Tommy's redemption felt too fast, imo. I'm glad he was redeemed but there was hardly any trust issues that erupted from their conflicts. Eh, I kinda prefer when Rangers does it’s own, very unique thing with Sentai footage. From a production standpoint it shows the creativity of the writers and gives me a reason to watch and assess both by their own merits instead of trying to compare them as an adaptation.
What I like most about this arc is the parallels between Trent and Anton. They are both forcibly taken over by a power beyond their control. But in Anton's case, he still retains a lot of himself, who he really is, despite his monstrous alter-ego. Trent isn't so lucky, slowly losing himself to the white gems influence until he is unrecognisable. Because of this, we see Anton's best qualities start to shine through. Before now, he seemed rather cold and uncaring. But he does care for Trent and would never want him to go through the same thing he does with Mezagog. And it's _because_ of Mezagog that Trent is going through this in the first place. This culminates in Anton eventually being the one to free his son of the gems influence. Very fitting. Trent was turned bad because of Mezagog, but is saved from this curse by his father. The good side winning out over the bad side.

Although the white dino ranger clone was in order to keep using abarekiller footage of him fighting the rangers it was a good idea soo it could create a parallel between Anton and Trent with their evil counterparts

Man, I understood what people back in the day must have felt about the original Green Ranger without even knowing they were a thing when I saw White Thunder for the first time. Trent as the White Ranger is my favorite evil Ranger in the entire series, because these episodes were the BOMB.
I usually watch the tokusatsu side and not power rangers, but god damn Dino Thunder was one of the best series ever. It totally blew me away watching it as a kid, it was so good n mature for no reason, with insanely fleshed out characters.
@@HedgeOnStage Oh ye, it s just a personal thing of mine. While technically PR is toku, same as armor hero or chouseshin, it just doesnt feel like the Japanese ones, so my brain just default to calling one tokusatsu, n the other just Power rangers. Dino thunder still holds up for the most part was 7 years old when this one came out on toondisney back in the day an Evil white ranger and Tommy coming back one final time as a team leader was awesome solid me on it alone when the trailer came out ❤❤❤
I just started DT last night and dude Mesagog is so freakin cool! The part where he’s interrogating Kira and he just teleports around the room to scare her was so epic!
dino thunder took such a different direction from abaranger, some better and some worse. trent and mikoto are so similar but so different, and theyre both amazing characters
When I was a teenager and watched PRDT on TV, this trilogy and the whole evil White Ranger arc blew my mind. Not only he has one of the best suits ever in PR (even until now), but it was so well written and kept me in the edge of the chair. I think Trent redemption and how the White Ranger was nerfed after that is kind of depressing, but at least he got a good conclusion. Years later, when I saw the Super Sentai counterpart, Abaranger, even tho I think Abare Killer (White Ranger's counterpart) was a bit more interesting because he was evil not being controlled or anything, just because he wanted to, I still thought evil Trent was as good arc and I still love it. I remember in a panel, Jeffrey Parazzo (Trent actor) said that he watched the Super Sentai counterpart and wanted to look like AbareKiller and expected, like him, to be evil till the very end.
I remember being a kid who's first series was wild force so I had a bit of idea of extra rangers but seeing the white ranger for the first time absolutely annilalating a monster that would've taken a whole episode for the main trio to beat then seeing him take down the trio with such ease was such a core memory. It really ingrained in me how good a anti-hero could be at such a young age even though I didn't have the exact words for what the white ranger was at that time. It was a different type of beat down compared to the ones the wildforce and ninjastorm rangers experienced for the first time. Despite it being sentai footage, to this day I have never felt a anti-hero debut as powerful as the one the white ranger showed. Trent's struggle to "control" his power was also probably my first time into learning about super powered evil sides with emphasize on the "super". Not to mention the clone of him that fought a experienced and powered up Conner that almost effortless defeated the clone to show how far the trio had come and all of this climaxing to Trent not only mastering his powers but even having to fight a clone of him who could also enter super dino mode was probably what helped make this my fav series of power rangers.
The entire season was great and the slow build up and reveal of mesagog and who he was really made the series stand out to me . Then we have this arc with the white ranger and how dark it truly was ell trent in some parts of the arc looked like a drug user strung out with how pale they made him look and sickly. to me it very closely showed what a drug could to do to a person and change them in a short time then eventually them over coming said use and atoning for their sins. This was such a well written arc for power rangers that not many other things in the franchise surpass it. The subtle hints we slowly get during this really made this series so bloody good. I wish we got something like this again with it being so gritty. then we have the main villain for this like you said its was unsettling just how much they came off as truly evil and made his showing up even more dramatic
Awww man my dream channel i always wanted somone seriously breaking down Power Rangers I was even thinking of doing it myself thanks for the channel man subscribed
I think this trilogy is so good an unsettling because they took everything the mmpr story green with evil did right and improved upon those elements and combined them with new elements that would enhance the story, it really is the definition learning from the past
The one thing I would change with Trent was that his megazord got more screen time after he gained control of the gem and joining the team. The Dino Stegozord Megazord was my favourite and I was really bummed that they didn’t use it more often even tho Trent didn’t need to steal the Stegozord for it now
As a kid, white thunder was my first taste of green with evil. Since i wasn't born when MMPR came out; So seeing trent's struggle to control the white dino gem makes you feel bad for him. And the scene where we see mesogog's transformation scared the hell out of me! (pardon my french)
Dino thunder was peak power rangers. It had the best acting it had Tommy and it had the best writing. It wasn’t just meant for kids it was meant for those who grew up with mighty morphin and zeo
Mystic Force was also kinda Dark. Everyt time Nick meet Koragg it was not Fun anymore. The Villains were all Dark and Not Funny. So my two Favorite Seasons are Dino Thunder and Mystic Force
That intro didn't have to come out the gate like that 😂 Great vid, even for those of us who remember how slept on Lightspeed Rescue was and how Lost Galaxy rang our second W in season finales. Having to remember Trent's trenches like this just reminds me how the writers just went for it in the Disney era (s/o RPM).
I grew out of power rangers pretty early into my teens, so going back into it is a little difficult for me with the weird dialogue and action. With that said, I have always enjoyed the storytelling and designs and watching this video felt like a trip down memory lane.
It was a good idea to have Tommy mentor another fallen ranger. I'll have to reaatch the shows it's been ages. I recall it being a short series? Still remember watching the show when it aired loved the white ranger he's got a super cool suit.
That's a +1 point on Abaranger part, Abarekiller never stop being the strongest, even the villains were in fear of him except for Jeanne and Lord Dezmonzyla
Honestly og,dino thunder, and willbalways be my favorite power ranger shows. They really uped production and story of the shows there. Almost every episode was good. I should read the comics I heard theyre good.
Abakiller in general is just an iconic character. I like Abakiller in Bakryu Sentai Abaranger a bit more than Trent (especially given his motivation to be "evil" isn't from a generic "you're good I'm bad but more so "It's my life, I'll do whatever I want. I have power and therefor am free to do what I want) but Trent is still a great character that is worthy to hold up the mantle. But damn if you think the beat down the rangers got in Dino Thunder? That's just the censored version. If you see what Abakiller does to the other Abarangers in Sentai, bruh...It could've gotten WAY WORSE for everyone involved.
Anyone who has seen Abaranger knows that Abarekiller was almost the “death” of Sentai. Mothers in Japan thought Abarekiller was too evil and were going to boycott Abaranger, so they ended up making Dr. Nakadai more of an antihero than an outright villain. Actually in the Abaranger 20 Years After film, they once again make a clone of Mikoto in order to utilize his “true” evil nature. He of course was playing them and ends up back with his team but case and point; Abarekiller was almost the end of it all. That’s why I love Trent, also his suits are just too clean; both the regular and Super Dino mode
Something I always wanted to see, was a Lord Drakkon version of Trent's White Ranger Clone. I think that would've made a perfect Anti-hero/Villain Character had it been expanded upon. Could've taken it a step further with the Clone stealing all of Mezagog's powers to turn into someone much worse. *Overlord Thundar*.
If you loved this great story check out the Abaranger arc that covers the same idea, it’s the sentai this series is based off of and Abare Killer (DinoWhite) was just chilling, and his death is so saddening
Damn!! I wish David Jason was still around for a Dino Thunder reunion, I truly love to see something to do with this series, bring the OG Ranger and Dino Thunder Ranger together for an epic movie esq reunion to honour David Jason tbh, like what we've got so far, but yeah
No matter..make white ranger the master and 3 main rangers character should be given to some teenage brats.. bring some new characters like gold ranger as evil 6th ranger whose suit will be exactly same as white dino ranger...that will look super cool ..also and additional ranger in green or black can be kept in main team...
There are exceptions to why I love Dino Thunder and it’s rooted in it being a legacy season/spiritual successor to Mighty Morphin, let’s just say if the penultimate clips show was going to pan out the way it did, maybe red Ranger should have been the one to free Trent, if not, exactly what Trent did should’ve been dealt with as a consequence to writing him off as no longer good and just abandoning him.
The issue is, this crew was always a bit more blunt and narrow minded than other Ranger groups. They were always thinking elimination first, "can they be redeemed" second, ESPECIALLY Connor. Heck Connor was always way more serious than the rest, and usually lacked patience until way later when he really started to grow into his leader role. Which is interesting, since Trent was very reasonable but at the mercy of a possessing force, making redemption an irrelevant question. It flows much better with these characters, whereas in Mighty Morphin the Rangers were way more reasonable but Tommy was straight mind controlled, and thus not reasonable at all. The arcs contrast each other and play on the strengths/weaknesses of each cast quite well. The Dino Thunder crew are especially slow to trust, and they keep that consistent. But in alot of ways it's also not a flaw, since they're knowingly dealing with shapeshifters and psychic villains. Trent just happened to get caught in a warzone rather than a slice of life.
@@clayxros576 and they should have all had that be consequential because that makes them the irredeemable ones or at least they would be if Trent didn’t make it out of a battle.
Fantastic video. I loved Dino Thunder season. Probably in my top 3 Power Rangers seasons, alongside RPM and SPD. The White Dino Thunder ranger episodes were great and i nice homage to the evil Green Ranger we got in MMPR.
I have a theory that The White Drago Morpher, while being at it's "evil" stage, worked just like Venom to Spider-Man, an symbiont. Basically, the White Drago Morpher was made to just an strong being (Mesogog) controll the true power of the Dino Gem, and since Trent (an human weak being) took the Morpher for himself without knowing, as he wasn't about to controll the Morpher Power, the Morpher used the energy of the Dino Gem to impose it's will over Trent and so, to release bad emotions and behavior over Trent to cause him this destructive behavior over everyone. In the end, what the Electro Bolt of Mesogogs lab did to Trents Morpher, was destroying the Morpher will over it's user, and so, killing the Symbiotic Morpher. If that never happened, and Trent continued using the evil version of the Morpher, probably, he would end up dying and his Dino Gem would explode, and that explosion, being chaotic to all of Reefside (just like what happened in Super Sentai). That's my theory.
Hello Hedge. Just a curious question, but have you ever thought about finishing your Barney retrospective series, or do you have other plans? Thank you and keep up the great work. 👍

WAIT IT WAS A FEATHER
@@-Chilldude- feather/quill
Man, I understood what people back in the day must have felt about the original Green Ranger without even knowing they were a thing when I saw White Thunder for the first time.
Trent as the White Ranger is my favorite evil Ranger in the entire series, because these episodes were the BOMB.
YESSS
Getting the White Dino Thunder Ranger’s autograph at Disney World while they still had the IP is one of my fondest memories.
so cool!! did you get autographs from the other Rangers roaming around?
I usually watch the tokusatsu side and not power rangers, but god damn Dino Thunder was one of the best series ever. It totally blew me away watching it as a kid, it was so good n mature for no reason, with insanely fleshed out characters.
You mean you usually watch Japanese shows, power rangers is tokusatsu
but I get you
@@HedgeOnStageAmeritoku
@@HedgeOnStage Oh ye, it s just a personal thing of mine. While technically PR is toku, same as armor hero or chouseshin, it just doesnt feel like the Japanese ones, so my brain just default to calling one tokusatsu, n the other just Power rangers. Kinda like how cartoon n anime r both animation. It also doesnt help that there isnt rlly a kamen rider/ultraman counterpart like PR.
One of the best pr villians ever he'd terrify me as a kid
dino thunder took such a different direction from abaranger, some better and some worse. trent and mikoto are so similar but so different, and theyre both amazing characters
trent: minding his business
white ranger: I remember you was conflicted
Awww man my dream channel i always wanted somone seriously breaking down Power Rangers I was even thinking of doing it myself thanks for the channel man subscribed
thank you for being here! Make sure to use the playlist in the description, that’s where all of these deep dives go in order of series~
I think this trilogy is so good an unsettling because they took everything the mmpr story green with evil did right and improved upon those elements and combined them with new elements that would enhance the story, it really is the definition learning from the past
White Thunder to me serves as a fantastic capstone to Tommy's ranger career.
Ninja storm to dino thunder to spd was a goated run
BANGER, AFTER BANGER, AFTER BANGER and literally this was around the time I was watching the series religiously
Golden era run of shows l swear
50 seconds in Say No More i 100% agree with you that white thunder is the best trilogy.
yessssss 🙌
I think disney's PR Dino ranger is one of the BEST season they made
The one thing I would change with Trent was that his megazord got more screen time after he gained control of the gem and joining the team.
No broo😭😭 this truly hits nostalgia
Good old time
coming back from school and binging power ranger
Dino thunder and mystic force are my fav ❤❤
Dinothunder was surprisingly dark.
Connor “just so you know, good guys don’t wear white”
Ethan: 🤨
LMAO
Dino Thunder designs were always sorely underrated.
Finally someone seriously breaking down power rangers so many underrated storylines
Dino thunder was peak power rangers. It had the best acting it had Tommy and it had the best writing. It wasn’t just meant for kids it was meant for those who grew up with mighty morphin and zeo
That and SPD as well
Mystic Force was also kinda Dark.
Everyt time Nick meet Koragg it was not Fun anymore. The Villains were all Dark and Not Funny. So my two Favorite Seasons are Dino Thunder and Mystic Force
Dino Thunder is my favorite of all the series. A threatening main villain is a bonus.
The White Thunder episodes are definitely my favorites.
That intro didn't have to come out the gate like that 😂
Great vid, even for those of us who remember how slept on Lightspeed Rescue was and how Lost Galaxy rang our second W in season finales. Having to remember Trent's trenches like this just reminds me how the writers just went for it in the Disney era (s/o RPM).
This is awesome. Dino Thunder was one of my favorites and was basically the one I grew up on.
YOURE USING STARFALL ISLANDS AGAIN I LOVE THIS
Oh man, this was really compelling - a followup would be awesome!
tysm! currently working on a continuation 💪
Certified childhood classic… the crossover with the S.P.D Rangers was amazing
Trent with those powers was the Power Rangers' Hollow Ichigo 😂
I grew out of power rangers pretty early into my teens, so going back into it is a little difficult for me with the weird dialogue and action. With that said, I have always enjoyed the storytelling and designs and watching this video felt like a trip down memory lane.
The white dino rangers mask is the coolest thing I've ever seen with the red shade instead of the usual black
It was a good idea to have Tommy mentor another fallen ranger. I'll have to reaatch the shows it's been ages. I recall it being a short series? Still remember watching the show when it aired loved the white ranger he's got a super cool suit.
It's funny how every ranger in all power ranger series when they are evil are insanely powerful but as soon as they become good they become weak.
I always hated that trope.
That's a +1 point on Abaranger part, Abarekiller never stop being the strongest, even the villains were in fear of him except for Jeanne and Lord Dezmonzyla
I liked how through the course of White Thunder the dino gem was just corrupting Trent into something he was not.
Out of all the evil rangers, the Dino white ranger really had that "evil" aura along with that sick suit design
DINO THUNDER WAS GOATED. Best Ranger show imo
Trent’s white ranger was my favourite out them all including ninja 🥷 storm ⛈️ back when story telling was at its best
To be honest, the white Dino ranger was my absolute favorite character and my favorite suit.
I always smiled when he showed up on screen
Trent was kicking they ass😂😂
Honestly og,dino thunder, and willbalways be my favorite power ranger shows. They really uped production and story of the shows there. Almost every episode was good.
I should read the comics I heard theyre good.
The Nostalgia! THE NOSTALGIA! MY CHILDHOOD REAWAKENED!!! YEEEEEES
Nakadai was a SAVAGE. The way he decimated and murdered one of the monsters.... 😮
@@nathanvertil7355Nakadai was always on some demon timing I swear. He also had the best general fit. The all white looks so clean
Awesome video. Keep working and you'll refine your craft. I like seeing PRs channels.
RIP JDF.
I appreciate ya 🙏
RIP to the legend
Trent and Tommy are just like each other
Dino thunder is my first power ranger show and I still think it’s one of the best power rangers series that we have till this day
^^^
Samurai was my first one and imo Jungle Fury was the best one
I've never wanted to see a redemption more watching this it was just so tragic
THIS IS ACTUALLY MY FAVORITE POWER RANGERS!
Dang this was when they hired real actors and not just instagram models LUL
This arc was ANXIETY inducing
TRUE
Man when white ranger showed up
He was handing out the smoke left and right
And I quote: ‘’You? But you almost annihilated me!’' 😭
Trent and Tommy had the sickest suits in all of power rangers.
whiter ranger had that drip
on god
If you loved this great story check out the Abaranger arc that covers the same idea, it’s the sentai this series is based off of and Abare Killer (DinoWhite) was just chilling, and his death is so saddening
Damn!! I wish David Jason was still around for a Dino Thunder reunion, I truly love to see something to do with this series, bring the OG Ranger and Dino Thunder Ranger together for an epic movie esq reunion to honour David Jason tbh, like what we've got so far, but yeah
“Jason David Frank” but yes absolutely
No matter..make white ranger the master and 3 main rangers character should be given to some teenage brats.. bring some new characters like gold ranger as evil 6th ranger whose suit will be exactly same as white dino ranger...that will look super cool ..also and additional ranger in green or black can be kept in main team...
You'd think they'd catch on that the guy wearing an awful lot of white was the white ranger. Like how they dress.
I like Dino White because he gets an actual transformation sequence and not just white light like AbareKiller from Abaranger lol
This brings back memories
pure nostalgia ~
10:23 like I said Mesagog is just too cool mann😂
this was harry and norman osborn all over again
Back when life was good
Say what you want, but White has one of the dopest suits in PR history.
This trilogy was the only part of Dino thunder i remember vividly.
Putting my nostalgia and bias aside, Dino Thunder is really the best Power Ranger series in the entire franchise.
When power angers were still teen oriented and not very childish
I loved Dino Thunder growing up.
Hello Hedge. Just a curious question, but have you ever thought about finishing your Barney retrospective series, or do you have other plans? Thank you and keep up the great work. 👍
There’s plenty of Barney history related content currently being scripted

I watched that intro in 1.5x speed on accident and was like “dang he made it freaky sounding on purpose”
