Well the Barians have superhuman abilities and can fire energy blasts of their own. Honestly it's the first time I buy the whole "we have to duel them" thing because it's an enemy that could probably survive a gun.

@@erikwoodruff5643 DM had the whole "Duel monsters is the modern version of this ancient magical ritual thing". GX more or less kept that in addition to it apparently being how Duel Monsters themselves battle each other. In 5ds they used the excuse from DM for the Dark Signers, made up new reasons for each duel and they also had the whole thing with Duel Runners coming to a stop after a Turbo Duel which is why Security duels the criminals instead of shooting out tires: it's safer to disable the duel runner with a forced duel.
Every series has some decent reason as to why they have to duel, but Zexal just flat out created enemies where real life logic most likely wouldn't work. Zexal may be my least favorite series, but I give credit where credit is do and making does where I can understand why a card is a better answer than a gun is one of them.
I know he’s not the best protagonist at first, but I’m glad they decided to break the mould with him. It was getting tiring seeing protagonist who could defeat a world champion or someone like that in their first duel in the first episode, means they don’t have much room for character development.
I agree. I like that he started at Tristan level and grew. My only problem is how he regress back to the starting point since the beginning of the tournament and relearning how to read card he often use.

Jilver Mazariegos The only thing that changed about Jayden was his deck. He was always one of the best and luckiest duelist. His main problem was staying true to himself.

And he made a bridge I think.

Holy crap. This is the first time I've ever seen an episode of Zexal and y'know what? This is actually really fun. I'm about three minutes in and I'm actually impressed with how much I'm enjoying myself so far considering how much I thought I'd hate it.
Same, I haven't watched Yugioh since GX and, I don't hate this at all.
Same. Ngl, I only watched until 5D. Never liked Zexal characters style, but this is somehow enjoyable.
Zexal Season 1 has a lot less stakes attached. Season 2 is when the ride begins for real, but people usually get too sick of the whimsy Season 1 to continue further.

Ok, so yugioh! (The first one with yugi) is the darkest one of all, yet the dub wasn't allowed guns or anything to do with death, but zexal wich is supposed to also be more light hearted and comical has a rocket launcher? Logic?
DSOD's dub still has a gun as cinema regulations aren't as strict compared to the US Broadcasting Standards.
I have seen some cartoons where characters have rocket launchers(or other weapons like that) for comedy purposes. I think it's the same here.

Neither is better, nor worse. Zexal is considered more lighthearted because of the pretty colours.

That was the only problem with the Battle City Tournament,which is that you can get the wrong piece of the puzzle! I am glad Takahashi thought about this!
I assumed the point of the Locator Cards was that the duel disk would register the number you had in order to give the location for the finals rather than each one being different (it makes less sense for a tournament to use things which function like Heart Pieces due to bad luck potentially leading to some duelists only needing to win 4 matches to get to the finals while others are screwed over by getting pieces which they can't fit together).

i really love the fact the protagonist isn't some "know it all genius" for once in a yugioh series. I mean it does sorta nag on here and there but its a refreshing change of pace from the last 3 series'

Rocket Arrow Express is one of those cards with too many drawbacks to ever be useful. Kind of a shame, because a 5000 ATK monster that can be summoned right from your hand is really cool.
You can't even use it with Skill Drain (you can hkwever use it against skill drain)
