I made a ~critical error~ in this video. Towards the end, I said that the star in Peach's Cell is a duplicate of the ones from "The Star" (look up in Lobby A) and the "Checkerboard" (warp in back of Uncanny Courtyard). This was incorrect, as it's actually a duplicate of The Star and the star hidden in the fake yellow switch. Meanwhile, the Checkerboard one is a duplicate of the one in the box in Bowser's Checkered Madness (which I show in this video but don't collect), the one on the ship after you raise it from the water in Jolly Roger Bay beta, and the one in Sanctuary A (the place that's mostly a long hallway with light beams on the sides and long stretches of black void, and has Peach's voice calling out). This has been vital information for your everyday life, starring Lori Beth Denberg and/or Danny Tamberelli.

So as it turns out, there's another fake red star that I overlooked, making the total of "stars that appear red, whether or not they actually count as red when collected" 20, not 19. This one is right next to another one, in the colored boxes room on Floor 3B. I knew about the one from Toad, but not the one in the breakable box. And as luck would have it, this is Star ID OW-2, which is one that was unobtainable outside of getting lucky with the yellow switch. So that increases the total (as far as I'm aware currently) to 178 collectable without cheats and without the yellow switch, and the yellow switch total remains 180.

Some of the levels in this alternate Beta Lobby A have slight differences while having new collectable stars, even if they often look very similar to the regular Beta Lobby A's levels. The top, entrance and courtyard doors still connect to the same places in both versions which make it harder to tell the difference. The submarine hatch being open is tied to the 'Alternate' Beta Lobby A. This specific Water Land can be distinguished if it does NOT have a star out of the water at the beginning of the level. The easiest way to tell each Beta Lobby A apart is by looking at the health HUD. If it is the blue health wedges, it is the original Beta Lobby A. If it is the wooden-gauge meter, it is the 'alternate' Beta Lobby A. Or I'm mixing the name terminology up. Again, this other Beta Lobby A can be found by entering the castle by chance, or by fast travelling. Love the videos, I'm forever fascinated by the little details and things B3313 pulls. I find it great fun to learn more about the game from you.
It's actually not by chance. When fast travelling, it cycles between A B and C, with A picking from either version randomly, so that one is by chance. If you enter the lobby from most areas, it will always be the "A-1" version. But going in from the main castle grounds has a trick to it.
Hi good video series on this hack, im pretty sure that the text boxes "welcome to mario wonderland" in the courtyard and "this castle is exclusive to the show" in the beta lobbys and beta floor 3 go away after you collect the main mips in the uncanny courtyard. At least thats how it was in 0.7 Its been awhile and I lost my original notes document but i was trying to route out the fastest possible way to speedrun 144 star in 0.7 and in my route I prioritized getting all the mips as fast as possible that way you didnt have to skip thru text boxes all the time However im not 100 percent sure if thats how it works in the new release and it has been awhile so i might have messed up some details
Do the red stars have any correlation with that room with the big pit that tells you you're not worthy? I assume not and that it's probably just an easter egg but I haven't been able to find any other videos on it.
Thank you for these videos, they are very insightful. Btw i keep finding stars that appear yellow but once collected they won’t count.. Is that another case of shared star IDs? Also sometimes when opening doors anywhere in the castle Mario would change into Luigi (or Luigi to Mario) it plays a sound effect too. Happened on several floors and even with the doors in a Big Boo Mansion level
The only stars that don't add to the total are some of the real reds (4 out of the 7), the green one, and the fake stars. There's 17 fake stars that I've found (all yellow). They don't actually have Star IDs at all as far as I know, or if they do, they point to something invalid. If you pick one up and then go back into the level, it will still be there.
Sometimes a star you've already collected can reappear as a star rather than a black dotted outline. Happened to me with the star I got from reaching the top of some nighttime city-like world in the yellow castle (i dont know the names of any of these places). I got the star, went back into the top of the level and the same star spawned and it didnt increase the count when I collected it. Some stars in the game are just broken I think and just don't trigger to appear differently if you got them, so if you ever collect a star that doesn't raise the star count its probably just a duplicate star that failed to appear differently as if you already collected it. That's my guess.

when I found the fly guy boss, I took the time to beat him but the game just softlocked, it wouldn't play the animation of him actually dying and just stood there ç_ç
Thanks again for the video. By the way, have you ever come across/unlocked the running frontflip move? I believe a red star unlocks that, I can't confirm which/what does it exactly because I discovered it probably way after I actually got it. Its possible that its the red star in the box that leads you to ghost peach (I'm not going to say its that cause I genuinely have no idea) but thats perhaps a move you unlock by getting one red star that may seem fake/not do anything. I've had that move for a while and no idea how I got it, not sure if you knew about the running frontflip. If you need to see it I could record a video showing it (but not how I got it as I dont know lol). Also again, I understand if they (Chris in particular) is really burned out and over it, but hopefully for a final release they just fix some of the stuff up. I don't even mind duplicate stars honestly its probably too much hassle to fix that all up, but hoping that at least only valid red stars (for the door count) appear red, and for all the fake red stars to just be yellow (unless theres an intentional reason ie to deceive the player). Also hopefully just lower the door count for the final area so you can get there the intended way. I'm sure we all have wishlists for this mod but theres so much content that if they just fix whats actually broken and tie up loose ends I'd be happy with it. Also holy shit Shy Guy taking 17 hits.. I love this mod to death but that's ridiculous.
By the front flip I assume you mean the running Z+B move, right? It's the replacement for the slide kick from vanilla. The first red star gives you that in addition to the long jump and better side flip. Second red star gives backflip, crawl, and breakdance attack (standing Z+B). It doesn't matter which red stars you collect or in what order, the game only cares how many you have.
The pipe to the midnight spire doesnt show up to me. I'm playing on the unabandoned original ost version, i dont know if its different from the one on the video
The second way to get into that area you pointed at the end of the vid doesn't work for me. People say run back to the door and jump in the hole but mines just take me back to the quicksand area for that star so I don't know the other ways to get to that final area.
it's RNG based. The pipe that I used always leads to Peach's Cell, but the pit can go either to that or to Eternal Fort (old). The Eternal Fort one is less common, so if you're not using savestates, it may take a while before you happen to get it.
It's still in the oil barrel. The level that you enter it from is "Geothermal Reactor", as I call it, which is the bullet bill painting in the lowest area of Nebula Lobby (place with purple walls).

All I could find when I tried looking it up was either getting through the star door via cheats, exploits like the BLJ, or previous versions of this ROM where the only requirement was 30 regular stars. I don't know the names of all the areas, but the only lead I could think of is going into the miniature castle, getting onto the roof, going into the double door that's in almost the same spot as this star door, going into the first door in that lobby area, then jumping into the pit. I just think these two are related because they are both in a similar area, and both say "You are not worthy" when trying to enter, but the pit path just dead ends by only warping me to the normal castle lobby. If it affects anything: I've collected all the red stars in this video even the duplicates (except the Fly Guy boss one), I've currently collected 85 stars, and I've pressed the yellow switch that's accessible from the hedge maze pipe. Am I on the right track and I'm missing something, or is the entrance just hiding in some other obscure corner of the castle I haven't gotten to yet?
When you take the warp from Bowser's giant throne, the next area has two warps - one's a square hole in the floor, and one's a pipe. Both normally take you to Peach's Cell, but the hole also has a small chance of warping you to the final Bowser fight. You can either beat him to go to the postgame areas, or you can die on purpose to warp back to Randomized Realm (the place you're asking about). You need 33 stars to enter the throne room with the warp, but otherwise there's no special requirements.

I was completely caught off guard when I went back into the end pipe in the Randomized Realm to find a whole new Bowser fight level, I thought it was only that straight path with some gaps, and I didn't even know this ROM hack has a postgame; can't wait to see what else is in store :)

They're not duplicates, but they're also not real red stars. They just count as yellows when you collect them. (There's a list of all of the fake reds in the description)
@@Sponta_ fast travel can work but it's not guaranteed. My last comment was meant to be a subtle hint, but I'll just say it. From the castle grounds, if you enter the castle from the right door, the levels are slightly different than if you enter from the left.
I have another video (B3313 1.0 Release information + FAQ) that has the link. The title says 1.0, but it's the one known as 0.9 / unabandoned. There was a lot of confusion over the version number when it first got released.
for some reason no matter how many red stars i collect, even after erasing my file A save i still cant turn on hard mode again after i somehow REdisabled it on my original file A save. help.
I don't really know what you mean, sorry. Most of the things that I've seen people refer to as "hard mode" happen naturally after playing the game long enough, depending on a bunch of hard-to-define factors. The yellow switch can also turn some of them on automatically I think, but I don't really know for sure.
@@BikdipOnABus yeah File A gave me the ability to have red goombas and instant detonation bomb ombs, and then took them away when i got a red star (might have either been the star in a box on Floor 2B near the peach painting, or the mario's maze red star)
@@mouse2621 im no expert on this subject, but maybe it will probably eventually re-enable "hard mode" once you play long enough. I noticed how there seem to be more goombas and bob-ombs on my 150 stars file? Maybe you should try activating the yellow switch if it might help.
@@slayerunava1793 1. i will NEVER activate that damned yellow switch i am keeping my mf hat 2. i transferred File A to File B before i erased File A, File B appears to have all of my yellow and red stars AND has no passive health regen + harder enemies on. ig all i had to do was switch saves?

I think that lobby you're talking about has been dubbed "Beta Lobby E", or maybe that's a completely different place.

Pressing the yellow switch checks those mips stars off so that also works. It was the same in 0.7 as well.

The shy guy glitching out always happened if I killed it by diving into it, I’m pretty sure you have to kick it for the final hit or it won’t work.

in 1.0.2 the fake red star in Bowser's Checkered Madness has been turn into a real red star but then the real red star turn in to a duplicate star

The key doors in the crimson hallway are locked for me. How do I unlock them?
Only one side should be locked. Try both sides of the door.

They're not duplicates, but they're also not real red stars. They just count as yellows when you collect them. (There's a list of all of the fake reds in the description)
