Well now I understand. DS2 needs to be played with a friend. That is how to unlock the true levels of fun. I’m having more fun watching your jolly cooperation than I did in my actual run. (Which is to say, I did have a good time… mostly. It just took a good while for me to find DS2’s charm).
Playing new areas for the first time in co-op makes you miss some pretty obvious things. For example, running around frantically in this video made them miss that the people killed need to be close to the things absorbing souls. It's pretty obvious if you do it on your own, but another person being there complicates things.
One of the bonfires you lost in the castle is necessary to face one of the best bosses in the base game. Go back to the room where the Ruin Sentinels are and open all the doors.
I must say, you two have a beautiful sisterhood, you support each other, you motivate each other, you encourage each other, you have a wonderful chemistry not only in the video game, but as people and you complement each other excellently. 37:00, moments like that, although funny at first, are really beautiful. And together you make the magic happen, I mean, I remember several situations like this in past videos (I have seen all of them and both gameplays) The Zweihander, the Dennis guy and its well-timed appearance, that of "spiders suddenly crawling out of the holes", and now this 50:32, as Amber said, "amazing"... Both of you are my heroines, before this journey in Dark Souls 2, I was only suscribe with "SymbaLily" almost from her beginning, but now I follow both of you, and you have to reach the end of this journey, with everything including the 3 DLCs, even if you both do other gameplays of your own, you must finish this marvelous adventure. Back in Drangleic Castle there was a fog wall in the stone soldier room because you were with Amber. Go back by yourself, there is a very important treasure chest.
In the early days, when there was a big and constant player base, the looking glass knight would actually pop out random other players from his shield. The looking glass knight would continually do that, including popping out more than one player. And they were always more powerful than the player fighting the looking glass knight. So, looking glass knight + random more powerful real player or two = a very hard fight. These days the looking glass knight is not much of an opponent but during the period after the release of DS2 the looking glass knight was a formidable opponent. Weirdly, theres a notorious boss in Demon's Souls that has a similar capability and in the remastered version of Demon's souls that boss almost always has a real player to fight you, even though Demon's souls is an older game. I dont know if the looking glass knight has been nerfed or theres just no players around for the looking glass knight. I suspect the latter, since DS2 has an unfairly bad reputation. The same thing happened with the bell tower and the area in the Iron keep that I think you guys missed. Basically, if an opponent is that blue-black colour then, when there were a lot of players playing DS2, that opponent would have been a real - more powerful - player, summoned in to kick arse. A lot of people hated that; there was a lot of moaning and whining on the internet from players in the period just after DS2 was released (which is partly why SOTFS nerfed it) but, personally, I loved all the pvp fighting that DS2 created, even though DS2 was my first fromsoft game and it was excruciatingly difficult,
the seed of a giant tree makes regular enemies attack invaders. you get those from the forest of fallen giants by checking the giant corpse trees. or just 2v1 invaders. they know what they're getting into.
I really enjoyed this video and the joy you guys are having discovering the castle. watching u guys is recalling back all the vibes i got when i was running through this game for the first time. Which reminds me of something peculiar about my feelings towards this game. ds 2 is weird for me. i complained alot AS i was playing the game when it came out but i ended up thoroughly enjoying it despite all its quirks. and while i like elden ring and have put 1200 hours into it since launch, i dont think i ever had the same "first playthrough" immersion and feels of Ds 1 and 2. my enjoyment in ER is strictly gameplay and coop/pvp and trying out new weapons and ironically the first playthrough was my least enjoyable one compared to other souls games.

One of my favorite little quirks of the room before the looking glass knight is that you can actually knock the heads off of the horse-head knights. You just have to hit them a bit before they fully wake.
Good to see you kicking this game's ass. Less suffering, more fun! Shrine of Amana is probably as infamous as Blighttown in DS1, Amber's skills will be essential.

It would seem that you never spoke to Bernhart of Jugo (guy with the blue sword) after you cleared his path by un-petrifying the woman (pyromancer) that was blocking the switch. You should probably do that, and then check back at the 'Central Castle Drangleic' bonfire.
I'm really glad you two are co-op'ing through DS2. It's way more fun with your banter and teamwork! It's not my favorite game of the series, but it looks like a blast when you two play together.
Don't know if Symbalily will read this but the Dark Orbs increase if she has more INT, up to 5 Orbs. Dark Fog is good against shield enemies, it's like poisonous fog nobody can escape, the damage stacks each cast if I remember it right, so it's good against invaders too. There's a secret bonfire in Drangleic Castle nearby the ladders where you got the Hunter Bow, usually there will be online message outside, but I guess not many people find it nowadays. Go to the souls doors you can't get in with Symbalily, there's a surprise and it's iconic for DS2 fans 😊
This game goes on forever. I'll never finish this. You gals are good. I'm just an old fogey. However, I am an architecturally trained professional who loves old castles and landscaping, and these level designs here are just magnificent.
Damn you emma, I was listening to a creepy pasta the other day and the dude said "ladder" like you did a couple episodes back, and it just got stuck in my head and I'm like, "f*in emma..." 🙄 Edit: dude doesn't know the statues have gone bad, he's a ghost from who knows how long ago... I'm not sure about the chronology of these games, but it kind of seems like it kind of takes place on the same planet, just in different times, because the lore about giants, hollows, and certain heavy souls, as well as some of the history kind of leans in that direction. Edit: repair powder only works when the item isn't broken. When it gets broken, the only way to repair it is to take it to an npc. If it gets damaged beyond broken, it will vanish 😢
Girls, it's not a gamechanger, but you've missed one Estus flask, at least I dont remember you getting it. It's not really out in the open so I think guidance is ok since you've explored that area and I think you'll just finish the game without ever getting it. If I just missed you getting it then im sorry and I'll go sit in the corner... So, the next time you're running around in Majula - go to the furthers house, the one with the map in it's basement, outside of it there is a well with a rock on it's edge... Swing at the rock
LOL at pancake killing both of you.its not that his i-frames are necessarily bigger. attacks are just generally easy to dodge if the person doing them isn't mixing up their timings. and take into account latency. so whenever there are pvp interactions and you arent used to it, it can come off like somethings bugged or whatever. its just something a player has to familiarize with to understand what hits and what doesnt.
Quite honestly, if we really want to say it, there are more details in the first room of Bloodborne, that clinic room alone, than in the whole Drangleic Castle. But the first time is always poetic. 😊

Scholar of the first sin is such a mess. The vanilla had sane enemy placement.

Tbh it's mainly infamous for it's on launch vanilla state. Scholar is mostly easier except optional sections like the dragonrider
