Take your next adventure on our DIY ambulance conversion series where one man devotes his time and effort into converting an old ambulance into a camper van. If you ever thought about converting a retired ambulance into a camper or Recreation vehicle RV then this video series may have you thinking twice. Maybe you we're going to spend a fortune on a new high top van? Perhaps this will make you reconsider. Or not... This ambulance was built for heavy commercial use and it has enough wires packed inside it to stretch from top to the bottom of mount Rushmore11,000 times! If you are thinking about going this route, tune in and hopefully you will be inspired!
The level of detail and craftsmanship that went into this build is absolutely amazing. All of the electrical, water, and power systems are beautifully built and housed. The bathroom with its shower and toilet are exceptionally well made but the star of this RV is the hidden bed system which houses a fold down queen size bed. I was totally blown away by it. Every square inch of space inside this ambulance was utilized perfectly and everything looks so damn nice. This is a real work of art. Any RV enthusiast would be super proud to own something like this. This guy went above and beyond on this build, well done!
We are so happy to hear your comment! William did a really good job on his build, he really put his heart and soul into this thing and the real payment is him reading genuine comments like yours that appreciates all his effort and hard work. The next rig is going to be even more amazing. Thank for watching!
Wow thank you so much for the kind words I really do appreciate it.
@@wck1127 William. Seriously, I have been an RV buff with heart and soul of a architect/engineer/artist. You are an inspiring man.Your deadpan sense of dry, witty humor is appreciated as is your squeeze Grease Monkey. The build is outstanding. Are you East or West coast FL brother? My daughter is near Cape Canaveral. Happy Trails. Looking forward to the 4x4 build. Can you list for thread reference the Year,Ambo make(Horton/Medtec) engines(7.3 etc) for this build and the 4x4? Thx,you Flippin rock William! Best to, your partner, friends, and family, phil
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is the best ambulance build I have seen thus far.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We appreciate it!
Michele Lynn> Ditto, ditto, ditto, AND, ditto for sure!
Totally agreed! 😍
I 100% agree!!!
My god, the shower system is ingenious. I was set on something like Project Amber's build but that makes really awesome use of some wasted walkway space, plus looks cool, plus can recirculate the grayish filtered water. I never though the shower would be a centerpiece of a build but he managed it.
Lots of other awesome stuff done well too but damn, that was the mind blower.
I would honestly pick this Ambulance over any million dollar RV. Great job on th build, I wish I have something like this.
Right? They are so safe! That's my favorite part about them! The ambulance just fits the bill in so many ways. Thanks for watching!
43:53 - Why build a shelf if you can’t use it for everyday? That’s probably the one thing on this van build that threw me off. Somehow you need to go back and figure out a way to make that shelf lower with gravity to act as part of the feet of the bed, so that it could keep all the UNGLUED contents INTACT, instead of staying stuck to the wall and dropping an iPhone, keys, or anything somebody laid on there. Js.
@@deargod579 dear God please help this person fix their narrowmindedness.😂
@@johnpearson4533 lol
Great build! I love the way William ignores all the zingers…. Lol
Hahaha right! he is good a dodging all my sass
He need to loosen up to stiff laugh smile or something
This is the most perfect build of all time. This has everything and more that I would want. It be a super deal if he could fit in the toolbox too in case of emergencies. I put this one at the top of the best RV's I've ever seen. Amazing job.
Thank you! We just bought a new ambulance 4x4 for the next build! stay tuned for new episodes!
interviewer: “the only downfall to your backboards is you can’t set up handcuffs there”
owner: 😐
I am so glad someone like you gets our humor! Some people complain about it in the comments, which is so lame!
@@ModernGreaser downvoted. Biatch. I'm not digging that kinky stuff. Nice find though
Omg I loved your humor and banter
I can’t believe he SOLD it! Noooo!!! Man! I wish that was me!
Yes.... I think we are all sad to see the build go so soon! But, on to an even bigger and better build this time around!
FW what do you think the selling price was? I have a number in mind...You guess first and i will give you my estimate....I think the Rig itself was about 30K idk?
This build is fabulous and I could live in it full time. Great job, guys!
Thanks so much!
This Vanbulance is an incredible build! Congratulations on a job extremely well done.
I’ve become obsessed with these tours…. Over covid been watching all the builds… my jaw kept drooping at the quality, beauty and thoughtfulness in this build. I’d trust this man to build me a multimillion home. Just wow!!
This is so beautiful and efficient. This would be my dream build. The only thing I would add to it would be able to turn couch mode into a single bed using the pillow cushions, just to have a quick setup without having to winch the queen bed down, and still have access to the kitchen. Best I've seen yet on a box truck!!! Great job guys!!
Thank you for your thoughts and kind words! The next build has a totally different bed setup that you will LOVE ;)
Wow I’m so jealous of whoever bought this rage!
Im only 18min into this video and this guy has done 3 things I would wanna do that I have not seen no one else do. This guy is really smart. The upright tall water tank,re-usable shower water with filters & much more best build I've seen so far.
William has fantastic skills. His students are certainly lucky to have him as their teacher!
Thank you so much!
Great build. Love the way you showed all the progress from demo to rebuild, including all the intimidating stuff like the internal wire setup. My vote is for the recycling shower as the best addition to the rig. I look at these as Miniature Expedition Vehicles. They make an excellent option for those of us who can't afford the $500.000 rigs. Your build just made me want to own one more then ever. Thank you for giving us the chance to follow along and learn some really great techniques and ideas. I am looking forward to seeing any future builds you and William decide to publish. Great work!
Thank you! We just bought a new 4x4 ambulance yesterday for the new build series, stay tuned!
By far the most sano ambulance conversion I've seen. Great work!
Thank you for the kind words, it really did come out nice. We think the next one will be even bigger and better!
@@ModernGreaser I don't know if it needs to be bigger and better. You did just the right amount . Maybe a place to store mountain bikes and a few more clothes. It would be cool you could hide the condenser . The best thing is you made it so clean and uncluttered. I like the fake shiplap. I like the fake marble in the shower. The recycled shower water just impressed me like I can't even tell you. I never saw magnet locks like that before. The only thing id do different is ask your friend to cool it on the corny jokes. For real you did so much in a short time
This is the best build I've seen so far... Amazing... Love the recircular shower system, very ingenious.. Never thought of that... Toilet system great too.
Thank you! We just bought a new ambulance 4x4 for the next build! stay tuned for new episodes!
I don’t know if I could work with such a serious mentor, he never smiles!😊
I do 😀
@@wck1127 LOL how can I study under you ? I can’t explain how inspiring this was to me, I want to work in construction now 😂
Hahahah William jokes ALL THE TIME! The man has to put on his thinking face in some of these videos, he has LOTS of technical information to cover. If you check other videos from the build, he does LOTS of practical joking hahah
@@ModernGreaser ok, i believe you. but that abruptly pushing the tool box closed and moving on when you teased him about having 5 utility knives made him look seriously gruff!
@@nonyabizness.original hahahahah you’re awesome!! I watched that clip 5 times during editing and almost left it out of the video. I couldn’t tell if he was mad at me or just joking around 😂😂😂😂 glad you felt as uneasy as I did haha
I want this more than anything in my life, she is so lucky and thank you for sharing your amazing work. Praying that someday I can work with you and learn the craft. This is awe inspiring
Great build! The video amuses me because the interviewer is so funny and the owner, who did such an amazing job on the ambulance build, appears to have no sense of humor. That makes the interviewer all the funnier to watch.
Thank you for the kind words! Glad you tuned in and hopefully we will have another build coming your way soon!
I used to run fire rescue and after buying my first RV I realized that an ambulance would make the perfect RV. So much storage everywhere. What a wonderful job you did on it. Much better than I could have even imagined.
love this build! one of the best ambo builds I have seen. I could totally roll in this rig. I'll keep dreaming. Someday I would love to take my Travel show on the road. guess it is now the MAM-Bulance
Thank you and we are glad you like it so much!! We should have another epic build coming your way soon!
That's beautiful. I fully expected Austin Powers music when you lowered the bed.
Hhahaha thats awesome
This has to be the best ambulance build that I have seen to date. Incredible!! You did a great job! The only changes I might make is to add a removable table to work from or eat at. This is amazing! Your plumbing is wild! I will now go watch all the videos to see the journey! Greetings from Nashville, TN.
Yes, a table would be a must have for this build, it will likely get the removable, adjustable table. Thank you for watching!
If you wanted to include a portable generator to the electrical system for emergency/extra charging how would you incorporate it? Would you just run it through the shore power wire?
Yes, the shore power input would be a great way to do that otherwise you would need some type of transfer switch.
Very nice! I sent this to an electrician friend of mine that just got an ambulance for work. He’s getting close to retirement age & I figured he would enjoy this. I know I did!
Very cool!
Take it from an electrical engineer gents. Voltage isn't the issue. 12v or 12000v is the same risk to you if the current is the same. Anything over about 250mA is a risk to your health. Use a voltmeter, measure the amperage to the logs. Write that number on the backing wood at each exposed lug. Anything over about 250mA is a no touch zone.
Wow, GREAT point, you are so right! Thank you for the great input a Christmas bulb has enough amperage to kill a person. Thanks for looking out!
What an awesome conversion. I've been looking at ambulances and short busses and I think I'm going for the ambulance very similar to yours. Thank you for the wonderful ideas and explanations. 👍
Right, they are built on such a safe, stout platform! Glad you like it!
I have to ask, what did you pay for the ambulance and what did it cost to refit the ambulance
I spent 15k on the rig and another 15k on supplies that don’t include and of the labor.
Awesome technology put into this rig. I believe that the next person will enjoy all the modern things because it is unique.👍
Thanks for watching and the kind words. The next owner will be very fortunate for sure!
LMAO imagine having a shower, all the power cuts off, doors unlock and slide open - Bam everyone sees you butt naked
great rig build out.. i would wire in the rectangle fender lights into the turn signals for extra turn signals like they use to do back in the day
That is a great idea, thank you for the input!!
Super this is the best build, 'Ambulance, extremely perfect but one item miss,😉 were is the TV 😁.
Phenomenal build. The new owner truly is a lucky lady. I'm sad to see this go but, excited to see your next build. Bring it on!
Thank you so much for the kind words! We are ordering parts for the new build already!
WOW very impressive conversion your a clever man congratulations, what a shame it’s now sold.
Really considering living in one of this now, I was hesitant because of the toilet situation, this one I could deal with it. Would like a smaller version of the ambulance 🚑
Someone is currently living in this one, so it definitely is a thing!
Thank you for sharing. Your toiled system is not very friendly for the planet is it?...
Amazing, creative and functional build. This build is way out of my league with my limited skills and budget but definitely inspiring. I appreciate the detailed description of each system. William appears to be a very serious guy but I love that Kyle injects some humorous quips along the way!
Yeah. My family and I thrive on banter, comedy, cussing and sarcasm. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thank you for the kind words!! I think William appears very serious because he is doing ALL the work while I sit back and crack jokes from behind the camera hahah
Kyle "...5 razor knives!"
William "I'm getting a little tired of your shit Kyle"
Of all the RV's Ambulance DIY's I've seen, this is the best build on RUclips becauce of the water system, elc, system, bed, painting and how you us use space in the Ambulance.
My husband and I are about to do a van conversion and we both agreed we are going to do a similar shower build to this. We love the walls and the lighting. There are some design aspects I’m struggling a little to figure out but each video we watch has helped here and there. My dad just offered to sell us the old town ambulance but neither of us can stand upright in an ambulance.
This channel will help you with the proper shower panels for your install. More step by step etc. ruclips.net/video/e9JcwjdBD9U/видео.html
I haven't seem anything that compares to this. It has everything. I am flabbergasted by the workmanship, creativity, organization, logic, decor, the details---everything was intelligently thought through. Love love love the water refiltration. You resolved so many issues. I could live in this and be perfectly happy.
The only thing it needs now is a 4wd conversion from unjoint off road.
Ask you shall receive! 4x4, lift has arrived along with 20" military style rims and 37" tires. ruclips.net/video/2JugWWK_ZBY/видео.html
My 26 year old son wants to do a father and son project similar to this.
But finding the right vehicle can be a challenge .
Yes, you have to really sort through them. A lot of these ambulances were rode hard and put away wet. You have to dig for a good example sometimes.
Lol, this was very entertaining and awe inspiring. I like this guy... Is he for hire?? I mean, I don't need a camper or anything, but...
😂
Hahahahah Great comment hahahaha
This is amazing, awesome job! It just kept getting better and better with every new thing he showed us!
Thanks for the kind words, the next build is going to be even bigger and BETTER!!!
A beautiful "wrap" William, great job you two... I am getting knee deep in my "minimalist" build out, so I very much appreciate these videos... I look forward to seeing your next quest..
Had to add a HUGE thank you for the detailed links to the items and other videos, both have come in great use. I am sure I will watch the paint episode one more time the night before I start that project...
@@Broke_Expat Nice! you are the whole reason we started filming this is to help fellow people that are building their rigs. The pain was really not that bad. You will kick ass at it im sure!
Fantastic build
Thank you! We just bought a new ambulance 4x4 for the next build! stay tuned for new episodes!
I've never seen an ambulance look so good as this one used as a tiny home. It's beautiful & I 💕 it! I pray that I can have something like this in the near future. I anoint you with Psalms 91 over your life as you travel the states and see what God has in store for you. God bless!
Thank you for the kind words!!
OMGOODBLESS you are wonderful in your creative build. Please see if you could help us seniors, we want to create a home on wheels, but don't have the knowledge. We have the time to help with the build. Please don't stop creating more. Try a van, schoolie or shuttle. You will have extra money in your pocket. Trish 7/18/21 Bless You and Stay Safe.
Thank you for the kind words and that you enjoyed watching this. We will have a new build that will hopefully keep you in the loop on the new creativity. Thank you for watching :)
You sir, are an absolute dude
hahahahah great comment haha
Can u pls build one for me?
hahahah maybe?? Thank you for watching! We just bought a new ambulance 4x4 for the next build! stay tuned for new episodes!
Very nice but one word comes to mind. GHOSTS. 😂
Hahaha I said the same thing when he bought it. 90% of the “ambulance” is gone at this point. However, we now say things optimistically like “ I wonder how may lives were saved in here” or how many babies were born in here.
My thoughts exactly Darren!
Great looking. I'm looking for something to travel in myself that wouldn't cost a fortune. I lost my husband last year and want to travel.
If it were me, I would rent something. We built this for fun, but from expense wise RENT! That is my opinion for sure :)
At my age and state of beibg, I find it difficult to "small talk". I'm happy for you. THIS HOW YOU GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD AND BE PRESENT! Stop thinking... say to yourself: "Be here now"... look around and tell yorself: "I'm looking at this... I'm looking at that" BE HERE NOW.
Aloha
Thank you for your kind words and the thoughts on mindfulness and living in the present moment. I practice meditation and enjoy the reminder of being fully present. It is such a hard task to master...
I had been considering going the ambulance route and after seeing everything done with this I can't see myself going another way. This is amazing.
The ultimate finish, outstanding! Extremely impressed!
Thank you, we are so glad you like the finished product and for watching!
This is Antonio. I see you trying to get rich you went from being my construction teacher to doing some awesome stuff that is awesome!!!!!!
I remember when you built that one camper trailer at school that one was awesome this one is 10 times better👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is Wheel Estate at its best! This is amazing and if I was able to do this I would definitely want something like this.
Ll
Wheel-Estate! Best comment ever, love it haha!
First step was to cleanse the spirits that passed away in it. I’d make a monster truck one called the Bambulance!
Love the idea of the Bambulance haha
I love the way it's set up in that ambulance she I wouldn't mind having something like that
Wonder if this Ambulance Guy would trade some build out skills for Grandmother skills...really nice conversion. I almost got an ambulance instead of a van-box-truck because this paramedic would feel right at home. Decided on clearance hight higher for boon docking..
This ambulance guy is a grandpa himself! the next Ambulance we bought this week is a 4x4 and we are hoping to lift it with 40" military tires, stay tuned!
cool quality build
Thank you so much!
But How Much did you sell it for? I mean really the million dollar question literally everyone wants to know! Geez, don't get all shy now! Most of us watching have no idea and we need to know!
15k for the truck, 15-20k for materials.
I hope my wife knows were I am. Free candy ??????

so thats what they mean party i. the rear and business in the front
The craftsmanship on this build!! Thank you for sharing!! I’ve been gathering ideas and tips from videos for years now. Because of how you did your build I’d love to know ideas you may have on converting this to a 4door Wrangler build I’m gearing up for. Would be SO different but with how you did this build, I’d be stoked and grateful to see what your mind tinkers up with ideas I have and what have you. Would you be willing to chat somehow?

Top build no roof deck or was that all taken up with solar panels and storage area for 2 wheel toys
4x4 will be the one to see next
With no restrictions on water boon docking will a treat
Top build man
Good call on the roof deck! The new 4x4 rig William just bought has the whole roof diamond plated! If he doesn't make it a party deck, then he will have his man card revoked!
Beautiful build, thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas! ❤️
I would pay you a 100k to build me something like this but a little more advanced.
The next build is going to be SUPER advanced with the same Invisacook induction cooktop that Jeff Bezos and Tom Brady have on their boats. Make sure you don't miss all the action :)
wow, just wow!
Thank you so much for the kind words! We appreciate it!
How much did this build cost?
I spent 15k on the rig and another 15k on the build that didn’t include any labor
Were doing a full cost analysis video soon ;)
Awesome build by a very talented individual!

Big fan of the rear light button and the seizure lights. I was dying at the headboard comment lol
Haha glad you caught the humor, I’ve had lots of comments of people saying it was not rated G enough for them. Good to hear you thought it was funny haha
This is a masterpiece! Such craftsmanship throughout.. wish i could hire you to do my conversion
Thank you for the kind words, we appreciate it!
Yep. Perfect.
Outstanding job, a lot of great ideas to take from this. Funny how there is always that one friend that makes the smart a$$ remarks, I am usually that friend myself. Got to be frustrating when he doesn't play along and gives you the dry humor instead. Great video work.
Hahah glad you're like me. William likes to dish it back, but sometimes keeps with the flow of explaining his build.... which only makes. me antagonize him more hahah
Not even RV manufacturers have thought of all of the details he has. Awesome job!

LMAO at the rear light sign!
Thank you! We just bought a new ambulance 4x4 for the next build! stay tuned for new episodes!
That’s an interesting toilet system
It truly is pretty wild for a toilet.
What is the benefits for having a mini split instead of a window unit? Did he have an idea for a table?
The mini split is very efficient and the motor runs on DC power, even though it has AC input. It uses very little power vs the window unit.
How tall is the interior of your box/how tall are you? I’ve got a ‘93 7.3 IDI and I just barely can’t stand straight up at 5’8” I’m mostly curious if your work on the ceiling bought you more headroom, or if your box type is just taller than mine. Thanks so much, awesome build man!
It’s what they call a 6’ ceiling in our build. You have the shorter roof, the 5’6 roof line. They are cheaper to get, because everyone wants to be able to stand. The work on the ceiling made it lower in our build. You could raise your roof, a guy in RUclips has. It’s a lot of work and welding, it it can be done. In fact, next build we will be raising some if not the whole roof if we buy a short cab like you have
@@ModernGreaser thanks for the reply my man! Your videos are effin awesome!
This is the best build I’ve seen. I would like to buy one ambulance from him any time.
He put a lot of thought, work and craftsmanship in his build.
Outstanding build...
Thank you so much!!!
Incredible job!
Now that you have a detailed blue print of what you did... the thought process and time should be significantly reduced on your next build. From your video it took 5 months... estimate number of hours? Being able to visually see Electrical/Plumbing etc. in a well laid out documented manner is very helpful and less intimidating to us dreamers. I was going to suggest you setup a Patreon level membership and disclose your Amazon shopping list to members... then I expanded the description above and it was all there... Thanks a ton!!!
The next build is going to be COMPLETELY different hahah Probably 450-500 hours or so....mostly after work and on the weekends. We are going to be far more detailed on the next build. We started the videos on a whim, but now that so many people like them, we will spend more time on making them. The next build is going to be wild!
@@ModernGreaser Keeps it interesting to have new challenges. If there was an angle to keep a cheap time lapse camera mounted from start to finish?
There is no way you will top this rig with the next one..... NO WAY!!!! I think selling it was a mistake. I am watching this video over and over......and over again and there is no better layout or craftsmanship.
William LOVES to go over the top with things. The next rig is going to be WILD. We have a kitchen plan for the new build that will top $13k+ to build just for the kitchen, which is 10k more than this build. Stick around for the new build for sure!
