There are loads of videos of (predominatley young, overseas) tourists chasing each other around the main tourist sites of NZ. A guide to locations less visited is a great idea and I look forward to more. Great stuff!
So cool. This is my childhood. Where I grew up in and around this area. Been a while since was last down that way and is great to see it again:) the one thing with the weather. Sure it can be cold and wet and very windy (That is why the trees are shaped like they are, battered by the winds, you can see the same thing on the West Coast of South Island as well). But, you see the weather coming, it arrives gets it over and done with and leaves and does not linger. Some beautiful sunsets can be seen from all along the coast and there is nothing between you and the sunset except for the sea.
This an area I knew in my childhood and now in my seventies I frequently visit it on my motorbike. It is one of my favourite rides especially from Orepuki to Manapouri. Look out for the crazily named crib (bach to you North Islanders) Pollyfilla Palace at Cozy Nook. Just a magic magic area.
Thank you. Hubby and l are planning on visiting areas of NZ we have never visited before. The lower South Island is an area neither of us have been before. We live in the Far North, the opposite end of the country. So thank you for this lovely video, I’m now very encouraged on doing this trip south.
Awesome videos of a speciasl and beaytiful country. You New Zealanders are a lucky crowd living in such a peaceful, beautiful country. You are the envy of the world.
Just moved back to Aus after 6 years in NZ. Can't beat the beautiful scenery in NZ, but this video reminds me why I moved back here- the weather here in Aus is unbeatable! Must have had 3 days of rain in 3 months. I love the warmer climate so much more.
Great Video, I have been to the area a couple of times, with my aunt who was the Steward island district nurse, we walked to harris saddle and down the holyford! as well as the road trips associated, thanks for sharing
I enjoyed that Dude ....i appreciate your creativity and effort in making that ..brought back lots of good memories in being there in my student travels...cheers from Hamilton...keep it up...much appreciated!!!
Nice guide. Thanks for your effort. A couple of friends and I rode that area as part of a motorcycle tour around the south Island last summer. Next time, like you I'll take the motorhome with surf boards and spend more time at each beach. They are some of the most beautiful beaches in the country
Lived in Tuatapere with my daughter & her dad who still lives there. An idealic life for us, until my mum & dad wanted us back home. They missed us, as we them. 🙏❤
Notice you have the hexagonal Sun Simulator in NZ. Dunedin, of course, is an old Tartarian town with atchitectural and utility(cable csrs) relics from the olde civilization in NZ, way before Polynesians arrived from Hawaiiki(Taiwan).
A crew of road workers I spoke to at Bluff recommended the route to Te Anau. Bloody good advice I do say. I stopped at Gem stone beach and I wish I didn’t as my pockets were so full when I left i felt a bit foolish. (Just kidding the best ever). That bridge begs belief.
Exactly! Wat about Manurewa? Nothing wrong with Manurewa! 🤣😂 The Great South Rd. e.g. is amazing. Tarseal road running N'th to S'th. Out of control thugs either side. Just a amazing place! 😳😱😮.
very nice but way too superficial... you didn't really explore any of those places at all... you could do a complete video on just one of those locations. That was just the blah drive-through in a campervan type video but still nice.
You are correct, I could easily make that video 14 hours long with the content from that section alone. But I try to get a balance between presenting enough info to attract interest in the area, and not turning it into TV Mini-Series, that few would watch. Thanks for the comment.
Oh bullshit !! Opouteke is New Zealand's Most Secret place and without google earth you don't even know where it is 😁Lets be honest when was the last time you got an invite to Hotel Opouteke - The Ski resort from Hell and 40 klm from salt water - that's 40klm east 40klm west - Hotel Opouteke - From the "Final Destination" series movies ... only there's not a movie crew at the end when you get stuck - Opouteke where the Land actually eats people
Beautiful, but sadly I see the settler tradition of near total denuding the land of forest. Come on Kiwis, replant! With native trees, do your bit to soak up the CO2.

It would be better if they stayed where they are in my opinion…most of them are bludgers.
@@Pete-z6e agreed, soon the "tracks" become roads, and them roads can't be undone, fully dependent on more tourism dollars.
Well done, Dudley. What a great way to record your frequent travels for others to enjoy!🎉😊

Your "lived it" insight is appreciated, thanks.
I know these places, you really capture it.
Great video Dudley. It brings back happy memories of our trip around the same area last year.
Great video thanks, one of my favorite places down south.

An area for a motorcycle tour this year for sure.
@@richardpeychers4076yep also the ride into Millford Sound... a great road 👌
I drove the highway to Te Anau and on to MIlford Sound in 2021. It is a truly beautiful journey, with Riverton being my favorite.
I did that trip in the opposite direction a couple of years ago, stunning trip and a very relaxing drive.
Same, but in Jan 2010. A different sort of beauty and my gosh talk about a chilly summer : )
Discovered this area just last weekend after an Invercargill conference. Beautiful coast and mountains. Nice vid thanks.

I just got back from NZ today, first time touring around. Came across this Chanel on RUclips loved it will subscribe. Get ready for my next trip
Really enjoyed this thanks 😊

Interesting, enjoyable, informative and useful: thank you Dudley. Lkd&Subd.

Been there, done that. Great drive
Great video. Beautiful scenery.
Love Southland, worked six months at Wairio, and more than a year at other towns in Southland.
I enjoyed that Dude ....i appreciate your creativity and effort in making that ..brought back lots of good memories in being there in my student travels...cheers from Hamilton...keep it up...much appreciated!!!
Took my then girlfriend to Tuatapere for an ice cream, we've just celebrated 35 years married.
Time to go back for another ice cream. Congratulations on 35 years. 👍

Fantastic I've got a lot to see yet

Excellent.

Best place in nz I grew up in blue cliffs blackmount area
Love your channel. Good to be able to enjoy NZ without the hoardes. Discovered Riverton January this year, wonderful swimming in the sea.
I really enjoyed this vid and planning a trip on the same route hopefully get some ebiking if hire places about
You should do the Waitaki valley from Oamaru to Omarama. So many miss this amazing area.
Aha, thought that looked familiar, passed through in april. Didnt know invercargill had all that memorabilia. Bit annoyed now😂
Ka pai e hoa. Ataahua. 👍

Well it's a stupid floor plan for Tartarians. You would have thought they would have taken the contours into consideration, being so advanced.
It was NZ best kept secret

Done that a few times the long way to invers from te anau
What about Manurewa?

Well its not a secret now
No longer a secret.

if only the billions of investment had shown up here in 2023

Secrets are there to be spoiled by RUclipsrs for profit. #exploited

Sure did! Thanks Dudley. Will be awaiting that bell to ring
