First it is important to know that his name isn't officially "Pim Tool." This is a name used colloquially by many people but not most and it certainly isn't official.
Michael Kemper not cool. Ableism is a core tenant of conservative and right rhetoric, but most important their thinking. To recreate that just hurts the people targeted by it, disabled people, and not Pim Tool.

You’re the second left tuber I’ve seen sun up Tim Pool as “incurious”. It’s such an accurate and poignant insult against a man who sells himself as an independent journalist. I can’t believe I fell for his nonsense for awhile in high school.
Highschool is a time of development, and these people target those age groups knowingly. Don't feel bad that you fell for propaganda, it's designed to make you fall for it.
I work for a Swedish company, spend a lot of time in Malmo and have a lot of colleagues and friends who live in Malmo. Many of them agree that the influx of refugees led to more crime because there wasn't really the social infrastructure to handle so many coming at the same time. It's the same as any influx of socially and economically disadvantaged people. All but one of them think it's a short-term issue and the solution is to support their integration into Swedish society. None of them think that there are no-go areas in Malmo. The idea of no-go areas in Malmo is, quite frankly, laughable.
no go zone is never been an area where you "cannot go", it is an area where police, firemen, ambulence and press, cannot do their work without being attacked under certain conditions . In most cases you can live with this, but one day you are in need for the police or ambulance and they're being attacked!
After six years of Melbourne, Australia, I moved to Gothenburg, Sweden. The difference between "we build houses so that we can rent them to other people" and "we build houses so that people can live in them" is an abyss. Melbourne, winter: 10 C outside, 10 C inside. Gothenburg, winter: -13 C outside, 20 inside. More in general, housing standards in Sweden are pretty high. So yeah, how dare the poor have access to dignified housing?
there's historical reasons why housing standards are pretty high here. it's because workers have been unionizing for the past 100 years. and upper class people getting upset that working class people in 1880-1940 lived with many children and renters in small dirty apartments so diseases were easily spread. (it was the diseases easily spread part that they didn't like, especially kolera and tuberculousis.) and most houses didn't have plumbing, people collected poop in buckets and poop retrieval workers would go and pick them up. in the 1700s, this didn't even exist in stockholm, people would just pour out their poop buckets on the streets. (i don't think anyone today can imagine the smell) in the 1930s, the housing inspection was established to inspect people's houses and apartments and teach the inhabitants to take care of and clean their living quarters. this wasn't an new thing either, this idea of "teaching" working class people what their homes should be like and look like is dates back to the 1880s, when sweden had "health policing". the historical reasons for this are both upper class people wanting to curate the perfect swedish race(race biology was the biggest thing during this period), and well-meaning people who wanted to stop the spreading of diseases. and this is still, today in modern 2019, a thing in sweden! today we have something called "boendestödjare"(i don't know how to translate this) who are people whoose job it is to help people take care of their homes, report to the landlord any malfunctions and help with cleaning and buying food. most commonly people who need this are neuro atypical people, physically or mentally ill people, and drug addicts. but today this isn't a mandatory policy, you have to contact your municipality to get it. But one thing is still obligatory, when you sell your houses you have to hire an inspector to check the conditions of your house before you sell it. so the reason why housing looks so nice in poor areas in sweden is because of the government intervention policy for the past 140 years. it's a part of my country's history both for good and bad reasons, but has led to people in all parts of society living in at least decent housing and living conditions. there are still exceptions, but less so than in other countries.
I am totally on board with the sensible housing for all plan. Been promoting that for years. But I'm curious, how well do they retain heat when a grenade blows the walls out? Seems that there are now enough examples of that to draw a fairly accurate report from.
@@klisterklister2367 Thats soo great, i knew there was a reason behind the small or non existent homeless people in Sweden and other Scandinavian countries, along with no "ugly" scary looking neigborhoods, because when houses and neigborhoods are nice and pleacent, peoples feel happier and more secure so violence and insecurity goes down. One question, Its only curiousity: this thing about "cleanes and purity" has something to do with eugenics? I once read that eugenics were a really comon thing in Sweeden till the first half of the 20 century. Never theless, cheers for Sweden. It will be great if you exported those rules and ideas to the rest of the world instead of Ikea. Hope to visit you Socialist Valhalla some day.
The cynic in me is just seeing this as Americans trying to understand that in Europe, particularly the richer countries, people generally aren’t getting murdered on every corner or at school
I’ve lived in the “worst” part of Malmö, rosengård as a Swedish girl and not once did I feel unsafe. I met some of the nicest people there, I couldn’t even shop groceries without someone coming up to hold them for me and carrying them to my door, for example. People were so nice and helpful. I didn’t have one bad experience the whole time I lived there. I forgot the key in my door multiple times, nothing happened. I was never harassed or a victim for a crime. That’s just my personal experience but calling it a no go zone is just ridiculous. Unfortunately the majority of people getting hurt is people who are involved in gang crimes which is very sad. I’m not knowledgeable enough to dispute or agree with crime rates but I think we need to have more compassion for the refugees and understand that it’s going to be tough road for them to feel at home here and to just meet them with hate and generalisation is not going to solve any problems. I would love to hear what you think of the recent book burnings in Sweden as I live in the city that it happened in.
@JohnnyTheWolf I'm not fully sure if I'm completely honest. It's just what Thanos said in Infinity War. "The universe is finite, it's resources finite". If Thanos is correct on that then that's where the conversation ends, but I don't think it's established outside of his ideology. It could be true, but I don't think it's been demonstrated anywhere.

Great video! A few details from a Swede: Fortunately, here in Sweden we don't have a law against loitering yet. But I don't think it would've been graffiti though, the cops consider graffiti high priority. Far higher than assault if the victim is poor, at least in my experience, having had contact with police in both contexts. Also, about the niceness of the apartment: Slums aren't nearly as common here as in the US. I live in a cheap apartmen and my income is at about 70% of the poverty line, and I also have hardwood floor in one of the rooms. It's very common in apartments from the great building projects of the 70's; one room with hardwood, the rest plastic, sometimes tiles in the bathroom.
"we hear the sirens that was pretty scary" Meanwhile in my low income neighborhood that recently ousted a slumlord for renting condemned buildings I hear sirens more nights than I don't. My boyfriend and I have a running joke that whenever we hear gunshots he goes "oh its just the neighbor, keeping property values low" But yeah its just, it's just Sweden having too many refugees. Rather than the effects of poverty on crime rates.
Yeah that is so weird to me. I hear way less sirens now, living just over the crest of the hill from the “bad” part of town and along the very street ambulances take to the hospital two blocks away, than I did living in the “bad” part of the city next to this one. This is an exceedingly safe location. I have walked around just fine at 3 in the morning, and I would walk around at night in the other city too, but there I was playing “firecracker, gunshot, or engine backfire” weekly, and couldn’t approach the main road because it was too dangerous from people who refuse to pay attention to the speed limit.
I saw this when I was curious about Pim Tool. What I got from it was that this neighborhood was slightly more dangerous than most in Sweden, but safer than most cities in the US. And that Pim is a major Tool.
@Nuklear Scorpio It was a joke in reference to the beginning of this video in which the creator of the video made a throwaway joke about being his dad.

@@cfryantofficial It rarely happens but has happened on a few occasions. One of the most notable incidents happened last year when the intended victim in an organized crime-dispute managed to run away and the killer shot and killed his wife instead while she was holding their baby. This one was seen as such a heinous act it was condemned even from within the criminal enviroments. Furthermore a couple of times in recent years the police have been unable to link victims of gun violence in the streets to any criminal activity and suspect it might have been cases of mistaken indentity. And ten or so years back we had our very own nazi riding his bike and shooting at random immigrants. In those cases it took the police a while to figure out that it wasn´t gang related in any way and when they finally caught him he went to jail for life for two murders and a handful of attempted murders. "There was a murder some time ago." "Did any other crime happen?" "There was a loud firecracker" Oh no! I can't even imagine going to a place where they are using loud fireworks. Truly a no-go zone. You know, American conservatives are sooo obsessed with European no-go zones. I don't understand why, cause I am pretty sure the average crime rate in European countries is lower than in the US. What's so interesting about crime here? I know a few 'bad' places in my own city, and I can safely walk there during the day. At night I'd be a bit nervous but I could still walk there if I must. Now, I am pretty sure I can't do that in the 'hoods' of a city like LA. So what is the obsession with mildly unsafe areas in Europe? Really puts me off.
Americans tend to hold up some European countries as examples of liberalist democracies or socialism at work (depending on your leanings). Seeing the flaws, however slight, is a good way for conservatives to go “Look! They’re secretly awful! And evil!” And sometimes, they can even blame it on the same things they claim are emerging “problems” in the U.S., like immigrants.

The right has been very good at using pop-culture to spread their ideology. Some of the biggest channels on RUclips around comics and movies basically just spew right-wing talking points, "The Left is destroying Star Wars!" It's been pretty effective for them. Sam and others should pay more attention.
Tim Pool, so excited that he's about to stick it to Sam: I'll tell you something you don't wanna hear; Utilitarianism is the villain in most movies! Sam Seder at his most apathetic: I don't care. lmfao, that clip never gets old!
@Dave Cook I watched the whole fucking interview with Sam, hence the "it never gets old" It was one of the dumbest fucking rhetorical tactics I had ever witnessed and it continues to flood my brain with dopamine at very the thought of it. Kinda weird that you're getting in to Tim Pool in 2021 considering he's bent over backwards in the past few years to actively demonstrate that he is indeed a grifter, but I'll let you have your thing and I'll try not to gloat when you inevitably come to that conclusion on your own.
@Dave Cook For a career I do literary analysis. "MCU villains are utilitarian" is not only not-helpful, it's not accurate. That's not how one approaches or interacts with philosophy in an honest manner, and there is no analysis ever that would expand into a philosophical scope. It's ultimately not-helpful, because there are enough takes in philosophy that someone will jump in and carve a corner case about how such-and-such character ISN'T utilitarian because it ignores the basic premise of Kant's "What is good?" approach. The person who appears to be circle-jerking is yourself. Thought Slime's criticisms are in good faith, ad hominem as they are. Those attacks can be ignored because TS's criticisms are backed up by behavior. Honestly? Tim Pool was let of *easy* here. But to admit that there might possibly be a problem with Tim's approach to quote-unquote "journalism" means you have any element of intellectual or emotional honesty outside of "My Conservative tribe good; liberal tribe bad."
@Dave Cook If I picked a cherry and it was as rotten as "You know in made-up stories the bad guys are often utilitarians, how do you respond to that!" I think I'd throw away the whole box instead of diving back in expecting to find a cherry that was actually edible
Watches firt ever video of Thought Slime, looks at background "Hm, must be a ninja turtles fan" Calls someone a Krang brain "Well, he's got my subscribe"
@Dave Cook I used to watch Tim regularly, I independently came to the conclusion that he isn't a leftist and he barely makes coherent arguments. Thought slime is simply lining up his evidence of that fact in a coherent way to make it more obvious because it doesn't make sense to leave in a bunch of garbled nonsense that distracts from his main point, as is done in most essays etc. Sometimes Tim says some clear headed stuff, but that's rare, and usually on nonpartisan issues anyway. That doesn't redeem all the other fear mongering nonsense.
@Dave Cook I don't think we're both right. There are core truths I base my beliefs on such as "life has value" and I don't think you'd necessarily disagree with that concept, but I do think you may be wrong about how you interpret it based on how you seem to agree with some of Tim's opinions that I'd consider potentially destructive or harmful.
I remember that Sam Seder clip; I didn't think Pim could be any denser, but he really tried to draw a correlation between the Left and Thanos...no SocDem or Socialist is proposing an Ozymandias-style massacre. WTF
As a native from Barcelona who lives in Sweden I can assure you you are 100x more likely to be robbed in any touristic place in Barcelona than in Rosengard or Rinkeby.
"Thanos was a utilitarian." Alright. But what does that say about Utilitarianism? More importantly, how did Movie Thanos' Utilitarianism inform his actions as a character? Because killing off half of sentient life, ergo erasing their pleasure/happiness, to increase the potential happiness of others is not even in line with the most extreme and volatile Utilitarian. How can you increase net happiness in the people of the world by killing off 50% of people? You can't, that's not how the philosophy works.
He's even wrong about comic movies... Thanos intends to kill literally half of all life, how is he saving "Thousands of Trillions" while killing "Hundreds of Trillions"? Also, the word for "thousands of trillions" is quadrillions
He also has near unlimited cosmic power. Instead of making more for everyone, so everyone would have enough, he killed half the universe. This is like having two people in a room with one cup of coffee and killing one person instead of making more coffee.
Can't decide whether or not this will be my new go-to link when idiots try to claim that Tim Pool is unbiased. How the hell did we get to a place where people seem to think that 'biased' means 'anything I disagree with'?
I mean no one actually thinks that. He has said multiple times and proven he is left leaning, but absolutely no one thinks he is "unbiased" he's gets called right wing by people on the left and left wing by people on the right. Good try though. I do find it annoying that he keeps saying he is a "milk toast fence sitter" when in fact he isn't.
I remember a guy I knew was sounding off about how a specific city was "boring" based on the single afternoon he'd spent there on a field trip in the 8th grade. I responded by listing off all sorts of places and events that are fun and interesting in that city... because I lived there from birth until I was 20. He told me that meant I was "biased." Because I had lots and lots of information and he had almost none. (for the record, I don't work for the tourism board in the city I grew up in, the only way I might be considered "biased" by pointing out there are fun things to do there)
Just wanted to pop in and say thank you for this video's Eyeball Zone. Tim Pool is the exact personification of what’s wrong with the conservative views on immigration in Sweden. As a swede: these views are so mainstream at this point that it’s incredibly worrying.
I think the problem is not conservative views on immigration, which have always been around, its the willingness of liberals to play along with the whole premise that "immigration is a problem to be dealt" with and not an opportunity to get to know new people and expand our horizons.

@@neilmoore7194 I think the left in the USA too often falls into right wing talking points without realizing it. The thing is, there are so many injustices in the world that completely contradict all of our principles and that should make us furious. Anger is also very useful for motivating people. I lived in Rosengård for about 8 months. :) It was the first time I lived alone and I really enjoyed it. The major downside to the area is how long it takes to get to the city centre by bus, because they're not super frequent compared to everywhere else. I may have to stop watching this because I'll get too pissed off. I literally paused after a second or two into the first Malmö clip. I think I used to get the bus on Ramels Väg. Have you heard about Yalla Trappan? The catering company run by Muslim women. Actually a womens' collective. I watched a documentary about it at my friend's cinema on Norragrängesbergsgatan, seems like a beautiful little initiative run out of Rosengård. I am so sick of Pim Tool already.
I'm from England, by the way; not Swedish. Basically everywhere in Sweden is relatively safer than other places. The fact that Americans talk about no-go zones in Sweden is laughable. It's a boring country where very little happens. I say this as a compliment, and to counter the idea that it's a scary or deadly place to be. Most Swedes would laugh at that. (And in case anyone comes along saying "but look at this article about this crime!" - it's not like crime is nonexistent, that would be absurd. Everywhere has crime.) I'm saying I lived alone for the first time in Rosengård and I felt safer than I did when I lived in Köln in an apartment with a big-boned tall guy and actually experienced a break-in while I was lying in bed at 7am with the window shutters down while home alone on the first day of carnival, which caused PTSD that makes it hard to sleep now. It would still be disingenuous for me to warn people away from Köln; I love the place, and I miss living there. I didn't experience anything close to that in Malmö. I just got very, very bored from the lack of excitement.
Oh hey! That clip just before he meets the mayor is the street I used to live on after that I think. Norra Vallgatan. The irony is *that's* where there was a bomb threat the day that I moved in, in the city centre, the prosperous part of the city. So uh, be wary of wealthy areas, I guess.
*And another thing* - the bit about him standing in the car park of some nondescript building (I can't tell where that is) having just heard from some people that a crime was experienced... Swedish people... don't do that... Swedish people aren't very publicly social or extroverted. This is a generalisation but like... it's kind of very widely accepted that it is absurdly difficult to meet people in Sweden as an immigrant. People tend to feel uncomfortable by public interaction with strangers. I really highly doubt (if it wasn't obvious enough from the way he worded his way around saying anything concrete) that anyone *came up to him* or engaged in conversation with him. Also, if they did, why not film it and blur/obscure them and their voices? At least get some actors in.

(it was the diseases easily spread part that they didn't like, especially kolera and tuberculousis.)
and most houses didn't have plumbing, people collected poop in buckets and poop retrieval workers would go and pick them up. in the 1700s, this didn't even exist in stockholm, people would just pour out their poop buckets on the streets. (i don't think anyone today can imagine the smell)
in the 1930s, the housing inspection was established to inspect people's houses and apartments and teach the inhabitants to take care of and clean their living quarters. this wasn't an new thing either, this idea of "teaching" working class people what their homes should be like and look like is dates back to the 1880s, when sweden had "health policing". the historical reasons for this are both upper class people wanting to curate the perfect swedish race(race biology was the biggest thing during this period), and well-meaning people who wanted to stop the spreading of diseases.
and this is still, today in modern 2019, a thing in sweden!
today we have something called "boendestödjare"(i don't know how to translate this) who are people whoose job it is to help people take care of their homes, report to the landlord any malfunctions and help with cleaning and buying food. most commonly people who need this are neuro atypical people, physically or mentally ill people, and drug addicts. but today this isn't a mandatory policy, you have to contact your municipality to get it.
Think of the rich!
What’s weird is my parents think Melbourne also has no-go zones because of African gangs.
I don’t think they exist.

We just have capitalist systems and inequality up the ass that prevent us from getting what we need to everyone who needs it. Costs fuckings fractions of a penny to produce medicines... Yet companies charge 25-50 bucks a pill. We have starving people in many parts of the world... Yet we often throw out food because it spoiled... We can send a team into space with a ship full of advanced tech that actually feeds them and keeps them alive for years. That tech is only getting better too as we keep discovered more ways to move forward...
Overpopulation my ass lol. Being a asshole with no empathy for others is the problem here...
The right has been very good at using pop-culture to spread their ideology. Some of the biggest channels on RUclips around comics and movies basically just spew right-wing talking points, "The Left is destroying Star Wars!" It's been pretty effective for them. Sam and others should pay more attention.

That's what Thanos would think x0
Pim Tool is for dim fools
Not to be a stickler, but his name isn't Tim -- it;s actually Pim. Many people are saying it, anyway.

WTF

"Thanos was a utilitarian."
Alright.

Also, the word for "thousands of trillions" is quadrillions

I think both play a significant roll, since our most famous Conservative party has managed to elect members from previous nazi parties that advocate for a second holocaust; while also being an extremely popular group in voting.
