Johan de Meji is going to be our guest conductor for our concert this month and my band is playing this song with him! It's beautiful and I can't wait to meet the master behind the music!
My high school band went to the Netherlands for a music festival when I was a freshman, and we were going to play this piece, and we were told Johan de Meij was going to be at the concert! The whole band screamed! But it turned out he had scheduling conflicts and couldn't make it after all. Darn.
@@mousenomiatadpole6437 It's been a couple of years for me now, but from what I remember of him, he was very sweet and a little eccentric! It was awesome to get to play his own music with him. I wish you could have met him too, but at least you got the chance to play an amazing song!
@@allisonavery7273 I played this my freshman year, too, and I was a flute player. The repetition of parts didn't matter to me - it was just being in the middle of all that incredible music, being a part of it, contributing to it. That was the most thrilling thing. I do miss playing flute.
Finally got a first trombone part after months of only having a second for our 4 person section to share and I gotta say, that high B Flat at R is a bit daunting but I bet I can handle it
First trombone here. I couldn't have said it any better. I'd also like to rehearsal K. My band director always tells us trombones are the voice of god and need to be heard, and let's just say I make sure of that. The dark tone of the zebra fish is enhanced with the brass splits

I played it freshman year of highschool as a flute and it was phenomenal, it had a very repeated section in the part but it wasn't that bad
