don’t think is exclusively a “western issue” because it was far worse in Asia. Look at Lost Ark and WoW players in China and Korea. It’s much more socially acceptable by gamers over there, they love paying for advantages.
@@MikeyJ28 China and Korea are big offenders, but it's became a problem in the West, it's always been a problem in China and SK. Go look at all the best games that's came out in the last several years and what country made them, now look at the worse games and where they came from. The western gaming industry is so cooked.
Its called capitalism not corporatism. Literally the only way to make profit is to extract more value from somewhere. Either from the customer or the worker or both. And when that's not enough, you cut corners on quality. You do know that both GGG and DE are owned by Tencent right? And the only reason those studios get to run things the way they do is that Tencent has been smart enough to see that how they run things makes them money. The day that isn't true they will cut those studios loose without even a 2nd thought. You think Tencent actually cares about you and I, the gamers? No we are just numbers on a spread sheet. And GGG and DE are just a means to an end.
@simonm1233 There is nothing capitalist about this. The issue is that government central banks destroy the value of the currency and lack of gold standard. You wouldn't be investing your savings in to slop unless they're was inflationary credit expansion from the banks to cover the loss.
@@icancounto9994 One the gold standard has been dead for years and would never have been sustainable to the point we are today. Which its death was an inevitability of capitalism. Also who do you think influences and benefits from the central banks doing what they do? How has this got nothing to do with capitalism? Which its goal is profit which like I explained above has to come from somewhere. And a gold standard or central banks wouldn't change that base fact.

now you are talking about the only part thats not positive. i would love a hoodie, but they send from new zealand... that would add 69$ just for the packet. i think they should have a warehouse or something thats located in europe or somewhere. at the start they shipped for free but they stopped that when tencent took over. its ridiculous how chinese online stores can send you a product for 2$ including shipment (that price wouldnt even cover the cost if i wanted to send this packet to my friend locally), but if i wanna ship a packet to new zealand its that expensive for under 2kg. yes i know its an island but china to europe is also on a ship.
I'm a complete newbie to ARPGs (Turn-based CRPGs and turn-based strategy games, the more complex the better, are my bread-and-butter games) but I watched the reveal life-stream and I just couldn't miss the enthusiasm of the devs, I could _feel_ their excitement for the game and as everyone knows (or should know), that's key for making a good game. Jumped in with both feet and haven't regretted it for a second.
Awesome video mate! POE1 vet here, enjoyed a lot of POE2, invested 200h in the game and had a blast on it. Now I'm starting the Warframe path influenced by your videos, knowing that POE2 and POE1 will be there when I go back. That is another thing that is awesome, we can invest a lot on POE, enjoy the heck out of the league, then go enjoy other games knowing they will have something totally new later. Maybe it will be a banger, maybe it will have several issues, but I don't have any FOMO or bad designs needing my attention all day every day to enjoy the game.
I think Jonathan Rogers said that he didn't want path of exile to take all your time and that is something I respect of GGG as a studio for that, since lots of companies this days wants to patronize your play time and it is impossible to maintain that infinite loop eventually it will make you leave the game and I like that GGG understands this
I actually screamed Let's Goooo to absolutely no one when I rolled on gear what I wanted. In a matter of four days I went from doing about five thousand DPS to nearly twelve thousand. Not because I followed some broken build guide or abused something that's soon to be nerfed. I grabbed nodes that made sense for damage, I saw what boosts my DPS and by how much, and I built around it. My ES, Mana, and DPS is nowhere near what it could be but I'm happy. I accomplished something on my own. I finally have the DPS to kinda do breeches and it's a good feeling. Yeah, I can't screen wide one tap things but I do pretty decent in my eyes. I just have to not get greedy with damage and actually dodge things or pay attention. I really want to push my ES higher so I can grab the Chaos Inoculation node but I can't until then. Drops your HP to 1 and I by no means have the godhood to make that work with how I am now. It'll come eventually. I just have to be patient and farm.
I got my third ascendancy yesterday. I jumped up, spilled my coffee and yelled "Yes!! Motherfucker!@@ YES!!!" I can not remember being that pumped for a game since I was a kid. I'm 53 now. It's been a while :)
@ While grim feast is active when you kill enemies it will drop a stack for you to pick up that will give you energy shield overflow. If you have say 1K ES, you'll be able to get 2K with grim feast stacks.

Apparently, there's a phenomenon called "The Marketing-Led Decline." It happens when a company shifts from being product-driven to marketing-driven. At the start, founders, engineers, and visionaries make decisions, with a focus on creating innovative, high-quality products. But as the company grows, marketing starts taking over. Eventually, leadership is dominated by marketing, and decision-making prioritizes short-term sales and flashy market appeal over long-term innovation or value. The company invests in gimmicks or superficial features to chase trends, riding on the momentum of past successes. But over time, customers notice the product no longer solves their problems or stagnates in innovation. Trust erodes, competitors gain the edge, and the company becomes irrelevant. To make matters worse, instead of pivoting, these companies often double down on the same failing strategies, digging themselves into an even deeper hole. My impression is that this happens in the gaming industry *a lot*.
Started POE2 Today. Level 3 Monk. More of an Action RPG player ( Witcher, Elder Scrolls , Fromsoft etc ) but having an absolute blast so far. Gameplay, Art everything is so solid. Without watching your vids, I might not have given this game a chance. Super glad I did. GTY stuff.
@@Sorain1 Surpsingly, if you spend some of your currency moderately on your weapons while in the campaign, it makes it much easier. Also, boost your primary strike skill (e.g. ice strike) quality every chance you get. It will boost your damage. I didn't do it before maps, and went from 2k to 15k damage maxing skill gem quality.
No, no it would not. The reason Warframe is better than most looter shooters is because when Anthem was trying to come out, Warframe already had 6 years of content behind it 😂 The only looter shooters that have kinda survived have been sequels to previous games (Destiny, Division specifically come to mind). It's not that Warframe is particularly outstanding, it's that it's gone through significantly more growing pains so you're coming in at a more refined experience for the vast majority of players than when it first popped up. Perspective makes all the difference. PoE, similarly, has gone through those growing pains. Taking something without understanding the appeal of it has led to a number of content islands on Warframe, some of which are like Atlantis, where they sank into the ocean never to be seen or heard from again. See: 8-player weekly raids when Reb & Megan [and probably more] were knee-deep in the shores of FF14 group raiding. I just want to push the point across the finish line that without going through those growing pains, it's harder for competitors to enter into the same genre.
I'd rather not, i can't stand the absolute miniscule chance of currency drops in poe and fighting a market full of bots. I like both games, just keep them separate.
18:24 -- this goes for allllllllllllllll creative mediums. Music, visual art, game dev, everything. Once you start considering what others would like when making your thing, something massively important gets lost.
GGG does great job listening their community. Jonathan has stated many times "Players are very good identifying problems with the game, but they bad at solving the issue". It shows that they really care about the game, but even more so they care about the community.
I keep wanting to make new characters in POE2 just so I can go through the mansion and fight Count Geonor again. I don't think I've ever played another game where the final boss of the Act WAS RECITING A POEM THAT JUST SO HAPPENED TO COINCIDE PERFECTLY WITH THE MUSIC OF THE FIGHT. sorry for shouting. It's freaking perfect.
I was 15 minutes into this video when I realized how early I actually was. Anyway, thanks always for your level-headed, and also hype-man content. You strike a great balance between being reasonable but also still being passionate.
Usually i working weeks on scripts like dat, finding the best words to describe complex phenomenons like PoE 2, but i cant find words better then yours to describe my attitude to GGG and PoE from the very begging of my journey over 11K hours ago. I happy the most catchy and varied media culture like video gaming have developers like them. Exactly them. Appreciate forever. And yes, the music is outstanding. Great vid dude ❤️
In a world where I paid $70 for a full Blizzard game in 2023, and that same company, out of greed, decided that my game would be incomplete in 2024 if I didn't pay $40 more, the existence of a developer like GGG is a blessing.
man described why my favorite Multiplayer games rn are PoE2 and Gw2. do what you want, play with what systems you enjoy or dont. Really felt it when you said you were a merchant in poe2; thats my whole path in gw2 is crafting legendaries and selling them for mega gold, then buying whatever cosmetics I want. peak feeling peak feeling
had tears on some parts because just hearing the facts that i knew of. some actively, some maybe only subconcious. i once again realized on how much good shit were going to get in, like you said, these times were its only understandable falling into depression. not only on the gaming side of things.
The biggest change is investors, games have become just another investment to produce "maximum shareholder value", i.e. monetize in every way possible.
"Long-term success" this is why GGG succeeds. The industry today is full of cash grab companies, and CEOs looking to spike their company's values, squeeze out every dime from their customers, and jump ship to the next company, disregarding the long term. It was insane to me as to why companies would behave this way until I realized the people owning shares and the people at the top are not looking for sustained success. They are looking for a fast cash grab at the expense of the customers and developers making the product. Those developers are fired, their studios shut down, the customers handed a shit product all while the shareholders and CEO cut and run to repeat the process often by buying a successful new studio and killing it in turn.
Every time i see the game name i quietly curse babik nurn or whatever that guy's name was. The bug of him going invisible and bricking a run would happen every single time on higher difficulties...
8:17 Small correction, they didn't include act 3. That version of the game already had act 3, but it ended at Piety. What they added was the second half of act 3, which was missing. That part was called act 3.x or something like that. It included the new boss Dominus and a new mob type which had the proximity bubble mechanic, which was used for a while on spectre summoner builds.
I'm just so happy to not have ended it years ago. We got just got Baldurs Gate 3, Elden Ring SotE, Path of Exile 2 (technically not even out yet), Dynasty Warriors Origins, and those are only the recent AAA releases that came to mind first, there are so many more amazing indies! This is the level of quality we deserve and should expect, no "modern audiences" bs, no putting the revenue/investors before the customers. In an industry filled will slop, every breath of fresh air feels extra fresh.
One thing to notice - GGG also has smaller team, unlike Blizzard making 2 mediocre seasons at once with oversized groups of developers. It means lower costs, so they don't need squeeze players for biggest possible profits NOW.
The industry won’t change because people won’t stop buying. Even with people’s outrage and complaints, they are still giving them money. We need more Concord moments
This is a great video, and the sentiment of "making something for yourself first and formost that you dig" is the most important thing, also especialy in music, i know that...peace from germany dude
Some people be like: -play poe1 -have the best time in their life -learn what stuff is strong -get bored, make faster and faster builds that require less and less interaction -start to complain how this is a bad part of the game actually -poe2 comes out -praise the slower gamestyle -complain soon after about how slow it is -use only the skills and classes that are strong and fast -complain that the game is too much like poe1
Endgame maps legitimately feel like a rug pull. The acts leading up to it are superb, then you get to maps and it literally just turns into PoE1 with better graphics. Sadly, I don't expect that to change considering everyone and their brother was complaining about the slower pace throughout all of the previews.
What vhyles said. Blizzard North ceized to exist between D2 and D3 while developing an early version of D3. Key developers left the company. Blizzard Entertainment - the owner of Blizzard North - then scrapped this version and developed their own. The rest is history.
I have moments with destiny 2 where I'm like, "That's badass" or "holy shit that's cool" and it scares me since bungie haven't exactly been making good decisions as of late I'm just hoping the next season brings back players and has more content then this season
Your monk build looks bonkers. Definitely wanna replicate it with mine. Love the coverage you're providing on this game and the games industry as a whole. I really wanna play Baldur's Gate 3 as well. God I wish I didn't have to have a full time job...
Hah you name dropped Champions of Norrath! I tested that at Sony! Man, that game was such a blast to test! I was never a big Diablo fan, but that one really turned me onto the ARPG genre.
You know what's a real wakeup call? POE, WF and BG3 are all very woke games made by very woke studios with elements that LD rails against in other games. You can have pronouns in BG3, WF has a non binary warframe and is lead by a woman. POE has multiple gay characters including one of the playable ones. And if you bother to listen to the lines of the 3 female leads they are all very very feminist. That's the real wakeup call. That it's not the inclusion of those elements that ruin games or having a message of inclusion, despite what LD would have you believe. Those games all have elements the SBI is promoting in games. Even more in your face then some of the games SBI has been involved in and LD hates so much. Yet they are successful. Maybe, just maybe it's not the woke elements or agenda. Maybe it's just shitty corporations looking for profit. And grifters like LD sewing discord in the gaming community for profit cause rage bait makes money. Lots of it. And that's all he sells on this channel...
poe 2 is so much more newbie friendly imo, i also didnt play much poe 1 because of its overwhelming and unintuitive mechanics, but ive been having a blast with poe 2 so far. really fun game and all the mechanics so far make a lot of sense (i dont really play arpg games either, so apart from some diable 3 on the ps3 back then, and 2 hours of poe 1, poe 2 is all ive got), and im in mid-act 3, 40 hours in playing merc. im also doing it completely blind with no guides or anything. if you're worried about the skill tree, don't be, you really only have to worry about the half you start in, and even then a basic thing you can aim for is just look at the notables (bigger nodes), and see what looks cool and aim for that. alternatively, you can see what kind of stat youre build needs (like fire damage, crit damage, evasion, fire rate, etc), and search up that keyword in the tree and it'll highlight all nodes with that word.
and now that you can respec with gold whenever you want after like, the first half/third of act 1, you don't need to be too worried in making mistakes. also the new wasd movement is suuuper nice to have for all classes.
Thank you. I feel alone in these comments so often. That or he deletes my comments when I call him out... He goes on and on talking about DEI and woke agendas and us vs them. Yet those 3 studios are as woke as you can get. WF with multiple gay characters and a whole DLC story revolving around a gay love story. Or having a non binary warframe. Not to mention a female creative director. Or PoE 1 and 2 both having gay characters and the ranger being a lesbian in cannon. Or the very "girl boss" dialog of all the female playable characters. Then BG3 having pronouns and the ability to be trans, all things he has attacked other games for having. I swear the only reason he doesn't go after them is 1 they are successful and have communities who would rip him apart if he did and 2 he wants something from them. They all have pretty sweet deals for creators. He is a hypocrite and a grifter.
@@simonm1233 A lot of DEI stuff is dumb on both ends, people critiquing it and also when it feels forced and shoved in your face. Having someone in a story being gay, non binary or "woke" doesn't make something DEI or "bad". What a lot of people are actually complaining about when they scream DEI is that it feels forced and doesn't add anything to the story. The reason someone like the ranger in poe 1 and 2 being lesbian doesn't matter is because its not "omg yes guuurl" shoved in your face, shes just lesbian and thats it. Its a trait, one of many, its not their entire personality, so it doesn't feel forced. The kind of DEI people complain about is the equivalent to the real life example of opening twitter and seeing someone list their disabilities, pronouns and sexuality in their bio, and it being their entire personality with every sentence starting with "As a disabled person, as a woman, as a man, as a x".

Did you read the interview with him? That he based his list on assumptions the games would suck cause of minorities or other groups being in the games. Never having played the games. And sure those people on Twitter you speak of can be annoying but they are the vast minority and are they hurting anyone having their pronouns in their bios? I had said more after this but once again he is deleting my comments that call him out and are too spot on. I just happened to have copied what I had written up to here to post again. TLDR, LD is feeding on and helping fuel the culture war debate, using dogwhistles that spread very hurtful and destructive ideas. Is very intellectually dishonest and fosters a very toxic community. And to say something is forced is to either not understand the history of progressive changes in media or as is often the case code for, I don't like seeing queer people or black people or women in my media. A very simple proof of this is reading the interview with the guy who created the SBI list on Steam. He admits to not playing most of the games he listed. It was all based on key art and trailers. And what did that key art and trailers show? Female characters who were not "traditionally" attractive and POCs. You can see the same thing with the trailer to that new sci-fi game with the woman with the shaved head. Just from those 45sec it's deemed bad and woke. Or as LD put it, she is an annoying character. But that very well might be part of her story arc. There are many characters who start out that way, that people now love. But what he was really saying is I don't find her attractive enough. And shaved heads are signs of woke characters. Aka only queer characters or femenists have shaved heads. Tho I really doubt if she came up to most of her haters and said let's smash they would turn her down. If you are not one of the people using DEI and woke as code I would love to continue this conversation assuming LD doesn't delete it again. Cause he doesn't like ideas or conversations here that poke holes in the narrative he is trying to sell.
@@justespelund as to the Twitter people, yes some of them can be annoying but they are a very small minority. And also consider it wasn't that long ago that gay people couldn't get married. Unless you are one of those groups that you listed it's hard to understand that a lot of those things being part of their personality is forced on them. The world reminds you daily you are part of that group and that it's a big part of who you are. Not by choice. Most of the genre of rap and hip hop is the musical equivalent of having POC in your bio. But many people love it. Name a game that has the level of forced diversity you describe? And how it hurt the game? How does Aloy having more "masculine" features ruin the horizon games?
definitely an entertaining watch, it was cool to get to know more about PoE1 and the devs background. although I do not enjoy the progression towards "press 2 buttons to obliterate the whole screen" I understand it might feel good to acquire it after the early struggles (esp when you rolled a melee char as your first char). I wish someday a mode/league will be released where the game just stays challenging like it was in the beginning. one can always dream lol. anyways, the campaign was a blast to play through, with more to come and big replayability due to all the possible builds/classes/ascendancies.
This is the first ARPG I can home brew a build and feel good about it. Looking to the build guides for metas and all that has always turned me away. This game allows me to make my own character and enjoy it.
The sweetest bonus from this game.. the option to play 2 players on the sane account, same computer. Me and GF playing on TV with our controllers, siting on the couch. Nostalgia gallery. Plus, if it's as long lifed as poe 1, I'll play with my son someday
There are a lot of players playing because it is the new thing and it is constantly being updated due to problems. But to be completely honest, it isn't much different than PoE 1. Maybe casual players will have an endless source of grind, but for blasters of ARPGs like me, the game is just a PoE 1.5. It is not a bad thing, but it is not what GGG promised. The only part of the game which is different is the campaign, but from Act 2 Cruel and on, the game is just a 1 button clear the screen game and 1-shot bosses so they don't 1-shot you. Which, again, is not different from the rest of the ARPGs we've got. We derserved better.
YES. I always say that we're playing poe 1.5, the mobs are still in poe 1 and mace Titans are the only ones playing poe 2, unless it's herald of ice, then it's screenwide explosion again.
"We deserved better" than the first version of the endgame? That had very little testing? In early access? When the game isn't complete? We haven't even hit a single league. Just give them time to cook.
@@kurodatadayoshi9012 Beta and EA are 2 different things. People are very confused about this. What you are playing is the actual game lacking content to be added. The problems it has are problems that will be present at ''launch''. You don't have to agree with me now, you just have to wait a couple of months and see it yourself. The game is good, very good. But this is not what they promised, neither the best ARPG ever made, as they claimed.
@@jranjos2 Exactly. If the game is about exploding screen after screen, picking 1 ''decent'' drop every 500 items dropped and killing bosses before their life bar can be even read, I've got better options.
Look GGG is doing ok, but the endgame is literally defined in repetition. Clear maps, clear harder maps, clear harder harder maps. There is no variety. Yes, there is clearly a crowd that loves this, but the progression in this game feels like you are on a treadmill. The gear all looks exactly the same at level 10 and level 74. exactly the same. My level 74 Monk looks like a bum. $40 for a cosmetic is psychotic no matter how you wanna spin its a free game and you are supporting the developer. In the end, it probably just isn't the game for me, but it is what it is.
a bit weird to have this viewpoint two months into an early access. im sure u are aware what a beast poe1 is content wise, and they are not gonna hold back in poe2
I used to kill hell Pindle in 30 seconds including log out and loading time. Thats two kills per minute or 120 kills per hour. Or 960 kills per gaming session You clearly don’t know anything about content being repetitive xD
@ Actually, I don't. Fairly new to the genre. I know POE1 was a big hit, but from my understanding, its the same content. What are you considering "content" would be a good place to start. I dont consider making the same maps more difficult new content.
@ Like I said in my comment. There is clearly a player base that like repetition like that. I know plenty about repetition from other genres. This takes it to stupidity levels.
Why is it weird? The video stated larian and ggg are the same - but they are not. baldurs gate was interesting and innovative poe2 is just a rng dice roll for loot - to essentially keep you playing - they said it in their last livestream, that basically goes *against what sven stands for*
Lol poe1 has exp loss on death even at the start . You must have consequences to ur deaths to be better otherwise death is just meaningless with no value. Also u getting oneshot too many times is a You problem

PoE2 cost me like 15 USD, and after 100+ hrs, I bought some inventory slots, because I am having a great time. So a total of 35 USD, around 30 cents pr hour of fun. Their model is great from my perspective as a player, and I truly hope they succeed with their investment - and can stay in business. Keep up the good work, GGG!
Of course they do, making games isn't free. Take the next part with a grain of salt since your personal tastes and opinions may differ. The difference is, what they give us is worth the money we pay. Or at least better than the alternatives.
Another thing I like is that GGG is working on cleaning the game up and listening to the customer's instead of putting out Microtransaction every week. Awesome video!!
I feel like 10 other content creators have made this same video with a variation of this same title. Just play something else if you ran out of content.
So we deserve a technically half-baked game that is said to have blocked the entire system of some players and even damaged hardware components? So we deserve a development studio that has such a bad handle on its IT security that attackers were able to ‘just like that’ empty the accounts of several players and sell off the loot irretrievably? Without it even being possible to trace what was stolen and by whom?
66 accounts of several million, and they delayed the game six months to ensure that the account migration process goes smoothly so if they didn't do that it could have been infinitely worse.
I haven't jumped in yet, I'm letting it cook a bit first, maybe a couple leagues or something, but I'm super excited for the day I download PoE II. But I will say this: It's been absolutely fascinating watching everything from the announcement to the betas to the early access. I've put in some good time in PoE I over the last 3 years, but it's been a really great experience watching GGG work and seeing how they move within the market and the player base. So while I haven't had the joy of figuring out the new dodge roll or skill gems, and I'm almost biting my nails with how anxious I am to get in, I've loved every second of coverage, interviews and dev videos. I'm 47 and have been playing games since I was old enough to hold an Atari joystick and this has been the most exciting "industry" moment for me since the release of Super Mario Bros 3/SNES launch and it's all because of the absolute dumpster fire state of the wider games industry and the giant shit it's taken over the course of the last 10 years. I love to see it, and that was a great video. Cheers dude.
the assertion that the monetization in poe2 is "ethical" is extremely subjective. It preys on players desire for drip... for some of us, that's not an "addon" to a game, it's a core aspect of the game... the philosophy of the game is that ethics are related to gameplay systems only. And that is their philosophy and many players share it... but there are a good number of us that don't feel that way. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the game (a lot). It's a good game! but 65$ for a single back visual is far from laudable ethics in my opinion. It's better than "pay for stats"... but only just. Give the game accolades for it's combat, skill customization systems, high caliber visuals, music, story... any number of things. But ethical monetization isn't really one of them.
The cash shop is overpriced but for sixty dollars you can buy a supporter pack that grants you $60 in store currency that you can use on that fancy cloak, then also digital soundtrack, two pets, a portal, a hideout statue, a full armor set reflecting the Act 1 boss, a zweihander weapon skin, and some other knicknacks.

I like both games, just keep them separate.
fuck thati dont want pay to skip bullshit like warframe and mobile game timers to craft items , warframe players make excuses to getting fucked over
18:24 -- this goes for allllllllllllllll creative mediums.
You strike a great balance between being reasonable but also still being passionate.
from the moment i started watching Nagatoro has been staring into my soul..it unnerves me
Just wanted to say you had some phenomenal points here. Thank you for making this video! Keep up the great work
You love to see it, so glad you are enjoying PoE2 so much, man!
Quick, you Muppet, you better go to every POV to video and comment so that people can see and hopefully watch your videos
Dungeon Siege (1) and Titan Quest had great atmosphere though. Still remember their worlds fondly.
This was very well written/narrated. Well done, your articulation of key points in design pillars was spot on.
When you're customizing your own loot filter, u know u have a problem.
I like to customise everything but never thought it was a problem. Thank you for my new disorder.
Well, unless you enjoy doing so. Then it's not work, now is it?
i spent 2 hours the other day customizing one 🤣
Or specific taste
Thanks for reminding me. I still need to add custom sounds to some drops. :)
man described why my favorite Multiplayer games rn are PoE2 and Gw2. do what you want, play with what systems you enjoy or dont. Really felt it when you said you were a merchant in poe2; thats my whole path in gw2 is crafting legendaries and selling them for mega gold, then buying whatever cosmetics I want. peak feeling peak feeling
Dude, take a breath between ‘Act 3 spoiler warning’ and the spoiler, I ran across my kitchen shouting ‘no, no, no, pause! Pause!’ lol
We are at a point where we as a viewer as forced to say "This is wakeup call for this youtuber to come up with some other word for a video title".
gazillions must have a wake up call
had tears on some parts because just hearing the facts that i knew of. some actively, some maybe only subconcious. i once again realized on how much good shit were going to get in, like you said, these times were its only understandable falling into depression. not only on the gaming side of things.
Those developers are fired, their studios shut down, the customers handed a shit product all while the shareholders and CEO cut and run to repeat the process often by buying a successful new studio and killing it in turn.
i like how every video of you i watch you're wearing merch of bands i like
Mr. Wake up call with another wake up call video
Champions of Norrath was Classic And BB was damn good back in the day. Massive nostalgia hit 😂
It included the new boss Dominus and a new mob type which had the proximity bubble mechanic, which was used for a while on spectre summoner builds.
this title is a wake up call for "wake up call" videos.
What a great love letter to this game!
This is a great video, and the sentiment of "making something for yourself first and formost that you dig" is the most important thing, also especialy in music, i know that...peace from germany dude
Game turned into vampire survivors in the endgame almost like poe1. Hope they do it right when it fully released with 12 classes.
That's what people like
Some people be like:
-play poe1
-have the best time in their life
-learn what stuff is strong
-get bored, make faster and faster builds that require less and less interaction
-start to complain how this is a bad part of the game actually
-poe2 comes out
-praise the slower gamestyle
-complain soon after about how slow it is
-use only the skills and classes that are strong and fast
-complain that the game is too much like poe1
Play it in hardcore solo-self found = turn the game into a roguelite
Endgame isn't a problem if you can't get there :P
What did you expect? These games are for people who can't play MP games.
Endgame maps legitimately feel like a rug pull. The acts leading up to it are superb, then you get to maps and it literally just turns into PoE1 with better graphics. Sadly, I don't expect that to change considering everyone and their brother was complaining about the slower pace throughout all of the previews.
LD well said. This is why I follow you man. Keep it up and keep showing us the gamers, that we are worth listening to.
Diablo can't even make a true Diablo 2 successor, so they already got a head start, and with all the care and work that put them miles ahead.
Blizzard North don't exist anymore, so there will never be a D2 successor.
Wake up babe, new "wake up call" vid just dropped.
Your monk build looks bonkers. Definitely wanna replicate it with mine. Love the coverage you're providing on this game and the games industry as a whole. I really wanna play Baldur's Gate 3 as well. God I wish I didn't have to have a full time job...
Why is every new game a wake up call 😂
Hah you name dropped Champions of Norrath! I tested that at Sony! Man, that game was such a blast to test! I was never a big Diablo fan, but that one really turned me onto the ARPG genre.
Is this going to be like all the games that changed Asmons life that every good game is now a wake up call?
Wake up call is the new slop in town
Meanwhile D4 and D:I are swimming in millions of copies sold.
@@TheSeth256 You don't sell a free game.
Great video man! It truly is in a league of its own 🍻
I woke up and played POE 2
Darth is a good friend to have :) Super happy for his recent success in the YT space.
I played the first one but I got overwhelmed by the character progression. I may eventually play PoE2.
poe 2 is so much more newbie friendly imo, i also didnt play much poe 1 because of its overwhelming and unintuitive mechanics, but ive been having a blast with poe 2 so far. really fun game and all the mechanics so far make a lot of sense (i dont really play arpg games either, so apart from some diable 3 on the ps3 back then, and 2 hours of poe 1, poe 2 is all ive got), and im in mid-act 3, 40 hours in playing merc. im also doing it completely blind with no guides or anything.
if you're worried about the skill tree, don't be, you really only have to worry about the half you start in, and even then a basic thing you can aim for is just look at the notables (bigger nodes), and see what looks cool and aim for that. alternatively, you can see what kind of stat youre build needs (like fire damage, crit damage, evasion, fire rate, etc), and search up that keyword in the tree and it'll highlight all nodes with that word.
and now that you can respec with gold whenever you want after like, the first half/third of act 1, you don't need to be too worried in making mistakes.
also the new wasd movement is suuuper nice to have for all classes.
@@Jonahv10is the respec for gold in poe 1 or 2?
@@justmeok2 POE2 lets you respec with gold. POE1 only lets you respec with quest reward items iirc.

this guy and wake up calls, and every other rage bait under the sun

@@justespelund who decides what's forced? Seems more often than not its the people who are not the ones who the representation is about. And yea if feels out of place and forced by those who aren't a part of those groups because media has spent quite a long time making sure those people aren't represented and made sure to normalize everything else to such extent that and any divergence is seen as out of place. Was the multi racial kiss in the original Star Trek forced? If you asked people back then, yes very much so. Did Star Trek have an "agenda" or the X Men? Oh very much yes. By your logic those stories were forced and were putting in in your face. But we moved forward and now those stories are seen as the GOAT. Hell even Star Wars had a very heavy handed message. But it's convenient to ignore all that to not have to face the cognitive discidence.
Im not saying there aren't times when it's forced and those groups are just as upset but maybe look to them for guidance as to what good representation is. Last I checked it's those people with that lived experience that are the one who can really judge that. And trust me, when it's bad you'll hear about it.
But there is the issue of those like LD who just aim to profit off the division they sew. Using terms like DEI and woke agenda and us vs them is the exact dogwhistles used by those who seek to put and and put back into hiding so many different groups. Its one thing to criticize bad media. But that's not what LD does. He fosters a community who days disgusting things like the new AC was delayed to February cause of black history month. Or tried to silence an actual Japanese women because of who she worked for. Not to mention him and many like him misrepresented the situation in Japan over Yasuke in AC. And made it seem like his inclusion was the reason that game will suck when it's AC, it's been in decline for years.
Also a non binary warframe is pretty forced but it made a lot of people happy and hurt no one.
As to POE, I don't know how much you listen to the new dialogs of the female characters, particularly the witch and ranger but while her being gay isn't in your face, they both are very girl boss and feminist and not subtle about it. Also LD many like him have gone on rants about pronouns in games yet he is remarkably silent on BG3? Yet no one thinks to question why? If it where any other game he would be up in arms over all the gender options and if it hadn't been a success I'm sure he would blame that as one of the reasons. Do you think it's at all healthy or productive to have the joy he has over the failures of Ubisoft? He acts like the stole something from him or killed his dog. No one including me will argue they suck as a company. But it's not the fault of them adding Yasuke. Which in Japan people either don't care or are excited.
Too many people use the excuse that things are "forced" to not openly say what they want to say. Hate a character from a trailer but claim it's cause she is annoying and not because they don't like that she has a shaved head and isn't f*chable. When that's part of her character she a rough and tumble bounty hunter ffs. And maybe her being annoying is part of her story arch. There are plenty of characters male and female with that arch who are now loved but no a 45sec trailer tells you enough. Or did you ever actually look into the guy who created the SBI list on Steam? Did you read the interview with him? That he based his list on assumptions the games would suck cause of minorities or other groups being in the games. Never having played the games.
And sure those people on Twitter you speak of can be annoying but they are the vast minority and are they hurting anyone having their pronouns in their bios? After God knows how long in the shadows, it feels pretty nice say it proud.
But if you are one of those people who would see them back in the shadows or worse then we probly don't have a conversation here 😢

A truly honest critique of all this wouldn't use dogwhistles like DEI and woke. Those terms are more often than not used by people as coded language to get away with saying pretty horrible things.
Excellent video, I agree with you on everything you said. I'm loving POE2, I have about 300hrs in
The game is an absolute masterpiece and it's still in early access. It will only get better and better!
Still waiting for the "Alarm Clock is a wake up call" video. :)
I played PoE 2 up until maps, got one-shotted by an off-screen mob, lost the map, and never went back. The game is fine - it’s not revolutionary
D4 is better
definitely an entertaining watch, it was cool to get to know more about PoE1 and the devs background.
although I do not enjoy the progression towards "press 2 buttons to obliterate the whole screen" I understand it might feel good to acquire it after the early struggles (esp when you rolled a melee char as your first char).
Idk man, something tells me that it's still in beta/early access. Hmmm
@@kurodatadayoshi9012 Beta and EA are 2 different things. People are very confused about this. What you are playing is the actual game lacking content to be added.

Or 960 kills per gaming session
You clearly don’t know anything about content being repetitive xD

(also access to the game if you don't already have it)
I’m over it already tbh
my boy j rogers rocking that pony tail is just perfect
At this point I'm thinking "wake up call" is a series.
