      No, because that's still an inherently politically motivated decision.
      If you (HYPOTHETICAL you) decide not to do anything about an issue like climate change and global warming, you're making the conciencious choice to not do something about the issue of the Earth literally dying. Your silence admits that you don't see it as an issue worth your time. The decision not to be involved is an inherently political decision because you've ultimately stated, "This is not an issue for me".
      And that's where the lack of involvement being the lack of an opinion will always trip up. The implications of your actions speak volumes about your priorities, and so too does any non-action. What you will and will not consider a priority worth engaging with and dealing with when in regards to politics IS a political opinion, no matter how little you actively engage in voting or signing petitions for bills.

    • @briekepsiom92
      @briekepsiom92 4 года назад +1

      @Βασιλης Οικονομιδης
      Apply it to yourself if you feel so inclined. Just remember that it's still a political choice.
      Very little of the choices that you make in government policies are apolitical, and like this video stated, what is neutral is still political because the idea of political neutrals are inherently contentious.
      Things with elements of politics are political, and the politics don't even need to be overt. Media can have incredible influence on people, even if it's fictional media, and often is rooted in politics and themes about them.
      How we view the world and what we think society should be, how we value people will root in politics. The art we enjoy or consider worthy of meaning is political as well. Even science gets political. Politics are in most things.
      It sounds like a propagandist phrase, but, you can't really escape politics. And while the word TECHNICALLY can be used and while things can in THEORY and without context be considered apolitical, the context, reality, and practice is what matters.
      "Some things don't need to be political", or, "it's not THAT political, you're making mountains out of molehills", are common phrases in this case, but they feel more like Ben Shapiro's, "let's say, let's say" arguments than anything else. Because the thought experiment while, in theory, sounding neutral and agreeable, is a pure hypothetical. It negates the real-world factors that would make this simple "political, apolitical" binary all the more incorrect and potentially even dangerous.

The whole point of "centrism" is shifting the acceptable range of opinion to the right by insisting on approaching extreme right doctrines seriously and respectfully while ridiculing anything solidly leftist as inherently ridiculous.

      @@misterdemocracy3335 normally you roll a d20 (basically just a 20 sided dice) and add your characters dex modifier (typically somewhere between -2 and +5 when starting out, if it's a negative you subtract instead of adding). D20's are incredibly common among d&d players, they are needed for like half the rolls. The dex modifier is determined based on your characters dexterity stat (determined based on character creation, plus any modifiers from equipment or magical bonuses or some other kind of bonuses. The modifier part comes from taking a supposed average of 10 where 11-12 is +1, 13-14 is +2, 15-16 is +3, etc. 8-9 is -1, 6-7 is -2 etc.).
      I realize this sounds incredibly complicated and obtuse but it's actually pretty easy to get used to. Honestly, if you're interested at all but unfamiliar with the rules, my recommendation is just jump into it with a group with at least one friend. Just have the friend teach you as you go. Be willing to roleplay and just try to learn the rules as you go, the roleplaying is way more important than the rules.

      And in the case of self-proclaimed "centrists", the constant need to view themselves as "reasonable" makes them particularly prone to giving concessions so as to be "fair" and means they very quickly cease to *be* centrist. It's how "why won't you debate me bro?" becomes seen as a legitimate political query when discussing actual harm to actual people that is actually happening.
      The trend is particularly problematic if the default assumption of the political system you're in is that you have to pick between one of two evils anyway. The way it's used here equates people living in tribal systems to savages, and also gives credence to the notion of savage people, which is a myth born, as far as modern times are concerned, from white dudes observing customs they did not comprehend.
      The intro of the wiki on "Tribe" is enlightening: "The term tribe is used in many different contexts to refer to a category of human social group. The predominant usage of the term is in the discipline of anthropology. The definition is contested, in part due to conflicting theoretical understandings of social and kinship structures, and also reflecting the problematic application of this concept to extremely diverse human societies. The concept is often contrasted by anthropologists with other social and kinship groups, being hierarchically larger than a lineage or clan, but smaller than a chiefdom, nation or state. These terms are equally disputed. In some cases tribes have legal recognition and some degree of political autonomy from national or federal government, but this legalistic usage of the term may conflict with anthropological definitions."

    I can't help but point out that "Roll Redistribution" makes perfect sense in D&D, and there's even some actual feats that does something essentially identical in Pathfinder. (Including "Socialist" Teamwork Feats that straight up allow initiative roll swapping.) As D&D is a cooperative game, if, say, the wizard gets a low roll on initiative, but the fighter gets a really high one, the wizard might say, "I have a feat that lets us swap initiative. I'll cast Haste on the party on my first round, so if you let me go first, you can start your first round of combat already moving at double speed and not have to use a double move to reach the monster so you can attack on your first round." If the other player agrees, that's not "crazy welfare gibberish", that's "playing D&D intelligently." It *KIIIIINDA* undermines the notion that these are some "crazy liberals" saying "crazy liberal stuff" if the "rational centrist" DM is just whining about perfectly valid gameplay, especially when the players are cooperating and would be functioning cohesively as a team to do so.

But i won't do anything to actually help them feel like themselves, because my perception of their gender is far more important than their own identity, and i don't want to be forced to use their pronouns and actually show respect for them."

    In France we've got a say that goes: " centrism, that means not from the left and neither from the left".
    Btw raising the taxes for the wealthiest isn't a socialist idea if you consider that the these people wouldn't have a place in a socialist society.

      @@rhyscooper3693 it means that when you say you are a centrist you are not from the left and not from the left, here you would expect not from left and not from right. But when discard the leftist ideas from the spectrum of your apprehension of the politic then position yourself in the middle of what remains you will tend center right. Centrist is an utopian position born of rejecting social conflic. But our society and politic is the materialisation of the conflict between persons, groups and classes, so saying people should find a middle ground is in a way denying the oppressions already happening (poverty, racisme, sexism, ...). So if you search for a middle ground without thinking about these oppression you will tend right no matter how moderate you want to be, no matter how peaceful you want the society to be.
      I hope it's clearer now (I quite doubt it), these are difficult concepts, hard to explain even harder to explain in English (being a native French speaker)... And I also don't pretend to have understood them deeply enough already.

The liberal group may try to find a more kind ruler or even to have a more democratic system by trying to convince the other nobles but not think about the economics of the place.
