In the USA where 400 MILLION Firearms are in the Hands of 100 Million Gun Owners (1/3 of the US Population) you would think that there would be more than 12,650 of Death by firearms per year, especially when most household and daily use objects kill many more times the amount of people per year. Most of that 12,650 Deaths are from Gang on Gang Violence, Police Kills, and Accidental Deaths, less than a 3rd of those deaths are from Legal gun owners using them against others and there isn't a single Law that could be imagined that would actually change it for the better but the legislation proposed and implemented creates defenseless victims adding to those numbers as criminals prey on those that cannot defend themselves. 100,000,000 of 400,000,000 Armed and less than a 3rd of 12,650 deaths attributed to those that obey the law - that percentage is insane when the media constantly floats "Gun Violence" (nonsensical term) so often. Hammers, Fists, Knives, Chainsaws, Toothpicks, Cosmetics (Make-Up), Food, Cars, Alcohol, Smoking all kill many more people per year than all firearms combined and Doctors are the 3rd leading cause of Death in the USA (250K) but you don't see any of the movements the firearms industry sees to ban them or regulate/restrict them. Do you fear that you will perish getting a physical by your doctor? An intense rage and emotional outburst in terror if you have to get a checkup? Most likely not as there aren't any media to strike fear into your heart that doctors kill more people than almost anything else around you. Now imagine if the news/media reported every death by a doctors hand every day all year long for 2+ decades. People would have that type of fear in their spines for doctors, this has been done to firearms and firearm owners since the mid 70's and for what ever reason the average gun owner receives the blame for any one person's criminal actions. What is also crazy is that people think police should have firearms and not gun owners, they fear gun owners but studies have shown that firearm permit holders are 30% more law-abiding than the police. Guns save 250K-3 Million people per year in defensive use against violent crimes (Rape, Muggings, Robbery), many times not even firing a shot. Is there any other object that SAVES so many people per year? That takes such a small percentage of lives? That is as demonized as firearms? Now on to Mass Killings, these people are MURDERERS...and murder is against the law, yet they are still doing it, they use all types of methods to commit these atrocious behaviors but when its not firearms its usually not reported by the media. There have been 38 Mass Killings with Knives alone since 2006 and the average death count is much higher than the average death count of firearm-related Mass Killings. There are many more with Bombs (Already regulated heavily and Illegal to own without permits), cars, baseball bats, and other objects but when have you seen a report within the USA about these Mass Killings? There is a agenda and a narrative, whether you believe so or not, there is no other reason for the selective reporting of information. They paint a terrible picture on the media that certain guns are worse than others, some are "military assault weapons" (false made up term). They say the AR15 is one of them but the AR15 is not military and nor does it have select fire. Its a tactical looking hunting rifle and have been used in just a handful of Mass Killings, most are committed by handguns and rifles that shoot no more than 5 rounds before reloading. The firearm isnt important, the persons intent, mental stability, and nature is, especially when every Mass Killing has a trend that can easily been seen if you look. All Mass Murderers have been medicated with Psychotropic medications, have mental instability issues. They go to areas with little resistance (Gun Free Zones) that are largely populated, why restricting the access of more people to firearms will only lead to more defenseless victims. What happened to America? Why is it that it's perfectly acceptable to punish good people for the deeds of bad people whenever firearms are involved but not elsewhere? Could you imagine the outrage if you told folks they could no longer purchase pain medication because SOME people abuse them and die from overdoses. Oh and the hordes of people would lament and demand their meds and they would be told "surely you can do without those drugs because even if it saves just one life, it's worth it". I actually love the song's arrangements. It starts out slow with the haunting choir and then kicks into disco bliss. And the "hustle" chorus is very clever and catchy. Madonna does it again. Her courage and care for human lives are incomparable.

I understood the song from the jump but I’m older and I’ve seen far too many shootings not to recognize what she was doing... however this video even exceeded my expectations. From the on set I knew this was a powerful message. Listening to the album in full had summarised my feelings on what is happening to us all in 2019. The real nightmare that is just around the corner. Yet there is hope and love in the middle of it all. God Control is a symbol for the confusion and evil that we are all experiencing and will continue to live in if people don't stand up and fight for what is right. Guns are not a symbol of freedom of choice but of hate and murder. I had noticed that many bloggers, reviewing Madame X, have all commented on the obvious, i.e. the eclectic and quite eccentric production of the album as its crazy compared to other Madonna albums but in all honesty, it represents the craziness of the times we are living in and the political message the artist is trying to communicate to us all. Madonna has always written to express the vibe of the times that she/ we are living in. I have been there from the very first album so its very obvious to me and to many of her hardcore fans. Its a pity that radio stations that cater for the 18 to 35 year old are not wising up to her amazing messages now within her music...…….I am sick to death of mediocre pop like Taylor Swift...….No message nor real substance. i was on the verge of tearing by the end of the video. in australia we introduced strict gun laws since the port arthur massacre in '96, and it is frustrating and saddening to read about one mass shooting after another in america with no change to gun control. i liked the song from the beginning but this video brought it to a new level. i'm thankful that madonna continues to highlight very important and very real issues such as this through her art.

Why Is It So Hard, Pray For Spanish Eyes, American Life, etc. she has so many hidden gems that most people dont see. she continues to empower people! about the music itself, this is also brilliant! it doesnt have/ follow the usual patterns : verse, chorus, bridge, etc. the singing at the beginning (slow song) and also the singing the beginning (and later on) of the disco, are not repeated anywhere again in the rest of the song. the slow song at the beginning also becomes the spoken lyric later on. the strings arrangement in some part also shows chaotic vibes. I actually think the album track without the overlay of the dialogue and gun effects is more daring and cohesive, as it requires the audience to put the pieces together, which is the mark of great art. For example, you seeing Madonna do the hustle and "understanding" the song better now perhaps isn't right. The hustle she's talking about in the song isn't the dance but rather the political and business apparatus keeping guns readily available. That's why she follows it with "it's a con." With or without the brilliant video, the song is fucking brilliant on its own. Easily her best work in years.

The last thing we the people need to do is "demand something be done" from their government. That is a bad idea. It is amazing how many fools actually demand further tyrannical control by an entity that no one trusts! People die from being run over by a car, stabbed with a knife, strangled with a hand grip, bashed with a hammer but do we ever hear of "Car Control Now! Knife Control Now! (except in UK), Hammer Control NOW! HANDS Control NOW! It is pointless to focus on the specific instrument used (often in easy kill "gun free zones") rather than the fact that a criminal murdered someone. People seem to forget that murder is already illegal so adding more infringements for those who care to follow laws & who deserve the ability to defend themselves because the mockingbird brainwashing propaganda media selectively chooses to give 24/7 coverage to victims of so-called "gun violence" & if you watch closely, it would appear many of these events are fake, staged hoaxes (like Sandy Hoax) & the "survivor/witnesses" display duper's delight, laugh & many are crisis actors. Also interesting is I saw an interview where Madonna said she would not remove guns from a performance & she even said the 100% accurate statement: guns don't kill people, people kill people. She needs to make up her mind.

Thanks for giving us such an honest review - really glad your opinion has changed about the song. For me, this video demonstrates just how intelligent and brave Madonna is. She's giving us a disco song with a profound underlying message which relates to all of humanity. This is what sets Madonna apart from other singers and makes her a true ICON in my opinion. While I don't live in America, I feel like I want to help to bring about gun reforms in some way.

I actually love the song's arrangements. It starts out slow with the haunting choir and then kicks into disco bliss. And the "hustle" chorus is very clever and catchy. Madonna does it again. Her courage and care for human lives are incomparable.

From the on set I knew this was a powerful message. Listening to the album in full had summarised my feelings on what is happening to us all in 2019. The real nightmare that is just around the corner. Yet there is hope and love in the middle of it all.
God Control is a symbol for the confusion and evil that we are all experiencing and will continue to live in if people don't stand up and fight for what is right. Guns are not a symbol of freedom of choice but of hate and murder.
I had noticed that many bloggers, reviewing Madame X, have all commented on the obvious, i.e. the eclectic and quite eccentric production of the album as its crazy compared to other Madonna albums but in all honesty, it represents the craziness of the times we are living in and the political message the artist is trying to communicate to us all.
Madonna has always written to express the vibe of the times that she/ we are living in. I have been there from the very first album so its very obvious to me and to many of her hardcore fans. Its a pity that radio stations that cater for the 18 to 35 year old are not wising up to her amazing messages now within her music...…….I am sick to death of mediocre pop like Taylor Swift...….No message nor real substance. MADONNA is not old or irrelevant. The album went to number one in 60 countries and the top of charts for a reason. She is beyond icon status.

i was on the verge of tearing by the end of the video. in australia we introduced strict gun laws since the port arthur massacre in '96, and it is frustrating and saddening to read about one mass shooting after another in america with no change to gun control. i liked the song from the beginning but this video brought it to a new level. i'm thankful that madonna continues to highlight very important and very real issues such as this through her art.

this MV is brilliant. it tells all in a RANDOM order. really need a good attention to get all the meanings. at near the end we can see that the Madonna who is going to a party had seen the news on Tv about the shooting and she had no idea that she was gonna get killed that night. it means that everyone can be a victim of gunshooting! the 1st time I saw this MV, I kept on pause and play it. made me stop and think. that Madonna has been continuously speak up about humanity. Why Is It So Hard, Pray For Spanish Eyes, American Life, etc. she has so many hidden gems that most people dont see. she continues to empower people!
about the music itself, this is also brilliant! it doesnt have/ follow the usual patterns : verse, chorus, bridge, etc. the singing at the beginning (slow song) and also the singing the beginning (and later on) of the disco, are not repeated anywhere again in the rest of the song. the slow song at the beginning also becomes the spoken lyric later on. the strings arrangement in some part also shows chaotic vibes. WOW, just brilliant! some might think that this is just a disco song. but all aspects come together to form a STRONG MEANING!

I actually think the album track without the overlay of the dialogue and gun effects is more daring and cohesive, as it requires the audience to put the pieces together, which is the mark of great art. For example, you seeing Madonna do the hustle and "understanding" the song better now perhaps isn't right. The hustle she's talking about in the song isn't the dance but rather the political and business apparatus keeping guns readily available. That's why she follows it with "it's a con." With or without the brilliant video, the song is fucking brilliant on its own. Easily her best work in years.
