I'm sorry, but in my 26 years of being a disabled quadriplegic, this man is just being lazy, in my opinion! He could be in a manual wheelchair and get himself into a hand-driven car with gas and steering done by his hands instead of using Electronics. He's just got way too much money on his hands, and his occupational therapist and his equipment dealer, AKA rehab specialist, know this, so they're spending his money, and he doesn't care!

All cars should be driven with joysticks. Steering wheels are outdated technology and are dangerous in a front on crash, esp if one is not wearing a seatbelt.
Agreed, steering wheels have caused some nasty injuries, but air-bags and 'collapsible' wheel designs have reduced the serious injuries. However, this set-up looks far more dangerious. In a head-on collision, with anything, I could see this steering head impaling the drver. . Mind you... Everyone should wear a selt-belt or harness, unless driving an open-top jeep with no roll cage, or a quad, in both cases, but certainly the latter, a helmet would be a safety imperative.
That steering hub could cause lethal damage if faced with a collision/heavy breaking scenario. There should at least be a moulded cushioned (expanded foam?) 'spinner' covering the steering head. If that incorporated an airbag too, so much the better.
seems like a really bad setup. No Airbag. No Wheelchair clamps/hold downs . Also what would happen in a hard/emergency braking situation? The driver would be thrown forward pushing further on the joystick!
Seatbelt? That steering hub looks awfully threatening, especially in a collision scenario.
i think a driving wheel cut having only the airbag will be better no .....plus you HAVE an airbag
I mean... He's already paralyzed. I think quality of life might be a higher priority than perfect safety at that point.
@@cadenhood seatbelts are designed to stop death occuring during car accidents. Not just to atop people being paralyzed.
Pretty sweet. Looks dangerous though with no seatbelt and no Airbag.
How much to install in a 14 challenger R/T

Looks like it’s push for brake and pull for acceleration does that make it confusing when it’s the opposite of your wheelchair?

Mercedes-Benz and Saab made concepts out of this idea. They didn't catch on for a reason.

I swear old people be getting the coolest stuff!
Who says it's only for old people?
Nothing to do with age. This system is for people who can’t operate the steering wheel and standard control systems.
