Without Jobim what would “Bossa Nova” as we know it would sound like? Probably different. A true musician who made his mark during his life.
His music will be thought about for the existence of time.

Once heard Tony say that after "The Girl From Ipanema" he got mail from all over the world.
He said that one letter the post office delivered was simply addressed "Jobim, Brasil".
The letter was delivered to his home.
The post office knew who he was too.
He really got a kick out of that.

This is a nice video. He was, without any doubt, a genius - a man capable of write beautiful melodies one after another. His music is so rich, harmonic and melodically, speaking that be or not you a musician surely will notice a deep musical knowledge flowing so naturally through his songs. Above all he was a man in love with his country. If anyone in interested in more stuff about Tom and his oeuvre, please check his notes being played by the likes of Baden Powell, Ney Matogrosso, Elis Regina and Raphael Rabello. It is well worth listening.

In one way, brasil was not kind to many of its brilliant musicians: I can think of one who was “invited to leave” when the military was running the country. But, in another way, it is a wonderful place for creating and working with other musicians. Every single moment in NYC must be used to somehow pay rent. But, in brasil, seeing family (often !) and eating beans and rice and salad and not paying EVERYTHING to a landlord, you can relax enough to play and work out some tunes. And you’ll make friends: real ones. Brazilian people are so so friendly.

Tom foi gravar nos Estados Unidos. Teve disco lançado lá. Os gringos ficaram loucos.
