I'm 58 and first saw the Stranglers in1978. Just how does a band that's been around for so long come up with a masterpiece like this? The whole album is a tribute to everything they've done before and I think this track is as good as any they've ever made. Long live the Meninblack.
The stranglers I'm a granny at 55 yr old ,and I still luv the. ,And so sad for the death of Dave Greenfield ,but j.u burnell ,has always been my FAV ,brill band .xx
This track sounds awesome - the strongest I have heard from the album so far. Can’t wait to hear the full song. Congrats to the band + Louie. Also, these little video snippets are a real treat for fans, so thank you!
This is a great track - yes truly epic - I love the operatic in it and the way it builds. Think it should have been the last song on the album. It's almost Bohemian Rhapsody-esque in places. Fabulous album - my fave Stranglers since The Raven!
The Stranglers are the ONLY band that is still relevant today after 50 years. Jeff Beck was the only other artist that kept reinventing his sound and improving technically and musically and remained seminal and relevant. ALL the others became so bad and hackneyed that if they were auditioning for the first time today they would not even get the contract. Big Up JJ, Bad and the other Stranglers. RIP Dave and Jet!
Holy sh&&t. Since when did jj have the vocals range that sound like baritone and very much like Hugh Cornwall ??? I was sure it was Bazz. This is the best song on album. And it’s an amazing album. It’s powerful and though I view the white stallion as more optimistic than the stranglers. But then again I see trump as The absolute right person for the time. Not the end of the light. The operatic vocal was absolutely needed to complete the epic feeling of song. With Dave gone Louis may add something that Daves sounds have always to the music. still say Hugh can tour with bazz and split song vocals. What a tour that would be In ten years it’s not happening.
