    The hardest part for me was finding out that I don't actually have any real friends. Once I stopped drinking I found out I pushed all the people that cared about me away while I was going out and partying. I havnt been able to find any people my age that don't spend there free time and weekends going out and drinking. It's been over a year now and I've never been so lonely but I'm also not trying to play the victim. I did this to myself and now I have the chance to truly make my life special. Stay strong everyone thats on this journey

    I'm three weeks sober, and I'm so glad I ran across your channel. I really resonate with you because I have been your average party girl for the past 4 or 5 years of my life. I used to drink very, very hard 3 times a week, and I one day decided to go completely sober, cold turkey. Thanks for sharing your story- it is so inspiring! :)

    My eyes just filled up with tears watching this...I've watched all your other sober videos, but this one hit a corde in my soul. In my early teen years, i entered a bad entourage. Before my 14th anniversary, I went to a party and drank so much that I woke up in a hospital. Alone. And throwing up. My memories from that party are fractured and I only remember some words and lights. I didn't really realize exactly what impact that had on me, and only after a few months it actually hit me. I've lost friends, i've been hurt and backstapped and i remember starting to pray and seek support in religion. Like you, I come from a catholic background. Now, writing this, I am 17. I haven't had alcohol issues since then, but at that age, it gained me a tag. People talking about me, the-not-even-14-yr-old-alcoholic. It's still hard to even think about that period, and your story just moved something in me. I want to say thank you for sharing, for being honest, for helping.

    • @SarahOrdo
      @SarahOrdo  7 лет назад +1

      Absolutely! My relationship started around that age with alcohol as well. It's such an important time if life when you are finally coming into who you are and it is so easy to fall into alcohol. I'm so glad you enjoyed the videos! I am releasing my first book next month on my two years anniversary date, make sure you are subscribed and following so you see when I announce it! :) xo.

    Drank almost every day for 6 months straight. I drank beer wine and pure alcohol. I handled my alcohol very well and people never knew I was drunk. I’ve blacked out once when I was sleeping I woke up in my makeup chair pissing myself smfh.I havnt been drinking for that long but the affects hit me hard last week. Pure anxiety induced hell. My whole body’s nerves feel on fire. I get hot and cold flashes, im jittery and have to walk around. I cant even eat food. Im going through it and never want to touch alcohol again. I didnt need it to survive I just enjoyed drinking Too much and my body became dependent. Pray for me 😩

I love being home alone and hearing the songs I wanna play watching the shows on RUclips I wanna play hearing the birds feeling the sunshine I'm in Florida eating what I want maybe it's selfish but we must love ourselves first and always and be happy and he content you are gonna have so many amazing days ahead your sowing so many seeds for your future and everything u said is true be hellbent on sobriety kick its ass and keep this up girl

    I can relate. I have hit bottom too and have been sober for almost 5 months now. A lot has happened already and this isn't my first time struggling to get and stay sober. Things have changed a lot for me, not to mention my ex just broke my heart too. I'm staying sober though

    • @SarahOrdo
      @SarahOrdo  7 лет назад +2

      ugh, breakups are the absolute worst during the beginning of sobriety.. that was what ultimately broke me down during my first year. I was so desperate for someone to just be there during my rough first year and relied too much on the idea of a relationship making everything ok. But on the bright side, it does show you your strength that you go through rough times without turning back to alcohol.

    • @brianmcclean2481
      @brianmcclean2481 7 лет назад +1

      Sarah Ordo yea i was so blindsided too. the girl stayed with me through getting treatment and getting sober and i just thought she was down especially after that. we had a small argument one day and i noticed she was being nitpicky more often then became distant that weekend. It sucks but it will make me stronger and not everyone can handle or deal with you when you get sober, a lot of emotional, mental changes

    • @SarahOrdo
      @SarahOrdo  7 лет назад +1

      Absolutely. I was in a very serious relationship around my 6 month mark and he left me over a text message 3 days before we were supposed to be going on a cruise for my birthday.. talk about blindsided lol I truly believe these things are put in our lives to happen by the Universe, God, or whatever power you believe in to test us. It shows us how strong we truly can be.

    • @brianmcclean2481
      @brianmcclean2481 7 лет назад +1

      Yes, for me it was right before Valentine's Day when I had the reservations made. I know it puts pressure on people during "holidays" to re-evaluate the relationship. It was like wow, at least she didn't do it on Valentines day or soon after. It still sucked and it took a hit to my self esteem but also proves why it's important to stay out of relationships the first year you are sober. It can be way to devastating when you are trying to learn how to live without alcohol again! It's even more annoying because you think you are doing so well by just not drinking, and it's not good enough to some people!

    • @SarahOrdo
      @SarahOrdo  7 лет назад +2

      I couldn't agree more. I thought I needed someone to get through it. But really I needed to get through it on my own because it was my battle and my journey.

    I can relate to you so much. Drank since I was 13-14 until 26. I still don’t know entirely who I am because I have been chemically influenced for so long. Turns out I like being alone and snuggled up in my bed on a Saturday night more than being out at a bar. My friend group also changed since I quit drinking. I used to be the “glue” and would always host parties. Now that I don’t do that anymore, my group doesn’t get together much. Still a long road to go but I don’t regret it one bit! 3 months sober on Oct 9th.

    It’s strange how it was the opposite for me when it came to my friends. Quitting drinking really strengthened ties I had with existing friends as it allowed me to better support myself allowing me to be more involved in their lives. That’s what was the most rewarding part for me (other than completely getting rid of my anxiety).

    I had to come back to this video after relapsing currently. I relate completely and I mean completely to this video. I too have been going through a horrible toxic relationship/breakup. The feeling of betrayal and loss is very real. Anxiety is astronomical but support from my parents is helping after I finally came clean about this horrible habit I have desperately trying to hide. Ready to close all of this negativity as well. Very happy for you! Good for you. Thank you for sharing this, much needed. ♥️

      I have lost friends because of being sober ultimately. It has been upsetting I won't lie. I just keep reminding myself that I need to focus on what is best for me during this time. When you are working so hard on your own self growth, I've realized that you may have to remove things you thought were good things. But in the big picture it is for your own good.. keep the focus on why you are doing this and how it will be bring so much more to gain that what you may lose. :)

    You say youve been abandoned, cheated on etc etc, so it raises the question, did you also have faults which may have led to others behaviors?
    I say this not to be mean, but to be 100% real. I find that, me personally ive not always been the most level headed, friendliest person I can possibly be and I fault myself as well for the ways ppl treat me.

    • @SarahOrdo
      @SarahOrdo  8 лет назад +4

      I put my whole heart into two relationships when I needed someone to be my support system. I chose with my heart and not my head. Maybe that was too much of me to ask of these individuals.. I realize now I needed to find that strength in myself and not in another person. I'm not sure which behavior ever could "lead to" cheating? If someone is unable to be faithful, then they should not be in a relationship, period.

    Well done. It takes an incredible amount of discipline and willpower. I had a similar story. I was the drunk meathead around town on Fridays. I'm finding it difficult to be social. Do you find yourself getting a little stir crazy at times? How do you handle social events?

    • @SarahOrdo
      @SarahOrdo  7 лет назад +1

      It has been almost a year and a half for me now and I am STILL getting used to being social sober. When you've been used to your social life being directly tied to alcohol for so long it is very weird to adjust. YES, I found myself sitting at home on weekends almost uncomfortable just watching a movie by myself.. I've tried to find healthy things to focus and spend my time on. Sober plans.. dinner with friends, going to see a movie, etc. I try to plan little things to look forward to on weekends to avoid feeling like I'm "missing out" since I'm not out partying. I am still able to go to events, even ones with alcohol... that took some time to not feel anxious and feel urges. But you can get there. Make sure you check out my blog at www.soberAF.com I will be putting up a post soon that you will really relate to I think. It's all about learning to be alone and realizing how closely being social was linked to alcohol for me.

    You are an inspiration huni! Can I ask how you manage to get through social situations when everyone's drinking around you? I try to go out with friends and say "right I'm not drinking" but then I'm easily swayed! How can I stop this??? Xxx

    • @SarahOrdo
      @SarahOrdo  7 лет назад +1

      It's definitely strong will power! lol It's funny because I was at a show of a band I love recently and my friend asked me "isn't this award for you? everyone is drinking" and I explained being in big social situations like bars with music is actually easier than smaller situations! Sitting at a table while everyone does a shot but me is the more awkward situation lol I just try to put myself in the mind frame that I don't need the alcohol to have fun & smile. I can be my bright, bubbly self without it. :)

    • @nataliekristie9251
      @nataliekristie9251 7 лет назад

      Sarah Ordo Yeh I totally get that! Once your out and dancing the time just flies so you don't even have time to thinking about heading for a drink! It's the same for me like if we're drinking before we go out thatssssss an issue lol. At the time I'm like yehhhhhh this is a great idea show me the tequila but the next day I'm just like nope nope that wasn't good! 😂 I suffer with anxiety so the next day it definitely takes its toll and my mood changes! I think I need to think to myself will it really be worth it? I can't just go out for a couple, it's actually ridiculous! How are you feeling with Christmas and all the holidays coming up???

    It’s very interesting how some ppl can’t control their drinking when they drink.. every dr*g/substance has a different affect on someone’s brain.
    I can control my alcohol consumption just fine, but that’s prob bc I hate the taste so much. If I liked the taste, it would be a different story I think..
    Anyways - I’m proud of you for taking responsibility for your drinking and becoming a better, healthier person. 🌟❤️
