Jesper Kyd’s soundtrack is a masterpiece in this game. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve listened to “Apocalypse” , those final drums… goosebumps. “Rocky Mountains” is the reason I would go guns blazing in some missions. And the game is amazing, I always come back to play this on my ps2 from time to time.
The amount of reviews you've posted, the professionalism and thoroughness they display, and the sprinkling of great humor. This channel is a gem. Been binging through a bunch of your videos and just wanna leave my two cents and compliment here for ya. Cheers man, you're one of the best on the platform.
Blood Money was by far my favorite Hitman game in the entire franchise. Even more than the most recent trilogy. The music was excellent, as was the mix of different levels. But that ending SPOILER. . . . or I should say fake out ending was one of the best moments I have experienced in all gaming, with Ave Maria playing as you shoot your way out of your own funeral. Classic.
Don’t think I’ve played any game as much as Hitman Blood Money. Such a fun and easily accessible game. Decently sized sandboxes that leave room for a ton of dynamic gameplay. Even to this day if I’m bored and wanna fuck around in a game for a few minutes I’ll play the level “A New Life”. Still discovering new approaches 10 years after I first played it
When it comes to the heavy restrictions on using weapons, I have this to say: can you imagine "Leon: The Professional" not using any guns the entire movie? How about "La femme Nikita"? Life is about making mistakes and carrying-on, not about getting the PERFECT SCORE. 📜💯
If you wanna ease carrying guns around, I suggest taking advantage of a glitch where equiping the detonator of the RU-AP mines while holding a 2-handed weapons will render said weapon invisible to NPCs, so now you can travel around the level with your fave big guns!
Blood Money is such an amazing game. I’m a Hitman mega fan, so I’m a little niche when it comes to the whole thing and I do prefer SA and Contracts, but BM is definitely the best game, and it’s in contention for the best stealth game of all time. Near perfection.
Sa was my first hitman game and it's also the hardest and most jank game out of the og 4. But it was an introduction to an entire new style of stealth gameplay, that made me fall in love with stealth games. But that mission in the mountains....... I dread it whenever I replay it. I liked contracts but other than a slightly better feeling game it kinda fell short being a soft remake of sorts of codename47 imo but it wasn't a bad game by any means. Blood money is my crack.... I adore that game and could probably speed run it saso blind folded I've played it that much. I also love new hitman and think it's the perfect direction for it. I would like to see jasper kyd return at some point to bring back some of the atmosphere of the originals.
This is not a puzzle game. This is a stealth game with puzzle elements at best. You're given mission objectives, and you're free to carry them out as you please.
@@dontspikemydrink9382 In theory you could put all kinds of labels on it, that are only part of the game and gameplay. If you smack ten labels on it, sure, ''puzzle game'' could be one of them. This isn't how we define genres, however. This is above all a stealth game. A game which thrives on you remaining unseen and going under the radar.
I bought Blood Money on a whim back in the day and had so much fun with it I immediately bought Absolution right after. Those remain the only two games in the series I played.
Man do i love blood money. Ive spent countless hours as a kid trying to figure out the best paths. I still remember loving to make sure i collcted my suit and never left a used weapon before the mission was over. Reading the newspapers and seeing the crimes being written about was my favorite. The small Kane & Lynch blurb in one was still enough to make me get that game too. That game was less good than this lol.
And after this game, a pretty long wait until Absolution. (At most you got was the Hitman inspired Death To Spies series which I recommend you take a look at.) I'm curious what you'll think of Absolution, while I dislike the fact alot of the game is A-to-B and the disguise system changes, I do like the basic gameplay changes. (You can now just pick up a second pistol off the ground and start dual-wielding any pistol like C47 for instance.)
I don't have problem with the rating system in the game, the morality system in Dishonored where killing too many people would give you bad ending was way worse
tbf in dishonoured you are literally killing innocent people 95% of the time. the guards are all corvos men who have been fed bad info only the corrupt guys at the top and assassins are "bad" guys
I played this game on PS2. It was well behind the other versions of the game in terms of tech, but the excellent game design shone through. Fantastic game.
One small gripe I had about the way notoriety mechanic works, was the fact that you could buy your way out of it. That basically nullified any effect the mechanic would/could have on your game and the choices you make. The fact that you really didn't need to worry about whether to spend your money buying upgrades or buying off any evidence against you - simply because you could beat the game no problem with zero upgrades - well, it was kind of disappointing. A big missed opportunity - just like Splinter Cell Double Agent's trust meter, it was badly utilized, which is to say it was hardly utilized at all. I just get around it by not buying any evidence, regardless of how I choose to complete assignments, and just buying a handful of upgrades. Still a great game though.
Favorite of the series, wish they would bring back human shields. I emailed IoI about bringing these maps back to the new hitman games, doubt it will happen but one can hope. Be better than getting a reskin every month
A long time ago I had to decide for both Hitman and a Metal Gear solid that I was never going to care about mission rating systems in order for me to play the games the way I like them.
*this game opened my eyes to what's actually possible in a video game....and is one of the reasons I say 2004 through 2011 is the greatest era in console gaming history* 👍
Not really, they are both the same, the difference that in VOA they let you choose to use hints, and other things but its optional and you can always turn it off.
I only played hitman 1 back in the day...and I did not care for it back them. ..your review makes me want to check out blood money .... and discover what is up with the big wheel in the intro ;)
The one thing that always bugged me in this game was, you can't do cool things if you want to get that sweet, sweet Silent Assassin rank. In a game full of fun toys and possibilities, it felt contradicting.
So the steam version is 10 bucks. the iOS/switch version blood money reprisal is 15/30... Hitman WOA is 30 on steam right now.... which one do I pickup?
I wouldn't call the early Hitman series puzzle or stealth exclusively. They're considered "immersive sims" There is some stealth, and puzzle solving, planning strategy.
I love your channel. These retro reviews really bring me back to old video game tv shows we had in Holland. Unrelated to Hitman, but check out The Movies from Lionhead Studios of the same year.
For me this game feels like it's development has been way too rushed because It seems really unpolished. Here are the reasons: -you can't smuggle all these fancy weapons other than WA2000 into briefcase (it's really strange because there is a case for F2000 in one mission but you cant take it with you) -the crowd system is just an illusion. When you take out even a small weapon there then suddenly everyone runs away in panic -same as hidding your pistol behind you back. NPC always seem to notice it -NPCs are overreacting. when you take out the hammer and prepare it for an attack, which looks like it only raises it slightly, suddenly everyone starts shooting at you -the estate in the first mission is isolated from the rest of the world. Only a small road there leads along the cliff. How the fuck did they build such a big house. Did they drop it from the air? - when your outfit has bloody bullet holes on it no one pays attention to them - weapons don't have hud icons corresponding to them - in the demo there was a lighting indicator but they removed it in the full version, however, on the hud you can still see that there is an empty space for it - a couple of times I saw an unconscious npc wrapped in body bag xD - In one mission, a dog is counted as a witness and you have to kill it to have the rank of SA -oh yes and you can't see your legs in first person mode Thankfully, in the 2016 Hitman they have already fixed these shortcomings
Took me about 2 year's or so to get down speed run strats on this game and get the sa rating suit only. The way you can abuse the ai in so many ways made it really fun figuring out how to get places much quicker. I would dare say the game was quiet broken in a few way's but when you pulled off a perfect hit it felt amazing. It was much easier than hitman 2 though (didnt find contracts too difficult) which was my introduction to the series. Hitman 2 sa was a gem but it was hitman blood money where i felt the most pay off. The Misson in the casino was the first mission i got an saso rank in on my first blood money run, and it was so carefully planned out and it litterly took me about 2 hours to piece it all together, but incredibly satisfying and thats when i got hooked. Absolution was garbage tier, but i did like some of the animations with knives and such.... and the saint's 😂. The new hitman games are excellent and i have little to no complaints. They expanded on blood money and took it up a gear, a perfect evolution for the series (fuck Absolution) ill remember that Paris map introduction for years.
Been looking forward to this review! This was also my first entry and still my favourite. The sandbox style just makes it for me and while SA ranking can be tedious, my favourite part of the game was going back with all different kinds of loadouts for a more lethal/psycho playthrough of the missions after beating them on SA. The dated and unpredictable blood made for a lot of fun. This was actually the first game in the series I was even remotely old enough to get and I wonder if that was the case for others and why Blood Money sold even better. Curious to see what you make of Absolution, I like it a lot more than most but don't quite think it stands up to Blood Money. It's gunplay is definitely better though.
Jesper Kyd’s soundtrack is a masterpiece in this game. Still the best Hitman game IMO.
And unlike the WOA trilogy, no need for an internet connection or DRM to play.
Ooooh! Sick burn!
When it comes to the heavy restrictions on using weapons, I have this to say: can you imagine "Leon: The Professional" not using any guns the entire movie? How about "La femme Nikita"?

Also the last game i ever brought from a blockbusters when it was still booming in the mid 2000s

Hitman Absolution is far from bad and frankly has the best shooting mechanics in the entire series as well as atmosphere to spare.@@WasteManagem3nt

Not alot of people know, but ever since Contracts, if you are mortally wounded you still have a second chance if you do 5 headshots in a row 😎

The perfect Hitman game. If Silent Assassin and Contracts weren't so janky and had the crappiest AI they'd be perfect too.
