Wow, 1960, I was 17 and just joined the Air Force. I don’t remember the toggle but then my wages were $98.00 a month so the $1.95 was more my style. Great going down memory lane, thanks Ken. May your blades be sharp & your soap slick😎 Al
The weather here in florida been up and down 74 -78 the 82 -83 then back to 64 and their a sickness going around to! ppl including myself been cought sour throat all over and dripping nose that goes into ur lungs! but no covid it's weird
Hey Ken! I just purchased a Toggle off ebay that has everthing yours has! The case, instructions, price tag, original blade dispenser still in the celophane wrapper! I had to pay a pretty penny, but it is well worth it being it was never used! It will basically complete my vintage collection. I can't wait for it to arrive! Thanks for bringing yours back out! This was the razor that brought about all the other budget friendly ones like the Fatboy, Slim, Super Adjustable. I figured as time goes by, these iconic razors are going to be more difficult to locate especially in the condition i found mine. You were so correct, be patient and youll eventually find the one you like! Thanks! JimG
Great condition set, Ken! I'd love to add one to my stable at some point. When it comes to vintage Gillettes, I'm all about the English ones. The English Aristocrat shaves better than all my modern CNC razors. those English TTOs have a different head geometry, and shave like a dream. The HD 500 is great as well, and easier to find for a good price.
Ken thanks for showing the toggle again. I have 2 toggles. 1 in original condition and the other was sorta beat up, had it replated by Razor Emporium and they did a beautiful job on it
Had my PSA tested last month, the results are fine, the Movember initiative really works at least for me, and hopefully for many others too. Thanks to you and PaulH for the effort you made with Movember, take care.
I always enjoy watching these shave videos! I have a 1960 Gillette Adjustable Toggle F4 in my collection that was purchased online and was a bit difficult to find due to the price range. It didn't come with its original case or instructions. I've shaved with my Toggle a few times and using a Gillette Blue Blade from the 1970s on setting 3 was a bad combo. While it did shave nice with almost no nicks, there was a bit of stubble left on my face. Either time to use a Feather blade or increase the setting.
Hey Ken. I own two Toggles. I have the Gold F-4, instructions, blade bank and case. Everything is perfect. I don’t believe it was ever used. Cost me plenty. The other Toggle is the F-4 Nickel. I use it occasionally. IMO it shaves much like the Gillette Fatboy. Take care and be safe.
Nice shave. And beautiful razor. I would love to add a toggle to my collection at some point. It would definitely be for those special occasion shaves. Have a great week.
Hey Ken, long time no see. Hope you're doing well. One hell of a setup! Man I miss the sound effects from the old iPhone that you used to play during text overlays. back in the days. I've lost the euphoria for wet shaving a bit in the stress of everyday life, but I think I'll check back more often now and make more of an effort again. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and the ongoing videos.
I had a beautiful toggle with the case/instructions/blades etc. I loved and I miss everything about it except the shave itself. I have great pictures of it. The shave just wasn’t for me. So off it went! I know someone is enjoying it!
Man, shaving videos make me wish we could smell what's being used. Especially for exotic products (that are not available in my country). It's probably for the best, as I'd likely be hooked on more than a few of them and I wouldn't be able to get 'em. Also, glad you took some preemptive skincare. Can't ever be too careful. Thanks for the vid, good sir!
Great shave Ken love the toggle I have a D1 1958 toggle with the original case and blades which I picked up in England I don't have the price tag or the instructions but it is in really nice condition 👍
Nice shave, Ken! Fine Accoutrements Platinum is "inspired by" Aventus...can't personally vouch for how close it is, but it's very nice, and rather more affordable. Sweet Toggle!
Hallo Ken, thank you for the new Shave. Your Gillette Vintage ist Great Ken. I love the Vintage Product . I have a Old Shaving Soap of Old Spice in Mug . I lovly the Soap. The Gillette Vintage Safety Rezors Are Great. Have a Great Day my Friend. Best greetings from Germany 🎄❄️☃️💈💈🪒 11:52
Amazing-looking razor. I have stopped my razor collection with the Henson AL13 Mild and the Karve Overlander aluminum. Both work great. Luckily I don't have Razor Acquisition Disorder (RAD). But I have to admit, it's fun seeing others collecting their gear. I can observe from afar without it straining my wallet.
Very nice one tonight. Eventually i will invest in a nice vintage razor. There are several im interested in. Just gotta decide lol. Again, great shave.
Hi Ken, it's a shame we can't post photo's on the comments. I'm in the UK and I too have a Gillette Toggle with box and it has never been used and I know I will never use it.
@@BrianMiller1973 Matt from Razor Emporium explained that it would just be too cost prohibitive because Gillette no longer has the old machines that were used to make those razors and it would cost millions of dollars to get them back.
I need your opinion I use the Baxter of California shave tonic, and I was wondering if I could still use an aftershave balm after applying that or just leave it as is after I spray it. Thank you and happy holidays.
Luxury shave right here, nice one Ken 💈 And a new upcoming movie for 2024, is the true story about a dog named Arthur. "Arthur the King" is starring Mark Wahlberg playing Mikael Lindnord, who is a swedish multisport guy. Who travelled to Ecuador to compete in the World Champion a few years ago. And during the race they got followed by a dog, who stayed by there side all the way. And Mikael ended up adopted Arthur back home to Sweden 🇸🇪 where he lived a beautiful life. Mikael has also released two books about Arthur ❤️. 👍
You used the same rational for keeping your beard last year and you kept it longer than you said you would. Sterling Soaps Executive Man and Sharp Dress Man are spot on fragrance profile similar to that of Aventis Creed and of Irish Tweed. Sterling Soaps are 1/8 of the price of Aventis. I had the opportunity to smell them side by side and there was a slight diffidence between the two brands. Aventis does have a longer lingering presence than Sterling.
@@georgemakuca8870can stay there at that price along with a few other's that are extortionatly priced. Plenty of patience for the right razor to turn up at the right price at the right time 😊
Definitely not cheap back then but still a better bargain than a lot of the artisan razors today which run anywhere from $200-400. The engineering and gold plating on this razor would probably fetch almost $500 today if I had to guess
Please correct me if I’m wrong, the commercials from the 50’s and 60’s would advertise a can of shaving foam for $1.00. That would be around $8-10 bucks a can, today, a can of foam is around $2.00. You could also get shaving cream for about 60 cents around that time period.
