Add an emergency blanket. Costs 1 dollar, weighs nothing. But when someone gets hurt it can take up to an hour before the mountain rescue is there. An even if it's a just small injury but that prevents them from skiing/boarding it can get very cold while waiting. Also a small roll of tape is good to have.
Great to hear you finally address avalanche safety. I may have missed it, but I haven't yet seen a video where you go into the dangers of avalanches and what safety measures to take. Im sure you take all necessary safety precautions, but as you say yourself, it really isn't apparent in your videos that you're on a face with no or little avalanche risk. I know that I often wondered why you were riding without backpack in what seemed to be backcountry areas. I think it would be nice with a dedicated video explaining all this stuff so kids dont get the wrong idea :)
@@SnowboardProCamp I have been thinking exactly the same thing. I love your videos and watch them regularly, but my wife and I have full avalanche safety gear that we carry almost all the time. Airbag backpack and transceiver are not just for the backcountry, but also when inside the resort and exploring powder pockets between pistes for example. It's currently dumping snow here in Arlberg, Austria and there have been several deaths of people who just took a wrong turn and strayed into avalanche terrain, and one woman who accidentally strayed off-piste and fell head-first into deep snow. Without a buddy and transceivers, death is a serious and avoidable possibility. I think it's quite likely that people who don't know better will see your amazing adventures and try to emulate them (as I do) but be insufficiently equipped and experienced and die as a result. Something like doing a transceiver check at the beginning of your off-piste videos would be a great way to put safety at the forefront of your viewers' minds :)
@@drewhemm7 To be fair to the creator here, Whistler Blackcomb controls off-piste avalanche risks inside the resort boundaries to a much higher extent than European resorts do. They even control some side country terrain (Flute bowl). It's very difficult to take a wrong turn and ski into unmarked, uncontrolled avalanche terrain at Whistler. It's a different risk profile than skiing off piste in Europe. Tree wells are an inbounds risk for sure, but difficult to manage with typical avalanche tools-the buddy system is key in the trees.
Hey Guys! just wanted to thank you for amazing channel. I did turning to both sides and also carving in one session after watching your videos. words can't describe how happy I am. I was stuck for one year and all I could do was going down hill on heels! but I watched your videos last week and used all your advices and tips on Friday and made it perfectly to toes, turnings and carvings! I'm going to work on my speed this Friday. LOVE YOU guys.Warm hugs from other side of the world.
Really recommend the anker powerbanks if you want a solid safe powerbank. Or if you like it slim, Xiaomi actually makes some solid ones. Most importantly, look for type c port feature.
Great setup Kevin. I've got the same backpack and pole. It's super handy to be well equipped on the mountain... however aren't you bothered by the weight sometimes?
Would highly recommend a very small emergency first aid kit with like bandages a wrap, and some hydrogen peroxide and a lighter, helps if u get cut on the slope and you don’t want to go to first aid
Kev my dude. I have been watching your beginners playlist for about 2-3 weeks now and I love what you do. I went snowboarding for the first time today (yesterday) and tried to emulate your “10 skills” beginner video, however I took a different direction. I went from going board straight to heel turn and improved enough on it that I was able to spray from my heel edge. I tried going to my toe edge to link the turn but I kept falling any tips for getting used to going toe edge, despite the unorthodox learning pattern?
I'm no pro or anything but start going down on your toes first, try pointing your board straight, go back to toe even if you can''t straighten it yet and keep trying that just like you did with the heels. Once you got that down, start on toes again and try to straighten and go to heels. Eventually you can work up to going from heels to toes.
hey kevin i was wondering on the gopro do you have to take that door off to plug the mic into it? and if so is it still water proof/sealed when you have the mic plugged in? i am imaging snow getting getting into the ports
Hey Kevin, hope all is well with you, brother! Was curious why you don’t use a camelpack water pouch in your backpack? I just got a smaller version of that bag and was wondering if there was a reason you didn’t use the a camelpack with it?
I carry a camelbak hydration pack thats fits like a vest bc that backpack you have looks to big to carry while im riding no im not weak but godamn who needs a backpack that big lol I carry cliff bars, frog fuel (a protein type deal it is a gel), flashlight, band aids, and a little burton type deal with a multi tool. and thats all I carry

what microphone is that on top of the gorpro? is that the videomicro? do you use that when filming riding or just for filming during talking head/shots with vocal audio???
Word bro, good to know. I'm just trying to get my filming setup dialed for next season's laps. And the audio during your guy's riding shots seems perfectly fine without an external mic. Thanks for replying, hit me up if you guys make it down to Washington!
do you ride park with your backpack? im thinking about getting one of those protector backpacks but im scared because i read somewhere that it puts you off balance
so i’ve been snowboarding for a while and never wore a hood but now i got a new jacket with a hood i could put on and take off so do you think the hood is something i should wear or not?
That all depends on how cold you get and how much good the hood is. I tried riding with necktubes for a while but they're too tight for me and always slip down and if not I fog up my goggles. And in most conditions at least for me a hood or even a neckwarmer is far too warm. But that's all down to your personal preference and how quickly you overheat.
