i-shift is very good, rarely have to use man mode, only when you cant have any gearchanges on icey hills and so on. it also lack a crawl gear and thats a problem when very hevy and starting at a steap grade.
i like i always said its not the hp that get you up the hill its the torque. Every time i read and add or talk shop is they say "i have to ask at what torque?
Company I worked for had a Volvo F16 with 2.5 million km on it with NO work but service done to the engine gearbox and driveline. Was Used to cart 72 tonnes of ore in harsh Nordic condition so not sure why you think they they wouldn't last longer.

Volvo uses I shift also on it's trucks in sweden and with really heavy loads 750 HP for 90 metric tons.......

we here in Europe don't have this type of volvo trucks ,but I think that this type of technology of volvo north america is better than european market
