It’s actually a very smart move on there part as all the different melodies can be confusing so facing the other with the same melody can really help stay in time
i dont see any clarinet appreciation so i'll just say his tone, altissimo, and ability to project or blend is totally incredible. all of them are amazing obviously, just wanted to show a little love for my instrument family lol
This melody is an absolute masterpiece. If you close your eyes, you can imagine all sorts of scenarios with people, places, romance, dance or even animals playing. For me, that inspiration is what tells a masterpiece - whether musical or art - from the good and the great.
if you close your eyes listening to his 8th quartet you can hear them fire bombing Dresden. my favorite is listening to the end of his 5th symphony... if you listen carefully you can hear stalin loading his gun behind you.
3:17 as a clarinet player, like this part.. The high note.. *AUUUGHHHHHHH!* GOD ITS SO GOOD! Also props to the flute player astounding performance.. Actually.. Astounding performance to all of them, this piece is repayable for I feel like eternity
What an absolutely exquisite and imaginative orchestration! The colors are astounding as is the totally complimentary ensemble-making. They all feed off of each other! Wow! I want to also point out the exquisite contrapuntal lines running throughout with perfect taste and balance, never obscuring the always-present main melodic line. Also, can we all just stop and relish on Shostakovich's exquisite melodies and harmonies?! He was not just the quintessential avant-garde Russian composer. He could grab your heart and soothe it, too! What a refined taste!
Excellent quality and nigh-theatrical performance. I love the camera angles and the general feeling of this recording. This ensemble deserves more attention.

Is there any sheet music available for purchase for this arrangement? It's so beautiful, and I would really like to be able to play this arrangement with my friends in my band.
Just beautiful sound, execution and passion on all these solos.....bassoon and all of you: flute, oboe, clarinet.....so in tune, vibrant.......great stuff.
Everyone talking about how impressive the bassoon and clarinet are, but the MOST impressive thing in this is the range and intonation this horn player possesses.
I love how you all move around each other with the music! It really does help emphasize all the different roles and gives each part a bit of "solo" time. Lovely and engaging!
i like how each instrument gets a chance to show off/shine with this arraignment! Quartets/Quintets are such a great way to give different instruments chances to stand out they might not get in your average symphonic band
Russian culture is the most underrated of them all. There is a profoundness to its soul that its Western brethren has lost in the last two hundred years.
I rarely leave comments on RUclips but this exhibition it's a wonderful performance of art, excellence, beauty, talent and extraordinary beauty over all the six senses :))) Chapeau! applause!!!!

3 of the most difficult instruments combined and they all did amazing (all five obviously) and wow those soft high notes at the end on French horn... so difficult yet flawless
Each instrument is harder in something than others, if i would have to agree in a very hard instrument to learn its trombone bc its u have to be able to do harmonics + exact positions, the rest is ofc hard to learn and master but it always depends how far u want to go and progress

The wonder of waltz
It's called theatrics. Maybe I have made that word up, but I used it in the past.
When the oboe and bassoon came together it was beautiful. It was like to siblings coming together
It’s actually a very smart move on there part as all the different melodies can be confusing so facing the other with the same melody can really help stay in time
Bassoon is so underrated. Nevertheless it is one of the most beautiful instruments.
Thank you very much from a bassoonist.

Beatiful music makes every instrument sound wonderful !! I personally not crazy for the Clarinet but I can get enough for Mozart clarinet concerto.

This melody is an absolute masterpiece. If you close your eyes, you can imagine all sorts of scenarios with people, places, romance, dance or even animals playing.
For me, that inspiration is what tells a masterpiece - whether musical or art - from the good and the great.
I've always imagined it played on an accordion near a Parisian cafe. Waltz in a minor key - absolute musette style.

Such a soothing bassoon. Everything is so incredibly smoooooth
