Well I just blew the screen trying to blow the dust away 😂🤣
🤣
😆
I do this all the time xD
Thank you. I wanted to try the pan pastel for the first time for a pet portrait. I have used just pencils: pitt, cabathello, but thought the pan might be nice for an under layer, but was not sure how they should be applied. Thank you. This was very helpful.
Excellent information! Thank you for showing the difference between the pastel pencils! Now I see what I’ve been doing wrong!
Thank you Jason!! Love your Patreon and all of your video's!! Your work is out of this world,,and way over my head,,but when you teach in your video's, you speak and demonstrate in a way that I can understand and want to keep trying!
thank you for the lovely comment :)
Thanks for the tip! I just purchased my first two sets of pan pastels, this was useful.
Excellent video jason, just where I was going wrong thank you 👍
Thanks, Jason! This is very helpful!
Thanks Jason. You always have the best tips & tricks. I find it very interesting that you could put so much of the Rembrandt stick down and get pastel pencil over top where as with a thicker layer of the pans, you couldn't.🤔 You, Sir, are a magician! Thanks again 😉
Hello Jody hope you’re okay ?
Great video - your explanation and demo is great! Thank you!
Hello pat Gangl hope you’re okay ?
Thank you Jason. Your videos are very helpful.
Very helpful thank you just starting out with my pan pastels great advice just what I needed
Hello Catherine hope you’re okay ?
thumbs up great video as always.
Thank you so much for this tip! I just started using Pan Pastels and this is valuable information!
Hello Alysia hope you’re okay ?
Thank you so much, great info!
This is so helpful. I started teaching myself and I've been making this mistake!
Hello friend hope you’re okay ?
Thanks, Jason!
Thanks Jason. I just got the pan pastels your wildlife and a general exploration set. I like the pans better than the sticks but have some of those too and a set of 24 carbothello. I like the blending of the pans. Plus they last a long time and can get a lot of practice in without worrying they are to precious. 😊
Hello Annette hope you’re okay ?
This has been very helpful. I've definitely been using too much pastels. Thank you so much for this video!
I know little about pastels & this wasvso helpful, thank you!
Great tip. There is only so much room to add the layers using the pastlemat or other papers. Thanks for sharing this video ♥️😊
Very true. I was just surprised how panpastel reacted differently to soft pastel
Hello Kathleen hope you’re okay ?
Thanks for these videos!
Hello Zarah hope you’re okay ✅
Fabulous tips here!! Thank you. Kind regards Dianne.
Hello Dianne hope you’re okay ?
Man I tell ya, I use panpastels for ALL under layers. When I use my Sennelier soft pastels I ALWAYS end up putting to much. My Sennelier are reserved for my more abstract art or when I’m using Uart 800. It’s sad.. I heard so many good things about Sennelier so I bought a 48 full stick set.... and I don’t like them... they are to soft for me. It fills tooth up to fast. My Rembrandt doesn’t do that. I guess that’s personal preferences. I’m hoping to find a use for my Sennelier in my work.. I have a near perfect unused 48 piece landscape set ready to sell lol..
They work best on a sanded paper with a heavier texture.
Birdsong by heavier texture you mean like a 240 grit? I felt that worked great on my 800. Sennelier that is.
@hiya I did do this on a few pieces that had crumbled. It worked wonderfully. Thank you for the suggestion!
Thanks for the video, I learned this the hard way. I now use makeup brushes instead of the Sofft tools. The brushes do a better job of control to the location I am applying the PanPastel.
Rick Ricci . What brand of make up brushes ? I tried my own and the pastels did not stick to the paper . I don't like the sponges so much . Thank you
@@helenarichard Actual makeup brushes. I use ECOTools www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075S543DR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Now I know why my pencils wouldn't show up on top of the Sennelier soft pastel! Thank you.
I cannot thank you enough! 👍
buen video! gracias por los consejos amigo!
Great comparison Jason...this is so helpful!
Hello Tracy hope you’re okay ?
THANKSvery much. Very useful.
Its very complicate to draw over the top, if you use several product in the paper with panpastel or soft pastels too. It happened to me, and it's awful! You can try many things, and the pencils don't draw easily, thank you so much for always share your videos!❤
Looking forward to viewing your videos
Very useful
Very helpful
Hello Karen hope you’re okay ?
Really awesome video! I'm naturally a little stingy with my colors lol but I haven't been blending or rubbing with anything harder than a makeup brush and I think just trying that is going to help me. I can't wait to get on Patreon when I get a little free cash!
Glad it helped. Patreon level 1 is 4 dollars a month. So just 1 dollar week 😉👍
Hello Croatia hope you’re okay ✅
Very nice video, thanks :)
Hello Jekaterina hope you’re okay ✅
Very good...thankyou
Hello Linda hope you’re okay ?
👏👏👏
شكراً جزيلاً ، فنان عظيم 🫶🏻💕✨
Thanks so much for your tips. I just bought my first set of Panpastels and used them today as undercoat. I used pastelmat paper and soft tools, but the pastel layer was very patchy. Any suggestions? Maybe I didn’t use enough?
Can you use oil pastels on top of Pan Pastels? I have heard bits and pieces but no one has demonstrated it.
Great tips! What type of pastel stick hardness or brand works best to add textured marks over PanPastels? I have PanPastels and wanted to get some stick pastels to make broader textured finishing marks on top of PanPastel underlayers. I wasn't sure what hardness of pastel stick (extra soft, soft, medium or hard) would work best.
This is very helpful. I recently bought a set of 7 with basic colors...the primaries plus brown. There are tons of other colors that you could spend hundreds. I don't know what is an to focus on yet so I've been holding off. Is is realistic to draw anything with this basic set I bought ?
Thanks so much Jason, this has cleared things up a lot for me. Can you advise what brand of electric sharpener you use? Take care, Julie.
Hello Julie hope you’re okay ?
תודה רבה על העצה 😄
Hello! Thank you for showing how to mix by using white printer paper as a little side pallet… Quick question, what type of fixative would you recommend, I struggle so much with this because I don’t like how it melts the lighter colors although I don’t mind how it brings out the darker ones it just really ruins my blending…
well, that explains why this keeps happening - thank you!
Hello Mindy hope you’re okay ?
how about if one uses soft pastels using the applicator/soft knife ? could one replicate pan pastel effect using this method ?
They are too darn precious/ dainty
Thank you . Very informative. Which Carb Othello are you using? I bought the chalk pastels pencils and they are too chalky !
I forgot the word " coloring " in the name brand and found out later by looking at the description on the box .
Hello Felicia hope you’re okay ?
Can you erase some of the panpastel away with an eraser if you put down too much?
How does pan pastel dry or does it remain like a smear consistency
This is surprising.
I could only find Gioconda pastels, should I buy them?
Hi! Can you please tell me the color of the stabilo pencil you used? Is it emerald green light? Thank you
Hello Kitty hope you’re okay ✅
Ha, this is the problem I've been having with my current painting. It's on terracotta primed paper, when I really should have chosen black, because of all the night sky and shadows. So I really went hard with the pastel black as an under layer and now it's difficult to add further detailed layers.
Can you use normal colour pencil?
You are driving me nuts watching you blowing the dust. Naughty boy.
Hi! I noticed that you keep blowing the pastel away. Because most the professionals on RUclips tutorials and most of them keep mentioned that most pastels were very toxic if you breathe them????? I keep seeing you on this tutorial that you keep blowing the pastel into the air?? I'm soo confused.
Thanks!
The last e in Schminke is pronounced like the first e in elephant, if you want to be accurate. I feel we should try our best not to butcher names.
