I have been wondering why roofers woulds staple an underpayment barrier. made no sense since the staples would allow water to penetrate the underlayment. So the cap nails are water tight?
I hate when they use staples too lol. When I do tear offs, they're hard to get them all off. Causes the new underlayment to tear a bit on some parts. I always say who use staples are for lazy and cheap.

They are on slopes, also they provide the best fastening.
As soon as the shingles get nailed there will be thousands of holes protruding thru the underlayment.
