It seems like so many of these boats are a blank slate, ripe for the need of improvement. Hopefully others can get value from these examples. Thanks for watching and commenting! Matt
It was hot here in Juneau last week (30c) and I noticed the efficiency in my fridge drop. Not only that, my bride mentioned a table of some sort would really make the flybridge on our 3587 more user friendly too. Great timing with your video. I noticed on your fly bridge something I didn't recognize. Do you have thrusters?
Hi Mitchell Yeah, the fridge ventilation really helps when it gets hot. At a certain temperature the issue really accelerates... The folding table is our second iteration, the first table was a simple rectangle with rounded/radiused edges; it worked well too. No thrusters, are you referring to the switches above the engine speed/transmission controls? If so, one is a switch the holding tanks and the other is for windless up/down control. The other two switches are lockouts the holding tank pumps and windlass. Thank you for watching and commenting!! Matt
I have a Bayliner 2858 Flybridge. Bought it last year and the original refiridgerator did not work so I called Norcold and got the replacement model. After a year the door to the freezer broke. I now have to have the door shut using velcro. Hate the product as it seems to break easy but have not had any problems with the temp. Even with high Summer temps if I have the setting at 3 on shore power I have not had issues. Hopefully no more problems. BTW love your channel. Hope to cross paths with you someday.
Hi Thomas For the price you pay for a Norcold, they should be much better than they are. Some for the low end domestic refrigerators (Danby, etc) are starting to give Norcolds and Engles some competition. The challenge is the zero clearance install considerations. In any case, as long as there is ice cubes… Thanks for watching, if you see us out there come say hi. Cheers!! Matt
I think I have that same fridge on my boat. The master cabin shower is right behind the fridge I believe. How hard is the fridge to get out of its installed location?
Hi Steve That is a great question; I recommend (especially If doing the job by yourself) using a flat dolly and shim a the platform flush with the bottom of the fridge. You should be able to slide the fridge on to the dolly, move aside and keep it there while you work. I dropped the fridge down to the floor but it takes two to lift back in place. I recommend the dolly method, should make it a super easy job.
Hi Paul I order a lot of my boat top related supplies from sailrite. This is mostly out of convenience, they are a one stop shop with a lot of help on the their website. Perhaps not the least expensive, but I haven’t been able to source locally. Thanks for watching! Matt
great ideas - most marine fridges are under vented. I opened the rear vent for mine to promote better convection - works better now.

@@MVMakenaKai thanks for the tip...
Where did you obtain the awning strip from? Thanks.
