This is also one of the duels that really shows off the powers of the arc light crest which really doesn’t play that major a role, besides taking peoples souls and stuff. Honestly how trey was able to completely override someone’s personality is terrifying, and had it not been for yumas father he would’ve been wiped out.
One of the most realistic reasonings when a protag has his back against the wall. He lost something which really meant something to him and was able to turn things around with it. With that said, wouldn't people notice that something was going to happen when it was about to happen? The world being destroyed the ar didn't apply with that card.

Trey could have won on the turn after Yuma attempted to surrender: Yuma had 1700 LP at the time; if Trey used the effect of his Babylon Field Spell at the start of his turn, he could have banished Mask Golem to resurrect his Catapult. Then, he could Normal Summon Mud Golem and use the effect of Catapult, sacrificing Mud Golem to wipe out Gogogo Golem’s 1800 ATK, which, via the effect of Machu Mech, would then be dealt as damage by using its final Overlay Unit, eliminating Yuma’s LP. Trey got cocky and that’s why he ended up missing a prime opportunity of victory.
As trey himself already said he wanted to break yuma i am pretty sure trey himself already knew he could have done that but he wanted to torture yuma more so it is more trey being too sadistic to want to finish the duel too soon
there were also some other stupid ways yuma could lose. episode 89 number 96 or dark astral could have not helped them and the show could have ended with the bad guys winning because yuma and astral are out of the way also in episode 143 minute 8:05 nash could have attacked with aero shark instead of black ray lancer because its a weaker card and utopia had 2500 attack points while aero shark had 1900 he could have used the weaker card first to deal more damage with the stronger card while yuma was having no monsters or face downs on his field. also in episode 145 minute 14:26 astral could have not blocked the attack like any normal duelist would but if you are going to make excuses and say astral was bring cautious well yuma could have battled with stronger monster to trick astral and if astral didnt get tricked he would still not lose the duel so yeah that’s pretty dumb

Yuma misplayed. If he played battle break instead of Utopia’s ability, Yuma would win the duel without needing Zexal. I doubt Trey had the resources to summon anything else to match Utopia nor Utopia Ray considering he did play Final Prophecy which was considered a “last resort”.
first of all this is kid friendly. second of all he would fall in the ocean which means he wouldnt die and if he drowned the duel still wouldnt end because it only registers when a duel ends when one of the duelists who are dueling lose all their life points or running out of cards in their deck

And Trey is supposed to be a good guy? He is literally brainwashing and torturing his opponent, capturing and nearly killing Astral and even playing a freaking Armageddon card just to get a thumb up from his kid-daddy and take a new Christmas Family Photo... I am currently rewatching this series and seeing all these scenes knowing how these characters will end up is even more annoying. The same thing can be said about Quattro, who is acting like an Uber-psycho and soon will make a complete 180 and "softy eyes", even though not that long ago he was completly ecstatic about torturing Heart and draining out his Powers. This is not "being lost" or "drunk with power", this family is just plain evil and stupid.

Not to also mention how scarily dark trey and his self destructive mindset towards his own worth to his family is genuinely something concerning as well since he legitimately seems to at least at this point in the show have the mindset that he is essentially worthless and expendable to his family which is all kinds of messed up and quattro well he was already batshit insane from the first moment we saw him on screen and considering how the crest in this three parter changed trey to being much more malicious then ever makes me wonder if vetrix brainwashed his own sons when he gave them the crests
Tray clearly has PTSD with losing his father being separated from his brothers those events did severe damage to his mind when you lose what feels like you're most idealized and happy life you can be easily pushed to extreme ends just to retrieve what little of that old life there is left or to get back what you idealize even going to extremes that your younger self would have hated
The crests and other powers in yu-gi-oh affects the way the game works affecting the real world like with the final prophecy trap basically ending the world

Uh oh! This duel between Trey & Yuma Tsukomo has become intensively ugly. If Yugi Muto was here, he'll say to Yuma Tsukomo that to win the duel against Trey & get Astral back is to trust in the heart of the cards & go for victory.
In the next episode, Trey will summon Number 6 Chronomaly Atlandtis. Then he will use the Final Prophecy spell and everything will be transported to Barian World. Trey gives Yuma the Crest's power to bring back Astral. Yuma's dad makes an appearance. They do Zexal Morph and defeat Trey, he leaves number 33 and 6 with Yuma and a heart piece. The episode after the next one is the start of Season 2.

Yuma misplayed. If he played battle break instead of Utopia’s ability, Yuma would win the duel without needing Zexal. I doubt Trey had the resources to summon anything else to match Utopia nor Utopia Ray considering he did play Final Prophecy which was considered a “last resort”.

first of all this is kid friendly. second of all he would fall in the ocean which means he wouldnt die and if he drowned the duel still wouldnt end because it only registers when a duel ends when one of the duelists who are dueling lose all their life points or running out of cards in their deck

I am currently rewatching this series and seeing all these scenes knowing how these characters will end up is even more annoying.
The same thing can be said about Quattro, who is acting like an Uber-psycho and soon will make a complete 180 and "softy eyes", even though not that long ago he was completly ecstatic about torturing Heart and draining out his Powers.
This is not "being lost" or "drunk with power", this family is just plain evil and stupid.
they have some inherited psychopathic tendencies for sure. Clearly Trey is very sensitive, but lacking in empathy. And he also shows... a reckless disregard for consequences... and Quatro has traits of narcissism. oh my god they're actually a family of psychopaths o_o
Not to also mention how scarily dark trey and his self destructive mindset towards his own worth to his family is genuinely something concerning as well since he legitimately seems to at least at this point in the show have the mindset that he is essentially worthless and expendable to his family which is all kinds of messed up and quattro well he was already batshit insane from the first moment we saw him on screen and considering how the crest in this three parter changed trey to being much more malicious then ever makes me wonder if vetrix brainwashed his own sons when he gave them the crests
Tray clearly has PTSD with losing his father being separated from his brothers those events did severe damage to his mind when you lose what feels like you're most idealized and happy life you can be easily pushed to extreme ends just to retrieve what little of that old life there is left or to get back what you idealize even going to extremes that your younger self would have hated

It is Trey's crest. Vetrix gave it to him before the duel. It gives him all sorts of powers. He probably has the power to make the damage real.
The crests and other powers in yu-gi-oh affects the way the game works affecting the real world like with the final prophecy trap basically ending the world

Trey gives Yuma the Crest's power to bring back Astral. Yuma's dad makes an appearance. They do Zexal Morph and defeat Trey, he leaves number 33 and 6 with Yuma and a heart piece.
The episode after the next one is the start of Season 2.
